Exaggerated construction ruined the value
This movie has a very important message to convey. But Samuthirakani chose to go little bit exaggerated at times on the concepts and some of characters. This has spoiled the overall feeling.

Samuthirakani himself is rocking as always with his acting. And some of the kids are also doing very good performance. Expect a surprise star in guest appearance. But he is given some star dialogues zooming camera on to his face. This could have been avoided.

Overall worthy watch, but expect the extreme attitudes being compared. Example is about going by book on daily routine for a pregnant lady with planned delivery date on a good day etc. Vs insisting that delivery should be at home and never should go to doctor. In my opinion, both the extremes should be avoided in real life.

A must watch for every one
The movie is a bit longer than needed, a few scenes might be a bit boring as well. But...

This is really a must watch movie for every individual in the world. Many scenes point fingers at you, make you think about what you are doing with your life, how you are wasting valuable time of your very short life. Many scenes haunt you even after watching the movie.

Surprisingly good performance from Vedhika. One cannot sit through many of her scenes without wet eyes. Saikumar also impresses. Others did decent job as well.

Movie takes an unimaginable turn at half way and second half is treated very differently than the first half.

Hope every one watches this movie and make the world a beautiful one filled with lots of love.

Every one is deformed and hunchbacks
You have to be sadist to enjoy this movie. Why on earth someone wants to keep seeing people getting deformed and becoming hunchback for more than 3 hours. Oh ya, in between these, there is a terribly silly, lengthy and boring (soap serials would be better) love story going on.

Only factors that are enjoyable is Vikram's acting to an extend, Ennodu Nee Irundhaal song and some nice locations and camera work.

Suresh Gopi's role is especially not at all convincing.

This is the worst of Shankar movies. I think he just found somewhere deforming technology and just wrote some crap around it.

It is a pity that this movie has become a hit economically. Sincerely hopes that Shankar puts a bit more heart to his next movie.

Good climax
Mostly the movie goes at a very slow pace. Through out there is an irritating background score as well. The horror parts of the movie and its explanations are mostly non-interesting.

But the story sequence with Janarthanan, and the climax are excellent. Both these parts leaves you very heavy hearted.

Kunchako Boban and Bhama paired pretty well. Shine Tom Chacko did a very good job in his role. There is a good song as well.

I could not really understand the photographer story though.

Camera work definitely needs improvement.

So 5 rating for climax and Janarthanan's story.

Disaster to the extreme
One of the worst movies of Malayalam history.

Ashiq abu tried to do a Kill Bill in Malayalam and failed miserably.

Through out the first half, there is a narrator of the story, even when the scenes are very explicit. This gets you irritated immediately.

The complete set of actors except Mammootty acts terrible. Not sure why on earth they are showing the family life of a police man, role of Aparna Gopinath etc.

Kunjan, Sekhar Menon and John paul trio as villain was a very bad selection.

Director definitely need a coaching class on how to take slow motion scenes. And also about need of a story in a movie.

Ridiculous
Dear Priyan Sir,

With all due respect,

When you want to take an investigation movie, why do you lent some one else's Doctor Sunny Joseph? I would have rather taken one of your own police heroes (May be Unnikrishnan from Vandanam)? Doctor Sunny Joseph is here to treat patients, not to investigate some one else's murder.

Also when you want the heroine to perform so much expressions, don't you think you should put a bit more effort in choosing a right lady for the role? Did you forget a process called 'Sceen Test'?

I gave rating 2. One point for Mohanalal's screen presence, and one for the doore doore song.

Rest all is ridiculously bad.....

Time pass but too light
Saw this movie yesterday. Not boring. The movie is only around two hours. And it has its funny moments.

But at the end, this movie is soooo light that, it gives you a feeling that you wasted your time watching it.

There is absolutely nothing happening in the movie. The story has been told hundred times already in bollywood.

Every one acted very well, especially Imran khan and Bomman Irani. Kareena kapoor has exactly same character as in Jab we met.

Songs did not make any impact.

All together I can give 6 out of 10 for its jovialness. But I would neither suggest this movie to my friends nor to my enemies.

Why was this made
The major problem with this movie is once you start watching it, you are so tensed that you cannot stop it. You will just continue watching it until the end. But when the movie is finished, you will ask yourself. "Why did I see this?".

