Danny Phantom
(2003)

Can't believe we didn't watch this before.
First, my kids say this is their new favorite show, which just about says it all. We love sci-fi and supernatural stories, but had never run across it. Great animation. The stories are good. Lots of smart references throughout. One of the better Nicktoons we've seen.

Betraying the Badge
(2021)

Good first-person cop stories about turning to the Dark Side.
It's good to see a VICE documentary that doesn't try to copy the old VH1 tabloid exploitation style that it's using for other shows. Can't believe cops went on record for this, but it's worth it. They tell great first-person, personal stories of how they got pulled toward the dark side (greed). The only real weak spots are the 90s graphics and all the cases so far are too old--from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Would be nice to see newer cases of corruption that are more in the news lately. Also would like to see cases about FBI corruption, not just local cops. All in all, music is cinematic, great emotion and honesty from the cops--definitely worth watching.

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father
(2008)

Perhaps the greatest English-language true crime documentary ever made.
The word "masterpiece" is overused. this is the real thing. technically it's fantastically archive-driven, but the story arc is just 1-in-a-million because of the filmmaker's relationship to the subject. the director masterfully reveals the victims and the crime. it's hard to explain without spoilers....watch the film.

Murdered by Morning
(2020)

Creepy and sad. Shows how fragile life is...great show.
One of the better murder shows around. Good interviews and scary stories, pretty good emotion from survivors. People just don't realize how quickly how deadly things can get. You go out for a night on the town and wind up in a shallow grave or as bird food the next morning. Good scores and direction.

Ridiculousness
(2011)

Do not waste your time with this cheap show
My god, this was tiresome. Where do these silver spoon kids get their money to make this crap??? The jokes are from 1984, the on-camera energy is geriatric, and the filmmaking is middle school.
