CHiPs
(1977)

Greatest Show showing a time when California was the best place in the world
Chips led the way for having shows that highlighted current news events. It also showcased many radical sports which became known as Xgames and others. It's quite a bit Kitchy, on purpose. I find the more I watch it, the more I want to watch it. It is necessary to watch from the beginning so you can watch Ponch become a responsible CHP officer and Jon as a stable mentor. I grew up in the area this was filmed in and enjoy revisiting that area with CHiPs. I did move 6 years before it began. I enjoy the cars and the crazy, impossible accidents that catapult cars through the air in each episode. If you want serious cop drama, watch something else. If you want to have fun watching nice folks and a time when America was great (before racism was invented), this is for you.

Sofia
(2012)

Thoughtful, original sexy movie
I enjoyed this movie very much. It had enough plot twists and interesting characters to keep me interested throughout. The production it first rate. Christian Slater is his usual charming detail oriented actor. The huge star is the lady who wrote and starred in this film. She created a complex, tortured, believable set of characters. This movie is a great Good vs. Evil story. Other than one fight scene which was a little too much A-team, the heroines talents are believable. I think the characters are strong enough to warrant a follow up movie but for some reason most critics didn't like this movie. I recommend it and I would watch it again.

Men of Respect
(1990)

Way too much filler
What starts out as a well rounded, believable cast of mafioso family and associates and what is a pretty decent revenge story with lots of twists is mucked up by spiritual fluff, and a desire to be AL Pacino scarface by the lead man. The spiritual junk that has nothing to do with anything is just totally out of place. The free-fall descent from cold, calculated killers to loony tunes of the main character and his girlfriend makes no sense. Turturros girlfriend starts "sleep-walking" through their garden and talking about what they did is supposed to be believable? Clip about 30 minutes of hoo-hah out and this is a much better movie.

Gravesend
(2020)

Good mafioso series.
Considering that this guy pretty created this show totally by himself, I think he did a fantastic Job. I recommend reinvesting everything into this series. It can become as big as Sopranos. Very nice settings. Good story lines. I enjoy this series very much and eagerly anticipate new shows.

Dunkirk
(2017)

No cohesive flow. Hard to follow
The movie obviously sets out from the beginning to show that Dunkirk was a mess. I get it but for a movie watcher it is frustrating to not understand for a very long time what the director is trying to accomplish. We must follow A random array of characters from infantryman, to private boat owners, fighter pilots and a couple other characters desparate plight in what must be an middle Day in the evacuation timeline. Scenes are a random collection with no glue to hold them other than the flight from France. An obvious expense was used to create the authenticity which in afraid is rather wasted expenditures. The movie would most likely benefit by using an announcer to help keep us on point. I soent most of my time watching remarking "Well that sucks" but not having too much sympathy since the accosted character had no build up to appeciate his dilemma. I do appreciate the interesting perspectives the director obviously tried to show. Men watching other mens actions and demise from their current perspective was a new experience in cinematography. I do not recommend this for prime viewing, rather something to occupy your time on a rainy day or watch while waiting for the wrecker driver to arrive and tow your vehicle to safety.
