Cats and Peachtopia
(2018)

This Chinese Import Can't Decide Where it's Going
How in the names of all the gods at once did this get rated PG?! It was a lighthearted family romp to start, but then got super dark about halfway through and only redeemed itself in the last ten minutes or so. The MPAA shouldn't drink and issue ratings at the same time.

(P.S.: A lot of people cite alcohol use in this movie, but I think it was water being drunk out of alcohol bottles. This movie is screwed up, but I don't think the cats are actually drinking!)

Rogue One
(2016)

Only movie I've ever walked out of...
...and a Star Wars movie, no less! That's what REALLY blew my mind!

I remember having trouble keeping track of the plot, checking the time on my phone, struggling to like the movie, checking the time again, wondering how long I should wait before I gave up and left...yikes!

I just finished the novelization and the only thing it did for me was tell me that a character I thought had died while I was still watching hadn't, and that the movie ended exactly like I thought it did.

I can only hope that The Last Jedi won't be so disappointing!

Luminarias
(1999)

Not What You Might Expect
It's been a while since I've seen this movie, but I find it funny that it's basically described as "Sex and the City with Latinas"...it didn't come off that way to me at all. In fact, the number one thing I remember from "Luminarias" is all the racism. The female characters made it clear that the only reason a white woman would want a Latino is for a trophy. Ouch. That's pretty difficult to swallow when the first time I watched the movie was as a teen with a soft spot for Latinos! In fact, that cooled my jets nicely. At the time, I thought, "I'll do everything in my power to prove that white women don't see Latinos as trophies." Now my response is, "If y'all feel that way, I can get along just fine without you!"

Sharpshooter
(2007)

Watch it only if you're a fangirl...
The plot of this movie does nothing for me...it's entirely too predictable. Sniper hates job. Sniper takes one last assignment before retirement. Handler turns on Sniper at the end. Can you GET anymore cookie-cutter? Definitely one of those movies I finish and think, "This could have been SO much better if I'd written it!" (Sadly, the last time I finished this, I burst out laughing. NOT what I want to be doing at the end of a James Remar movie!) That being said, "Sharpshooter" does not get 8/10 stars...REMAR does. I'm a rabid fangirl. I find James Remar driving a black Charger and waving around an assault rifle absolutely hot. The movie itself only receives two stars...and that might be pushing it.

The Great Magic of Las Vegas
(1995)

Worth Buying
I bought this on eBay just for the early Valentino acts (yes, I *am* that nutty!), but it's a good DVD in general.

The six DVDs included in this set provide hours of magical entertainment and contain many talented magicians (as well as a few acts that aren't really magic at all). It's true that most people haven't heard of many of the magicians in this special, but that isn't any reason to pass it up -- all of the segments are worth watching and will leave you with a smile on your face.

If you're considering buying a copy of this DVD for yourself, I'd say go for it! (And not because I spent hours gathering and arranging the information required to get this on IMDb, either! LOL)

Finding Nemo
(2003)

Way Cool!
There wasn't much wrong with this movie, I can tell you that for sure. There were a lot of funny parts and Ellen was a blast as Dory. I liked the fact that the fish were a lot like the actors and actresses that played them, and it was almost like you got to see a new side of everybody. (I heard Willem Dafoe say something comical for once! O.o)

I would SO recommend this movie to anyone (I've been making sure everyone at school has seen it). It's not too cartoonish and it's not just for kids. Even under it's "G" rating, "Finding Nemo" is a lot of fun for the whole family. I can't say much more without spoiling the whole thing. So: GO SEE "FINDING NEMO" ASAP!

End of Days
(1999)

Wonderful!
Oh, what a great movie End of Days was! I saw it the October it came out and I couldn't move for about five minutes after it ended because I was so riveted. Even my dad was a little pale and shaky and he doesn't scare easy. Did I mention I also cried at the end?

"The Burgundy Sheet Scene", "Arnold's Christmas" and "The Wedding" are what ties the movie together, but "The Wedding" is slightly lacking, making a slightly lame ending. Perhaps if Peter Hyams and Gabriel had worked together to write the end, it would have been a lot better.

All in all, top marks!