The movie by any means is not any worth to see, other than for wasting your time. The direction, camera and acting is so good that you will be just lost in the movie completely. But the movie as such is a real turn off. The psycho killer is so badly narrated. His character does not posses any consistency except that he behaves abnormal. I was really irritated when I finished the movie and my whole day was gone.

One question keep coming to me. Why was this movie made?

One time watch
May be I am not really a person for dark comedy. I felt it as only a so-so movie. Even when I was watching in DVD, I took break 3 times in between. I felt it was quite boring at times.

But still there are nice and funny scenes coming in between. So it could be watched once.

Neetu Chandra acted horrible. Abhay Deol was decent acting as always. Didn't really find the need of Paresh Rawal representing three characters.

Songs were also just so-so.

I wouldn't call it the best movie and all. But if you have a lot of time left, may be you can give it a try.

Kutty Srank: The Sailor of Hearts
(2009)

At the end, what was it about????
OK, once upon a time there was Kutty srank. He spoke three dialects, influenced three women's life. But then? I have no idea what happened. There is nothing explained in the movie.

Hope at least Shaji N Karun knows what he wanted to convey. I was a big fan of many of his previous movies. But this was a real disaster.

I liked acting of Kamalinee Mukherjee, Suresh Krishna and Amit (Joppen). The part of the movie in which these three characters appear was interesting.

In my opinion mammooty was horrible in many scenes. It was like mammotty wearing an over-sized shirt. All the three mannerisms of Kutty Srank did not suite Mammootty. It was a terribly wrong casting.

I would strongly advice not to waste your time and money on this movie.

A real Malayalam movie
I have some of my friends who keep saying me that Malayalam movies lost its standard, and there are no good movies coming out these days, etc.

I can point them to this movie for sure. Such a great movie. I admit that this a remake of an old Malayalam classic. But when this is redone to the current era, its beauty is only increased, its quality is only improved. Hats off to MT and Laljose. It is a very light, feel-good, romantic movie.

While watching the movie, I was decided to give 10 rating, thinking that it is taken at its best and there is no room for improvement any further. But when I think again, yes, there is one thing that could have done better, that is the role by Samvrutha Sunil. Somehow she is becoming the regular face doing such roles these days. But she struggles with the roles which demands expressing heavy emotions. So I am reducing one point for her casting.

Great acting by Archana Kavi. Being a new comer and also a very modern girl in real life, I am so impressed by her adaptation to her character in the movie. In every movie Rima Kallingal keeps proving that she is an asset to the future of Malayalam movie. All others had only very less to act in the movie and all did justice to their roles.

One of the best thing about the movie is that when they had to show incidents from years later, they did not try putting make up on Archana to make her look old. Instead they used an older actress who look very similar to her and having very similar expressions. Thumps-up for that decision.

I don't think I need to say any thing about the music. There was no song recently that went so deep into every malayali's heart as "Anuraga Vilojananayi...". Shreya Ghoshal did a great job with it. There was never a non-south Indian singer who could sing Malayalam songs so fluently. "Neelathamare..." song is also very good. (This song is very special to me since it was the caller tone in my wife's mobile, when I used to call her before our wedding) Vidyasagar did a great job to bring in the right mood for this recreation of an old classic.

So I am giving 9/10 for this movie. Don't miss this movie. We need such movies at least once in a while to touch our hearts and to wake the love and "Nanma" in our hearts up.

Remember Me
(2010)

A soft and sweet movie
To be frank, I saw this movie because I ended up in the theater at the time of this movie, and I did not get ticket for the other movie I was trying to see. So I did not have any expectations when I went in the hall for this movie. But I came out completely satisfied, and I think I would not have liked the other movie I was trying to see, better than this one, anyway.

If you normally are a kind of person who likes the type of movies with lot of things happening around, then better stay away from this movie. Why I say this is because couple of my friends who came with me to the hall, did not like the movie at all, for the same reason. This movie hardly have any thing big happening in it, except for the last few minutes. All other part of the movie is very light, with a lot of very touching romantic and family moments.

As the hero says in the movie, this movie is all about a concept "Whatever you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it because nobody else will."

All the actors were excellent, but I have to especially mention two names. One is Pierce Brosnan, who looked extremely stylish and professional, as always. He added an extra charm to the role and made me think that no body else could have done this role better. Second is the girl who acted as the hero's sister. She was very cute and touching the hearts in every scenes she appear, with her brilliant acting and expressions.

By the way, in many of the close up scenes I felt that there is some thing wrong with the shape/look of Emilie de Ravin's hand, I mean the part below her elbow till palm. Did anybody else notice the same?

