Dragnet
(2003)

Embry and O'Neill have good chemistry
The first episode of this series was a little shaky, but I believe that if given enough time, the show can find its ground and stand firmly. Ed O'Neill's Joe Friday doesn't have the same cool as Jack Webb's did, but he plays the part well. O'Neill's chemistry will Ethan Embry comes through the TV well and it's funny to see Det. Friday and Det. Smith intimidate suspects by talking about all the bad things that will happen in front of them. It's good to see both Embry and O'Neill back in a tv series and if the show can come up with some really interesting initial story lines, it just might be around for a while.

Veritas: The Quest
(2003)

Promising
The first episode of Veritas showed much potential and a promise of better things to come. Ryan Merriman delivers, as always, and the rest of the cast were great as well. The show is the story of Vincent, played by Alex Carter, who is an archaeologist.......well, kind of, more like Lara Croft's version of an archaeologist from what the first episode shows, and his estranged son Nikko, played by Merriman. In the first episode Vincent is trying to find a lost city that his wife had been searching for before she died and Nikko ends up coming along for the ride. The characters are interesting and the dialogue, though it could use a little work, is quite good overall. ****/*****

The Bumblebee Flies Anyway
(1999)

Fantastic
This movie was so great. Watching it one wonders why we had to wait until The Lord of the Rings to see Elijah Wood hit it big. He brings a sense of depth to the role of Barney Snow and the movie itself just draws you in. Rachael Leigh Cook is another fine young actor who should be bigger than she is and she delivers an awesome performance in this film as well. This movie both frustrates and pleases its audience and I recommend everyone see it.

Flipper
(1996)

A good, heart-warming movie
Flipper is a good movie that you can just sit down and watch with the little ones without having to worry about shielding their eyes at any point during it. Sure it's a bit cheesey at times and the writing is not on scale with an actor of Elijah Wood's caliber, but it is an entertaining film to watch and it's nice to see him playing a somewhat normal teenager. His character Sandy does lean towards the overly obnoxious side of things in the beginning though. So much so that you know if you were in the uncle's place, you'd take him out for a midnight ocean ride and not return with him.

MDs
(2002)

A modern day M*A*S*H*
This show so far has been totally great. The vibe between Doctors Kellerman and Dalgetty reminds me very much of the vibe between Doctors Pierce and Hunnicut from M*A*S*H*. The show had characters like Doctor Kellerman, a man who is divorced and tries to see his kid as much as he can. He's good at what he does and always tries his hardest. Then there's Dalgetty, with that sexy Scottish accent, he's the Hawkeye Pierce of the show. He's the one who is always charming women and has never had a relationship last longer than 3 weeks. Nurse Doctor Pool is a woman who has a Doctor in nursing and takes her job very seriously. Mr. Donge (pronounce the 'e') is the representative from the hospital's HMO, there to make sure money is only spent on necessary things and not on things such as reattaching a pinkie. The cast has worked together beautifully from the start and I think that this show has real staying power, if only it could be moved into a better time slot.

Birds of Prey
(2002)

Cheap knock-off of Dark Angel
This show reminds me a little too much of Dark Angel. Normally that wouldn't be too bad, seeing as how Dark Angel was an awesome show and all, but 'Birds of Prey' doesn't do a very good job of imitating, or standing on it's own. I know it's supposed to be a continuation of the whole Batman mythology, but does anyone, remember it saying anywhere the Batman and Catwoman had a kid? I know that the show is supposed to be 'what-if' situation, but don't you think that good, kind hearted Bruce Wayne would do the right thing and help to raise his own child?!?! All in all, I didn't like it much, but, if it works REALLY hard, it could have some potential.

Everwood
(2002)

What a fantastic show!
It's been two episodes so far and I can already tell that this show is going to be one of the best on tv. I've been kinda depressed when it comes to tv lately because it seems like all my favorite shows are going away, what a perfect time for Everwood to arrive! The cast is awesome and the settings are beautiful, I can't wait to see what the future holds for such an awesome show!
