Max Payne
(2008)

Nowhere near the video game....
Ok, the Max Payne video game was amazing. Fun, thrilling, action packed. Then the movie came out.... completely different and not in a good way. The video game was about a guy trying to find the person who murdered his wife. The movie, I don't even know what it's about. There are no supernatural beings in the video game. This was a very sad attempt at this film. I personally think it only made it theaters because of Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. Anyone else it would've been straight to video. Stay away from this film, and go play the video game.

The Hills Run Red
(2009)

A little fast but still pretty sick..
I found this movie about 5-6 years ago at blockbuster and as the cover art persuaded me, I rented it. Watched it. And finished it. Despite the fact it had a bit too much personal drama between characters, it did have some solid violence and gore.

An aspiring film student, Tyler. Goes on to find this never before seen movie "The Hills Run Red" a 1980's slasher that was stripped frpm all theaters at the time being due to it's graphic and violent nature. Egger to find the film, Tyler finds the directors daughter and they scerry off to the old/original film location with his director and sound tech.

The killer is absolutely amazing. The look was definitely new and original.

But I do feel as though it needed more characters, as well as a bit more violence and terror.

All in all this movie is definitely worth a watch!!

Hellraiser: Revelations
(2011)

The New Generation of Pinhead..
Reading all the hate from jealous online losers who don't know how to critique a horror movie because they can't do any better writing their own, I decided to download it and watch it. Expecting to be disappointed, I was very impressed! The acting was good! The story line was amazing and very well executed.

It held two different dimensions of stories. The POV of the two main characters and the future characters.

It still holds the original members of the 1980's Hellraiser. No, Douglas Bradley does NOT play pinhead but the actor who does does a very good job.

This story fits to this generation of horror and that's what makes this film very much worth watching. So do yourself a favor and watch it!! It's a great movie that you will enjoy!!

Bloody Murder 2: Closing Camp
(2003)

You sure it's the same writer...?
Ok, as we all know the first Bloody Murder was a bloody failure and bloody awful, but Bloody Murder 2 is awesome!! How is it written by the same person?

The first one told a tale about a killer named Trevor Morehouse. A kid who was bullied at Camp Placid Pines decades before these new young adult counselors show up to close camp from the summer before. But the story told in the first one differs from the story told in the second.

Anyways,...

The second one to me should have been counted as just Bloody Murder. Since the first one was such a let down and disappointment the second one delivered. It my be a cheesy rip off mockbuster film but it had better acting, more than promised nudity from the one and only, Tiffany Shepis, the sexy horror queen, who gets naked not once but TWICE, showing both full frontal, the Gore enhanced, the kills were much more elaborate and believable. And at the end has a very nice plot twist which makes it all the more better.

With the first one you're not really missing much, so avoid the first one, don't acknowledge it's existence and focus souly on this one. The best one.

Bloody Murder
(2000)

Yikes...I'm going to go back to watching the sequal
About 5-6 years ago I discovered a horror movie at Family Video called Bloody Murder 2. Without Wonder about the first Bloody Murder I checked it out and watched it and loved it. But unfortunately...I just watched the first one and I must say it was very very disappointing. There is barely any horror. It's more like a YouTube video made by some dudes and chicks with nothing but time on their hands with bad acting, knives, and gallons of fake blood.

The special effects are special needs. Nothing is creative. They dialogue is remained over girl talk and boyfriend girlfriend drama and revengey teens.

The acting was utterly atrocious and completely annoying.

The 'kills" were lame and never really showed anything let alone how they were killed until you see them badly act when "acting" being stabbed or shot.

Avoid this movie at all costs.

Maskhead
(2009)

Not August Underground but still good
Ok, first things first. Don't pay attention to the negativity. To Tag pictures is a low budget true underground horror movie production label. And for the 4 I've seen they've delivered what horror should.

Maskhead, not your avergae lesbian couple. Holding auditions for future pornstars but when they refuse to do something asked of them a killer known as Maskhead kills him or her or them.

For a low low budget movie this was pretty good. Fred Vogel is the American Ulli Lommel. He has the talent to tell a story without having a set of good guys that face off with killers.

This isn't August Underground but if you like underground horror movies this one is for you.

Urban Legend
(1998)

Not what I expected but still good..
As a big fan of the late 90's early 2000's horror slasher mystery thriller flicks I was very eager to watch this. Not to mention a fan of 30 Seconds To Mars so Jared Leto was another reason.

This movie is about a killer loose on a fancy college campus who kills a group of friends off using urban legend techniques.

The pacing of the movie wasn't bad for the length between the character settings and the kills, but the end is where it gets a bit annoying. You find out who the killer is and you just want the killer to quit complaining and get on with the end.

Despite the flaws in this movie I will say it's worth a watch.

Devon's Ghost: Legend of the Bloody Boy
(2005)

Power Ranger stars, blood, karate and saw blade bats
I saw this movie when I was in 4th or 5th grade and loved it. What caught my attention most aside from the saw blade in the bat, was the karate scenes between the two main characters and the killer, then years went by and I forgot about it and I found it again and bought it on DVD.