There were some parts of the movie where I started to think that movie is loosing focus and going here and there. But at the end there was a good surprise and then we could correlate everything happened around and everything had a purpose. At then end when the movie finished, there was a very pin drop silence in the hall, since every body was in a very different mood, touched by the movie. So the script writer and the director could be proud that they did their job very well. I thought of standing up and clapping for them.

In short, it is a light family + romantic story taken in a very soft way with a lot of good acting in it. So I am going to give a rating of 8 / 10 for it. Don't miss it, if you like light movies.

Daddy Cool
(2009)

Just OK
I had to see this movie as two parts separately since I couldn't stand the first half and decided to leave the movie halfway. Then later on a Friday evening, when I had nothing else to do, I decided to try the second half of the movie. But I liked the second half.

The movie is of a very simple thread with very light comedy and family drama.

Mamooty and Biju Menon handled their roles brilliantly. Biju Menon's role was very similar to that in Pattalam. Even though in small roles, Vijayaraghavan, Sayikumar and Baburaj also did a decent job. I did not understand the reason to bring Richa Pallod all the way for this movie. She could not deliver much, may be because it was not a kind of a character that she is familiar with. There was nothing wrong to say about Radhika's and Lena's acting and Radhika looked exceptionally beautiful. Daniel Balaji is always good with psychic roles.

I remember there was some news about cricketer Sreesanth acting the role that is done currently by Govind Padmasoorya in this movie. It could have been a good entry for Sree to Mollywood since it was a good role. Anyway Padmasoorya also did not disappoint. I still remember seeing him in a Malayalam album song in which he, as an auto driver, had to run around a police lady through out. Hope he gets better role than that in future.

The biggest flaw of this movie was the selection of the child actor, who did the role of Mamootty's son. Poor kid was struggling to act. He had mouthfull of dialogues and he was literally struggling with them through out. Except for one scene when Mamooty had to kill somebody due to a misunderstanding of the kid and the sequence after that, the kid completely failed to act. Only in that sequence the kid could perform impressing.

At the end of the movie there was a song with a group dance of many of the actors, I have seen such stuff very frequently in bollywood movies. I am happy to see that somebody tried that in malayalam also and I liked it.

I have to explicitly mention about the stunt scenes. They amazed me. Brilliantly executed.

So at the end, I would like to give a 6/10 for this movie, especially because of a nice second half and a good action scene. So if you are trying to watch this movie, don't try to quit halfway, second half is comparatively better and is worth to watch.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
(2009)

Very romantic, like a dream.
Go for this movie without any expectations, then you will like it.

This movie is taken like a dream. All the scenes are shot in an unnatural color and contrast and all the dialogues are unnatural as well. Many of friends who like normally those movies which have more natural touch, did not like this movie at all. But if you are ready to take this movie as a sequence of sweet, soft and dream like scenes, then this is surely a movie for you. Trust me you will like it.

The best scene of the movie is when Katrina reveals about her love to Ranbir, he gets shock of his life time and he keeps his hand on his chest and falls down from the balcony. This scene is shot with one of the best camera angle I have seen. I just loved the scene.

The background score and songs are really brilliant. For awards, if they consider those who make the songs close to the mood of the movie, then Pritam, Salim Sulaiman, Irshad Kamil, Ashiesh Pandit and Hard Kaur really reserve recognition for this work. The songs and background score are very well mixed with movie.

Katrina Kaif performed her role very nicely. Always, when it comes to a doll like character, Katrina is a safe bet (as long as there is not much emotions to be expressed). Ranbir also did the role quite good. But I some how have a problem with his body shape. Since he is having very thin waste, he looks like a triangle pointing down with a head on it, in some dresses. Either he should reduce the mass on his hand muscles to like thinner on top also or he should be careful with his dress selection. Other actors were also OK in the movie. Nobody did anything wrong.

Only one scene which I did not like at all in this movie was the scene in which all these guys trying to convince Upen Patel's father for his marriage using a lot of blood. That scene was quite boring and irritating and was very long as well.

I am going to give a 8 on 10 for this movie, since I really liked it. I have an advice, try to see this movie only if you are a person who does not look for real life inspirations in movies, other wise you are going to hate this movie like anything.

Regular Vijay movie
Being a Vijay fan, I am a bit disappointed that Vijay is trying to be in the same pattern of movies and never thinking of quality.

