The Brass Teapot
(2012)

Started slow, they were unlikable, but got watchable later.
Rant; they mumble and don't enunciate, there weren't any CC or sub-titles either on my DVD. I almost quit just for that. I have NO clue what they were saying in bed in the beginning. Baffling why they would let them just go on and on!

Also, the main couple were not really interesting in the beginning, I did not like them or get attached to them for quite a while.

I am glad I finished it, it got better for me although it is pretty juvenile. So stick with it so you can judge for yourself.

I think I would have liked it better as an early teenager. Jeeze why so many characters! Now I remember why I don't write reviews.

Liberal Arts
(2012)

Very refreshing Romance, up to one point!
Elizabeth Olsen really was refreshing as she effortlessly connected with Josh. My ideal companion/partner will act this way when we meet.

However, when she wants him to be her first, I suggest you just turn off the movie and dream! He is such a fool and loser from then on. No need for this idiotic drama, (I would have asked her to marry me at that point!).

Why can't we just see a perfect relationship continue to grow and go through things TOGETHER the rest of their lives..... I would watch, and cherish, a movie like that.

The Wilds
(2020)

Half way into Season 2, going downhill fast...
Even with it's implausibility, season 1 held my interest enough to finish.

Now I feel I should write a review as I'll probably quit watching. (I am about episode 7 of 2nd season).

The boys are just TOO forced, it is not like they are themselves, just some over-board writers creation of weirdness.

They could have let the characters be interesting without causing me to cry out WTF? At every scene.

A Star Is Born
(2018)

Missed the mark on their unconditional connection and LOVE.
This version missed the main point of the earlier ones.... The couples unconditional Love and acceptance of each other.

Jack and Ally would have NEVER trashed one another like they did!

This version focused too much on him being a jerk, very cringe-full.

However, I really enjoyed Stefani and Bradley's performances as singer / songwriters. So watching with that in mind, I did enjoy it.

The Amazing Spider-Man
(2012)

Loved it up to a certain point, then went unbelievable.
The characters were nicely developed and drew me in, up to the point where Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans) turns into a lizard. Then ugh, it went from plausible to just another slam-bam Hollywood bloated with action, noise, CG overdone unbelievable madhouse! So I rated a 7 but would not watch it again.

The Future
(2011)

Just shoot me!... and the Cat. ...and ALL the characters!
I don't even think the little girl would recover if rescued from this horrible existence.

Some quirky, intriguing possibilities were lost in whatever these imbeciles lives were supposed to represent.

I would write less, but must meet the minimum character limit.

Don't watch it unless you are a film major or have enough friends with you to keep you from going insane. If with friends, they might help you actually get through this to the end of the movie with enough laughs etc. Do NOT let anyone bring any weapons to the viewing, and look for signs of folks leaving with suicidal tendencies. Sorry for the rambling, just read the first few lines. Jeeze I am only at about .... THERE, made it.

Shortwave
(2016)

Label it a HORROR movie, if you expect that, you might like it.
I am into Ham radio and I was disappointed they didn't do the "Shortwave" properly. It was filmed "pretty" but I fell asleep. What did I watch? ... nah, not gonna rewind and find out.

Mr. Mayor
(2021)

So disappointing. Mindless garbage.
Constant onslaught of , well, nothing! The cast, including the unknowns, and the situation, have lots of potential, but we could not get thru 2nd half hour. The background "music" alone made us so irritated..... I would say it is "juvenile" , but I would not want to insult all the smart young kids today, they are above this.

The Bamboo Saucer
(1968)

Love this, plays like it could be real. Similar to THEM or The Andromeda Strain.
I saw this when younger and it was realistic. It scared me like "The Andromeda Strain" or "Them". It is simple and not spoiled by over the top special effects (as it would be if made today). Watch it late at night.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
(2017)

Just get lost in it and enjoy. Watch again to see more details.
I was sick and had NO expectations and there was no pressure to critique this. I immediately was so relaxed and comfortable being immersed in this story. The leads were obviously committed to each other. Just watch it and enjoy, then watch again because there is SO MUCH going on it was overwhelming the first time.

The Enemy Within
(2019)

Please EASE up on the dramatic music.
The background music etc is too overpowering! Please back it off and let the Actors and Storyline hold the show. The background noise ruins it! Then you better let Carpenter do her thing before folks tune away. And NO Keaton affair.
