Afflicted
(2013)

Vamp P.O.V.
The movie itself isn't bad, but not great either. The concept sounds lame but the execution is great. Similar to Chronicle, yes, similar to other movies, no. I hate vamp movies, but this is something else. One can emphasize with the main character and his journey into self despair. Acting also wasn't that bad, quite good actually. Never seen those 2 before, but they do deliver. The scenery is quite refreshing as it's not your average apartment haunting of P.O.V. It also delivers on some creepy moments. Rather few, but properly done. Conclusion: Afflicted is a movie for every POV lover who likes a twist on perspective around the mid of the movie. Enjoy :)

Seal Team Eight: Behind Enemy Lines
(2014)

Call of Poopy & Medal of GoPro
This movie was sort of special. The only way to review this movie is by list points.

Here's what's wrong with it: Hand signals/commands are often wrong and extremely overused. Too many GoPro camera shots. Cliché'd soldier lines. Cliché'd scenarios. Extensive use of weapons with total disregard of gun mechanism reality. Blow stuff up first and then ask questions. Highly unprofessional & childish tactics. HQ felt like a LAN-Party and not as official intelligence center. No characters are even remotely likable. Cheesy drama (Soldier dies). LOL Entire movie feels like White Boys vs Nigros. That's how political incorrect that movie is.

The good thing: Blow stuff up. A lot of it. And millions of rounds of bullets. Like rain. Or a hailstorm.

It's nothing compared to any other military movie, because this one, is cheap in every regard. If you like Call of Duty rip-offs and those sorta indie FPS video games, you will watch this, for sure, yet you will shake your head at how ridicules this movie was. Nevertheless, if you like bullet rain and bombs blowing up, give it a try.

Grand Piano
(2013)

The Grand Piano Phonebooth
"Grand Piano" has a certain resemblance to "Phonebooth".

1 selected victim, 1 anonymous perpetrator, 1 hostage.

It's a solid thriller and contains some very nice cinematography and set design, however, the end was not satisfying enough. It left too many questions open. It was meant to be left open, yet didn't come across that well.

Elijah Wood's scared performance (and his gazing blue eyes) were definitely an asset to the movie. John Cusack on the other hand was quite the disappointment.

Still, worth a watch.

Oldboy
(2013)

Newboy
Josh Brolin's performance in the western remake of Oldboy was a very promising role.

His dramatic acting surely did take another leap forward. Of coarse, one cant compare this to the Asian original as it was totally different in the whole feel.

But if trying to watch the new Oldboy without the consent of the old Oldboy, this is a very decent stand-alone movie with an epic twist at the end.

No loose ties.

Watch it if you're in for a deep storyline and hit-n-punch.

Cold Comes the Night
(2013)

Cold Comes the Heisenberg
Bryan Cranston will always be Mr Heisenberg / Walter White. BUT, "Cold Comes the Night" surely gives him another new perspective with a strong character role and a different accent.

The movie itself was highly dramatic, especially with Logan Marshall-Green going AWOL demonstrates the severity of the problem at hand. Alice Eve's role did portrait a certain realism and willingness to change.

The scenes were well structured and ties up the storyline well.

This is a solid thriller with little questions left at the end and should be enjoyed for true acting performances.
