Suspicion
(2022)

Starts off interesting, loses steam and then in the last 2 episodes, devolves into bad soap-opera acting and pretentious dialogue
Honestly, if they kept the story in the UK, it would've been more insteresting. Once they moved to the US, it just became unbelievable and featured too much bad acting and scenery chewing by characters almost twisting their cartoon mustaches. Uma Thurman is too good an actor to be given bad writing like this to deliver.

Watch Line of Duty instead.

Film Fest
(2020)

Good main actors, wasted on a "rough draft"/"needs a lot more punching up" feel of a script
There were a few amusing points, and Matt Cook, Diona Reasonover and Will Sasso were all great in their roles, but they deserve better material. The film felt like a pretty "by the numbers" sit-com stretched out to 90 minutes, with cliche things like the girlfriend not coming, the boyfriend then deciding to cheat, and then SURPRISE the girlfriend shows and walks over right as the "other woman" is basically spilling the beans. And then the BIG WINK of the final scene/line about no one wanting to see a movie about a trip to a film festival.

For a funnier, more entertaining look at making a small budget movie, I would recommend the 2019 graphic novel "Penny Nichols" by MK Reed and Greg Means.

Savages
(2012)

Shiny and colorful, but shallow and boring.
Pretentious narration, an air-headed damsel you don't really care much about, and sets and props that are more colorful than the characters make the movie look like an Entourage version of Scarface. Especially stupid were the IT "hackers" dressed in hipster fedoras.

During my screening, the guy to my right actually fell asleep and started snoring around the two-hour mark.

A movie that felt like it was penned by a 14-year-old, only held together by what must have been millions and millions of dollars for production and casting—all just lipstick on a pig.

Very forgettable. 5 stars out of 10.
