John Carpenter's Suburban Screams
(2023)

Maybe It's Just Nostalgia
6.5/10

This really reminds me of "Unsolved Mysteries" just minus the unsolved mysteries. The style is very reminiscent of that, and that's probably why I enjoyed it moreso than the show itself. The stories being told weren't the most interesting or exciting, nor were the people telling them, but the reenactment videos were well done & kept my interest enough that I continued to binge watch the entire series in a day.

There's nothing new or groundbreaking here, and it's not anything so exciting or great that I'd tell someone to rush to watch it, but if you enjoyed watching Unsolved Mysteries and/or are interested in people telling personal ghost stories, it worth the watch.

Malum
(2023)

Enjoyable enough, but completely unnecessary
I enjoyed "Last Shift" a lot, in fact I think it was one of the better horror movies of the last 10 years. Malum doesn't deviate from the original, which was a better film & is far too new to need remade, so I don't understand the need for this movie's existence. If you've seen "Last Shift" then there's no need to watch this, because you'll spend the entire movie comparing it to this & also have zero surprises coming your way, and if you haven't seen it then do what you can to try to find it to watch instead of this. I suppose if you're completely unable to find "Last Shift" at all, then this is worth watching, but only if there's zero opportunity to watch the original, which is the much better choice.

We Have a Ghost
(2023)

Misleading trailer, decent movie
Whoever made the original trailer for this should never be allowed to make another! The trailer that I saw, made this seem like a fun hilarious comedy, it is not. While there are comedic elements throughout, it's never funny enough to be a straight comedy. It's more of a dramedy, and as such is a perfectly fine movie. Not great, not bad, fine. Had I not gone into this expecting a completely different type of movie than the one I saw, I probably would've liked this far more, as looking back I still enjoyed it. I'm trying not to judge the movie itself, on a bad marketing decision made by someone else, but it's hard to do when that's the expectation you had. So, I'm gonna give the movie a 7, because that's what I think I'd feel if I hadn't seen any trailer or info before watching it.

Dashcam
(2021)

That wasn't very enjoyable...
Host was such a great film that I was really looking forward to Dashcam, but boy was it a letdown. The main character was so unlikeable that it zapped all emotional feeling from the movie, other than annoyance & apathy, because you felt no connection with her.

The best part of the entire movie was the post-movie scenes; watching her just drive around & freestyle ridiculous lines was so much more enjoyable than any part of the movie.