I can see the reason for the hate. The acting wasn't on point. More back story was needed. And the storyline could've been executed better but besides that, it was a great movie!! Great special effects, great action fight scenes. Which is shocking for a horror movie. And of course we can't forget about the baseball bat with the saw blade in it. Definitely a very creative weapon in the horror world. Better than Negans bat in The Walking Dead.

If the story had some better placement and more back story and was executed better it would have been a box office hit in my opinion.

If you are a horror fan or even a power rangers fan this movie is for you.

Borderline Cult
(2007)

Ulli is a very unique film maker who deserves more respect
Boarderline Cult... Apparently based on one of those true stories made into horror movies that you can't seem to find...BUT...that's not the here nor there.

It may be a low budget cheesy no real good guy good girl character setting, the main characters are the killers telling the story.

Ulli is a very talented and unique horror film maker. His vision is one of a kind and he definitely deserves more respect.

If you are a fan of found footage type of horror or based on true story horror then this is definitely the horror movie for you. I would honestly love to see a remake of this made with some crazy plot twists. It is a great story for horror. A new breed of horror if you will. I definitely recommend it if you are only a true dedicated horror movie fan.

Diary of a Cannibal
(2007)

You need to get in the mindset of the writer to understand it.
Ok, I'm going to start off by saying, the negativity towards this movie are written by social losers who don't know how to critique a movie nor even write a movie to prove betterness.

As the aspiring horror film writer/producer/director I am I must say this movie is absolutely phenomenal! As quoted as the title of this review, you need to get in the mindset of the writer to understand the film.

A young hot troubled young lady meets a charming man online and as expected they fall in love and he says the best way to prove her love to him is to gut and kill him, cook him and eat him. After convincing her she does it and is later caught by a civilian who reports it to the local police.

Yes, there are a lot of bounce around shots but like I said, I am an aspiring writer and my most educated answer is Ulli was writing the bounced shots as if he was recreating what was inside the girls head. She had dwelled a story about losing her father and with all the recycled footage was telling the story of the mindset she was in. Hence why she was telling the story to the police in a different set of the film.

So, as a dedicated horror movie fan I must say this movie is absolutely awesome. Even tho it isn't really "horror" persay. It is more crime, dark web style romance with a horror background. But either way it is still entertaining and worth a watch if you can actually put aside what's going on and understand where the writer came from when making this film.

Fear
(1996)

Amazing thriller, dark romance flick!
I remember watching this on TV. The title and storyline struck me and I started very early into the film, missing only the first 20 something minutes. It is an amazing film! Reece Witherspoon is absolutely amazing as well as sexy in this film, and the guy who plays John from Ted is a demented obsessive violent boyfriend. Mark Wahlberg can play anyone! If you're a fan of horror I'd definitely recommend this movie!! Psychological thriller with dark side of romance!!

Valentine
(2001)

Could have been better but still awesome
I saw the music video recently for Orgy's song Opticon and it was a collage of of clips from this horror movie called Valentine. A movie I had no idea existed. So as a dedicated horror fan, I googled the full movie and watched it. As expected, it was great but could have been made a lot better. The killer was great. Great look, great creativity of killing the characters. The girls, sexy, devilish, delicious. The storyline, really good, great idea, but still needs some work. I will give credit that every kill involves a different weapon. Now I'll jump to the ending before my finishing conclusion. You will be shocked at the ending in various ways. But the most upsetting was honestly never really understanding why there was no struggle/fight between the killer and the main characters. The killer was defeated way too fast in my opinion. But other than that this is a great old school 90's Scream reminder type movie. I definitely recommend it!!

The Choke
(2006)

Must be a down horror fan to enjoy!
Even though I am writing this review 12 years later for new readers and people looking to gain a new horror film, I hope they stumble upon my review so they can take into consideration that this is actually a really good horror film.

First things first, yes I know...the acting may not be as best and it may take a while to get into but it keeps you guessing until the very end. Secondly, it has a great soundtrack. That's definitely worth mentioning in my opinion. Thirdly, the fact that the killer is not shown at all until the very end makes it all that much more enjoyable. And forthly, as my finishing conclusion to this review is that I definitely recommend The Choke. It's a very different horror film with rock n roll as well as a very unique plot twist at the end! It is worth every minute! Guaranteed.

The Strangers: Prey at Night
(2018)

Just as good as the original if not better
Ever since the first Strangers came out a decade ago, I've been a fan. I had always heard that they're were gonna be sequals made after it but none ever came to screen truth. So when I saw that a Stranger's: Prey At Night was coming out I had to see it. I finally got the chance to watch it and I must say it's an amazing movie! Much more intense and terrifying than the first. The first was amazing and this was even better. It doesn't waste too much time getting right into the creepiness and horror but once it sucks you in, you won't leave until it's over. Definitely recommend this movie!

Slender Man
(2018)

What is with all the hate...?
After reading all of the hate on this movie, I still paid to go see it and it was better than expected!! No it is NOT going to be like the video game, which I assume is where all the hate came from, so please let the hate go. It is a great movie and whether you're a fan of the video game or not I recommend you go see it! The girls are all hot, especially Joey King! The acting is great and it's over the top creepy!! The setting of the woods was perfect. And it's non stop horror after the first 10-15 mins! Definitely a must see!!
