Some of the people leaving bad reviews must be either lacking the depth of understanding required or patience. The manga was written in 8 volumes, not just the 4 that the first season was based off of. They only started to go in to Inyo's past a bit, and what was there was heartbreaking and began to explain how he could be so comfortably numb to certain (a lot of) sensitive situations.

People complain about the villan appearing and getting defeated so quickly; well, that's because it wasn't a villain for the main character at all. That villain was a backstory for Zero, and someone for her to defeat to help her completely let go of her past since she still had nightmares about him - nothing more nothing less. Zero is a main character, but not THE main character, so people need to get over that a side character only got 3 episodes for their own personal villain - most side characters don't even get that much. They had 13 episodes to lay out the groundwork for 7 characters, and considering that, I think they did a miraculous job.

It's a very good anime and was a really good windup for what could be an exciting 2nd season.
