The Future Diary
(2021)

Fav dating show to date
Pure n pretty, sweet n simple, lovely n lively, real n feels. I cried in every ep for joy n heartfelt moments. Really nice feel good slice of life with just enough drama to keep us wanting more. Maai's soooo pretty n Takuto's soooo lovely = genuine match. I could seriously watch them date, chat n chill a couple more seasons to follow their progression as years pass. Bonus on top is discovering Sekai No Owari. Thank you netflix.

The Hunting
(2019)

Excellent Aussie Drama
Surprised by the quality of this thought provoking Aussie series. Realistic n relatable premise. Engaging n educational watch. Highly recommend for parents n teens. Took a star off cos the bad guy didn't get justice.

Don't Look Up
(2021)

Barely scraped through the end
A talk fest n nearly a snooze fest. Def not scifi but lofi. Sis slept 15 min in n dad dropped out 30 min in. I sat thru the entire ideal just for its star studded cast. Perhaps the show is too close to reality for mocking ourselves. My stars above goes to A list acting but not A list story telling. Not recommended.

Strangely i went from finishing Dont Look Up to Japan Sinks. Same 'genre' n same political angle with also a star studded cast but without any humour. Somehow the latter is much more watchable despite language n cultural barrier.

Not ordinary but extraordinary
Emotionally engaging, entertaining and inspirational.

Can't remember how many years has passed since I've enjoyed a HK movie. Firstly, the movie title Zero to Hero is aptly brilliant. Know from the start what you're in for - a biopic of underdog to wonderboy. Our hero So Wa Wai is Hong Kong's first gold medallist paralympian ... the theme for Chariots of Fire silently goes off playing in my head.

Watched with mum on Netflix today. I cried from start to end, whilst mum cried only in one scene when the hero puts a gold medal over his mother's neck.

Acting is so convincing that one would think if all three newbie actors of different ages portraying the hero are actually handicapped or not. The young child, the school kid and the adult all superbly showcase distinctive facial nuances, voice spasms and movement reflexes of a handicap. And please excuse me, I do not mean to call So Wa Wai a handicap. So Wa Wai is a hero.

HK has always performed well in paralympics. I wish for HKSAR govt to support paralympians even more with the success of this movie bringing to forefront the struggles of paralympians and athletes.

Brilliant! I love it.

The Society
(2019)

Great teen scifi
Was so happy S2 got green lights, then so doomed S2 got axed after covid. Thoroughly enjoyable S1. Loved it that one of the main cast is Australian Chinese.

Shadow and Bone
(2021)

Beautiful Asian heroine
Love that the heroine is Asian. Even better it's of my fav paranormal fantasy genre with magic and unicorns in the mix.

Fate: The Winx Saga
(2021)

Teen faeries
Right up my fav genre alley, YA Paramornal, the kind of series I'd read all night. Mashup of slightly older female Harry Potter x Pretty Little Liars.

Manifest
(2018)

Season 4 please!
Ingriguing start of mysterious MH370 x Lost mashup. Good family scifi to build upon. Please bring on Season 4.

Lost in Space
(2018)

Family scifi
Needed more family scifi after Stranger Things. Ok watch.

Stranger Things
(2016)

Nostalgic sci-fi
This got me back to binge watching US tv again. Memories of youth and enthralling 80's Spielberg movies. What's even more amazing is the creators managed to cast Wynona Ryder!

Unfortunately ratings drop by the season. S1 great. S2 good. S3 ok. S4 fingers crossed. Still deserving of 10 stars in my book.

Locke & Key
(2020)

if you like Stranger Things
Not as good as Stranger Things but just enough to satisfy the wait for another season. Similar premise with kids of a family encountering strange things through various keys found in an old mansion.