We have seen every scene of this movie some where else already. I am not calling it a very boring movie. But still nothing special. None of the scenes could touch me by any chance.

Vijay and the Villain Vedanayakam did perform decent in the movie. Anushka did not impress at all, except for the glamour. Her role was exactly same as the one of Thrisha in Thiruppatchi.

Vijay's son appeared very smart in the dance scene, surely he will be an asset for tamil movies in future.

In short this movie is all about Vijay beating thousands and thousands of stunt artists.

Unless you are a Vijay fan, I wouldn't advice you to go for this movie. For Vijay fans this could be an entertainer.

Loved it
One of the very best (In heroine's words - Bestest ;-) ) movies I have seen recently.

I know that this is copied from an English movie (I think from the movie 'If Only'). But may be since I have not seen the original yet, I just loved the plot and the way the movie is taken. A very romantic movie, something very apt to see with your lover on a valentines day or with your wife immediately after marriage or on an anniversary day. This movie can really wake up all the romance in you.

The hero and heroine appeared so nicely together. Climax was brilliant. Director did a decent job. All the actors justified their roles in most of the scenes. Background score and camera was also really nice.

To tell about the negatives, somewhere in the second half of the movie, I felt some scenes were a bit lagging. In very few scenes hero's acting was weird. Songs could have been better.

So I am giving 8/10 for this movie, with a strong advice to watch this special movie with your lover on a romantic evening for sure.

Ninja Assassin
(2009)

Worst movie ever
Unbelievably bad movie. When I came out of the hall, my first thought was that I wasted 99 minutes of my life. Fifty percentage of the time you can see Tomato Ketchup (supposed to be blood) flowing through the screen and body parts are being cut apart. In the hall after the first 10 minutes almost all the audience were chatting to each other, walking around, laughing, etc; since nobody could really stand the movie. When I was coming out the hall I noticed a great relief on every body's face, and some one even clapped with a loud comment about his relief. All the actors did a decent job. Action scenes are taken in such a way that you will not be able to understand anything. Only thing you see is that at the end the hero is standing there with a lot of wounds on his body and all others are lying down as parts. About story, I think I have seen at least 100 movies by now with this same story. Nothing is new. Even is you don't have anything else to do, even if you getting the tickets for free, my advice would be to stay away from this movie.

Bhagyadevatha
(2009)

A typical Satyan movie
It was a very typical Satyan Anthikad movie with a very light subject. It is directed well to keep you never bored. Almost all the actors did very decent job except the heroine Kaniha. Kaniha seems to be a complete wrong cast for the role. She couldn't live as a village Christian girl of Kuttanadu, Kerala. Also she had a bit difficult role to present, and she completely failed with her acting and expressions. In Satyan Anthikad films, best roles always go to actors like Nedumudi Venu, Mamukoya, KPAC Lalitha and Innocent. Even if they have only very small role, they always resemble some real life characters who are at your next door. The same goes in this movie also. Surprising role was of Venu Nagavalli as father of Kaniha, who couldn't keep his promises to son-in-law. With a bit different role than what we have seen Venu till now, he did an extremely superb job. Jayaram as usual took care of his role very easily.

A movie worth watching with family.

Dr. Patient
(2009)

Waste of time
Why do people make this kind of movies?..

Absolute waste of time. Except for one song "Mazha njan arinjirunnilla..." there is not even one scene which is worth watching.

Direction faults are very evident in almost all scenes. The flashing scene of Maniyanpilla Raju's face expressions when the action scene is described to him is an example of this.

The heroine as in her all previous movies, continuing to prove that she can't act. I don't understand still how is she getting movies.

Mukesh makes a lot of unwanted drama expressions with his face in all his scenes. All others in the movie did a decent job in terms of acting but there was not much content.

It is very sad to see most talented Jagathy in these kind of no-role movies.

Annapolis
(2006)

A very nice movie
This movie is really nice and entertaining. I wouldn't say it a real classic or something. But it is still worth your time.

The trailers and promotions gave a completely wrong message to audience with a ship exploding etc. These promotions brought a very different kind of audience into the hall. That should be the reason for this low rating for this movie.

Seeing the trailer I also thought it is a very action oriented navy movie. So I stayed away from this movie for some time. But when I got a chance to see this later, I was really surprised.

It is not an action movie at all. But it has some real content in it. I would call it a very good entertainer supported by very good acting.

Don't miss it.....
