A lovely tale about Aleppo and Syria "Dounia and the princess of Aleppo" is a fantastic tribute to Aleppo, Syria and its inhabitants by Aleppo-born artist Marya Zarif. It is a must-see to understand Syria but also the whole Middle-East. The film is subtle, deep and poetic. It contains beautiful references to Arabic music, history, arts and culture, and depicts in detail the daily life of the people before the beginning of the revolution and the war. This movie allows people to get a emotional impression of Aleppo, as if they were walking in its narrow streets full of jasmine. It is also a great way to start some deep conversations with children regarding the reality of our contemporary world where civilians have to face war, violence, displacement and migration.
