The Clan
(2009)

Excellent showcase of new Scottish acting talent!
I enjoyed this film very much and have been anticipating it's release for quite some time now.

This is the second independent feature film from Scottish filmmaker Lee Hutcheon. 'The Clan' is a deep, gritty Celtic tale based in the heart of the Scottish Highlands that really does show a darker side to these quiet little villages we so often see on our postcards and shortbread tins. The film which is based around feuding Clans and a forbidden love packs a punch in terms of the young acting talent that is showcased within each of the scenes. Hutcheon's talents for pulling the best out of his actors definitely shines in this film as every character within the story seems to deliver in more ways than one. Once again I think this film was achieved on limited funding and is yet another remarkable achievement for the Scottish Director. The film definitely shows many sides to this filmmaker's abilities, and yet again raises the question, 'What could he really achieve with proper funding and support?''The Clan' is a deep, emotional story, with stunning Scottish locations and an amazing Celtic Soundtrack.

In a Man's World
(2004)

Pushing the boundaries of indy film-making to the max
This film captured my attention sometime ago after reading some of the stories on how it was achieved on next to nothing and hearing a bit about the directors own gang experiences as a kid and how he turned towards indy film-making soon after. Since then I have closely watched the progression of Lee Hutcheon as a filmmaker and have just noticed that he has went and pushed the boundaries of independent film-making even further with his latest project THE CLAN starring James Cosmo. The trailer can be viewed at www.theclanmovie.com and I must say that this looks absolutely dynamite. It seems that the raw seed of IN A MANS WORLD has now blossomed into a beautiful flower with THE CLAN and I think we are going to see some amazing things from this guy in the future.

I hear that his next project RAMENSKY will be shot on a bigger scale budget so this will show us exactly what he is capable of doing with some cash. Exciting stuff!

As an indy filmmaker myself I can draw nothing but inspiration from this to go on and pursue my own projects as well.
