  • Another adaption of the Zeller Operetta "Vogelhändler". This time the mean characters have changed.

Now the love affairs of the duke and the duchess is in the centre of the storyboard. Adam and Christel are doing just a side story.

The opening song (reprised at the ending) is nice to hear
  • Seen a hundred times: a small group of people in a post station besieged by Indians

    • a brave cavalry scout

    • his former girl friend, now married to a rich coward - the rich coward

    • an indian cavalry scout, accused of murder of an indian chieftain

    • an old cavalry man, friend of the scout (and responsible for the poor humor)

    • an mad cavalry man and killer (Lee Van Cleef, who else ?)

The Story ? Kill a lot of Indians, talk much and often change the power (I thing the coward alone betrayed the other three times) The only good thing in this 3D movie is the short running time (excuse for my school English)
  • The first long-playing movie of Max Ophüls has not enough singing to be really an operetta, but both songs "Ich wär so gern richtig verliebt" and "Ist dein Herz noch ledig, schick es nach Vendig" are reprised several times. So sometime it looks like an operetta.

For sound track hunters (like me) there wasn´t any real loot, because all singing parts were very short and noisy.

An interesting scene was in a ´wave bath´, because I did not know that this kind of bath was already existing in 1932. (excuse my school-english)
