Blonde
(2022)

Ana de Armas deserves an award
Thumbs up for Ana de Armas, I cannot imagine anybody else performing Marilyn so well that sometimes was like watching herself. She deserves to be awarded for her work.

I know that the story wasn't based on her real biography. I think that it portrayed well the probable kind of abuse that a poor woman coming from a dysfunctional family had to endure in that world.

I transmitted well the atmosphere of a person addicted to drugs and alcohol.

I hated the anti-abortion propaganda, showing a grown fetus and all the speculation around Marilyn having had so many abortions. It also reinforces a dangerous stereotype that all women are so baby obsessed.

I liked the choice of the other actors too.

Sky Rojo
(2021)

It depicts the reality of prostitution
The plot is about 3 prostituted women that escape their pimps. It has some flashbacks where you learn why those women ended as prostitutes. It shows well that prostitution is pure misogyny and enslaves and degrades women and pimps are the worst kind of dealers that destroy women's lives and this industry exists because of the demand of misogyny from common men.

Fractured
(2019)

Brilliant underrated thriller
It's a very good thriller Spoilers

Where the mind of an alcoholic man who suffered a concussion and has lots of schizophrenic episodes mixes his imagination and reality creating a world full of conspiracies. I really like the way it's constructed and develops. It also sends a model message about the danger of driving when drunk.

The Dark and the Wicked
(2020)

One of the worst and most boring films I've watched in the last years
It's extremely boring, cliche and has nothing new. It's pure supernatural horror without any plot. It's slow, boring and I couldn't continue it after halfway. I cannot believe it got a quite high score. I wasted almost 90 minutes of my life watching this ultra boring film

Saul fia
(2015)

Offensive
I found this film offensive. In a concentration camp where people were being sent to the gas chambers a guy will focus his efforts in burying a corpse and risking his life and other people's lives to achieve his goal. Meanwhile other prisoners are busy with an escape plan and he spoils part of the plan because of his stupid obsession. In his situation his priorities should be: stay alive, escape and help to save other people's lives but his aim was to bury a cadaver only because of his stupid beliefs.

Masterpiece
Brilliant film that discretely depicts the hypocrisy and nonsense of the church and faith, corruption and power inequality. The ones in power always win in the courts. This film is one of the few films I've watched lately that made me feel amazed by it's end.

Arrival
(2016)

Anti-abortion propaganda
The film seemed to be interesting in the beginning but then it was so clear that it was pure anti-abortion propaganda, the main character knew that she would have a daughter that would have a rare degenerative condition and she would die young, but the mother didn't want to change her future and prevent suffering. It spoiled all the film.

The Beguiled
(2017)

The 1971 version was way much more interesting and thrilling
Yesterday I watched the remake of The beguiled and I found it much less impressive than the film made in 1971, but I couldn't remember so well the older version because I watched it more or less 20 years ago so I decided to watch it today to make a comparison. I find that the new version was completely spoiled by PC fanaticism. I don't understand why Sofia Coppola left out Hallie the slave, slavery was a key point on the American Civil war and Hallie was an important character with lots of interesting dialogues. She also left out the scenes of the crush between the soldier and Amy, the 12 years old girl in order to not shock people with paedophilia. The incestuous memories of Martha were also left out. In summary, she impoverished the characters, their relationships and their thoughts to avoid shocking PC people and replaced the interesting varied characters by a group of pretty blondes. The first version is much more thrilling and interesting. It's a shame that now with much better make up and photography the core of the film was spoiled.

Wonder Woman
(2017)

Not really feminist
I don't like super heroes and action movies in general, but because so many people posted that it was a feminist movie I had to check it up. But in my opinion it's not really feminist, it's only less sexist than the average Hollywood film. The female protagonist is a very pretty young woman, she is a warrior, but she doesn't look at all like a warrior, she's not the skinny model type, but she's too slender if compared to real life martial arts or top sportswomen, no broad shoulders, no visible arm muscles. During the film she was fighting a lot, but her face remained mainly relaxed with the lips a bit open to look sexy. A male fighter would frown, grind the teeth and spit like fighters and top athletes of both sexes do when in action. When she met people for the first time, mainly males, they would get impressed by her beauty first, so she's still a object woman. Her shoes had heels, not really handy for martial arts. The age gap between her and the male is OK, 5 years, something not common in Hollywood where most women are mainly almost 1 generation younger than men. She was too easily seduced by the first male she saw. She was frequently interrupted or given orders by the male and mostly she was OK with that. A really feminist woman would not accept a man to be giving her orders. When she sees a baby for the first time she's delighted and wants to touch it, mother instinct stereotype. At least in the beginning of the films some older women were also in the scene.

I, Daniel Blake
(2016)

Hardship
This film shows how anyone could end dependent on benefits and if people are denied them when they really need them it can be disastrous, it also shows an example that prostitution isn't really a choice for people that are in misery. But I think that poor people should get better access to contraception, people that are already miserable should definitely not create more miserable people.

The Legend of Tarzan
(2016)

Overdosis of sexism and white supremacy
I found it a try hard to be PC film that in the end is racist and extremely sexist. The main character is a white man, it's OK, Tarzan is an old character and he's white, but he's stronger, more intelligent and understands animals better than anybody else, he could even fight with a gorilla. The strongest human would never be able to fight fairly against an alpha gorilla without the use of weapons. The try hard PC factor was the black American character, George. He's black, but he's American. All native Africans were secondary and not so brilliant as the 3 main white males. The white villain is a mature man with no remarkable physical attributes that could fight with very strong African warriors. And the only female character is a woman that had a miscarriage and wants to have a baby to complete her happiness. The film sends the most toxic possible message to women: motherhood is what will make a woman feel complete and happy. Tarzan is a super hero that can beat everything, his wife is a fragile pretty woman that waits to be saved by him. Overdosis of sexism and white supremacy.

Mad Max: Fury Road
(2015)

Finally a commercial film without lots of sexism
I liked Mad Max, not because of all the adrenaline and special effects and the oversimplified plot typical of action movies, but it's one of the very few commercial films I saw lately that didn't spoil my enjoyment because of abuse of sexist traits. In this film a woman is an active and strong character and she doesn't wear high heels, make up and sexy clothes, she's even disabled and had her head almost shaved. The young women in the film that we can say that look more like what is considered pretty nowadays were also not full of make up and uncomfortable clothes, they were just young and fresh and they also helped a lot to solve problems in the film. And the hero of the film wasn't only one super strong man, it was the team work of different people with different genders and skills that could achieve a goal. There's no disgusting age gap between the characters that had a crush. Tom Hardy is even 2 years younger than Charlize Theron. Charlize Theron is turning 40, the age that many actresses are considered rubbish. And there was a group of older female bikes that were good warriors. And this film gave an important message that people should unite despite their differences and fight the real common oppressors.

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
(2014)

Interesting film by very ageist for women
Watched Birdman, interesting script and camera but as usual I got disgusted by the typical age gap between female and male actors. The protagonist is Michael Keaton (64), his ex-wife Amy Ryan (46), his lover Andrea Riseborough (33). The most important female actors are women aged 27 to 46, all very good looking. The only female actress of his age is the critic Lindsay Duncan (65) who is called that woman that looks like she sucked the buttocks of a man. It's disgusting to see that women are seem as sex meat from 12 to 39 and after they're 40 they're just ghosts and witches. I cannot be impartial, films like this are dictating that women are only worth before they turn 40, and we see this influence in real life too.
