Poor Things
(2023)

What was that?
Poor Emma Stone, an actress we have loved and wanted to see in this movie, What a shock to see just how god awful this movie was. What was she thinking when she signed on for this disaster? This will be for her what Mommie Dearest was for Faye Dunaway, although the Oscars will sing her praises because if there is one thing they like is weird and nudity by a famous person, only bested by a foreign actress in a even weirder movie. Will she recover from this debacle? Probably but not in our opinion. Her judgement in taking on a project like this shows a serious lack of artistic merit. She'll probably get an academy award which will just cement how strange these award shows have become.

Killers of the Flower Moon
(2023)

Take 10 mg. of Lexapro before watching
If you want to be depressed watch this 3 1/2 hour bomb. The speaking voices of the chiefs in the big meeting concerning all the deaths was ridiculous. They all sounded like they were from Alabama, southern drawls one and all. Leonardo Dicaprio looked like he needed to pass something large and painful in almost every scene and the female lead sounded more like a smart mouth high school senior than anything else - especially in the beginning. After that she was so sick she could barely get her words out. She put Mimi's death scene in La Boheme to shame. Save your money and stay away from this depressing 3 1/2 hour unless your on large doses of Lexapro.

Sachertorte
(2022)

Loved this movie
This story had elements of Cinema Paradiso mixed with Moonstruck, two of my favorite films, and it had me smiling, laughing and engaged from the start. A beautiful story with great performances from, not only the leads, but the entire supporting cast. There were so many interesting characters, from the staff at the Hotel Sacher in Vienna, to the quirky roommates, but the two leads, Max Hubacher and Maeve Metelka, were just outstanding. The ending was a little predictable pretty early on but the ride getting there was pure cinematic joy. I love finding these treasures like Sachertorte in the day and age of comic book mayhem on every screen.

Our Great National Parks
(2022)

Outstanding series
This show has some of the most amazing photography I have ever seen. Just stunningly beautiful. How they got some of these close ups is incredible. It reminded me of the old Disney True-Life Adventure films we saw as children. That video at the time was magnificent but this film, with newer camera technology - is just amazing.

Obama, who as POTUS, protected more public land and waters than any other POTUS in history, does a beautiful job with the narration.
