Land of Bad
(2024)

Russell Crowe is incredible
The Land of Bad follows a.special ops rescue mission to its conclusion. The tone and feel of the movie is reminiscent of Sicario and Top Gun: Maverick. The story is good with some unexpected twists, thrills, and lessons.

All of the actors do a great job but Russell Crowe steals the screen through the character 'Reaper,' a civilian contractor working as a drone operator. Reaper cares deeply about his job and takes the mission seriously. The team in the field is his number one priority and that's what makes Reaper so darn likable.

All in all the action looked and felt great but that's not what makes Land of Bad a good movie. In fact, I wouldn't even call Land of Bad an action flick. At its heart, Land of Bad is drama about the difficulties surrounding modern combat and its effect on our psyche.

Don't get me wrong. It's not an Oscar winner or anything but it's a serious and entertaining movie that I enjoyed enough to write this review.

True Detective: Night Country: Part 1
(2024)
Episode 1, Season 4

True Disappointment
Season 4 of True Detective is nothing like the other seasons. This time around the show is fixated on western culture, character drama, and feminism. There's barely any mention of a murder and no coverage of the case.

There's supernatural elements (ghosts/zombies?), terrible CGI animals, and lots of girl power, but no murder mystery. Jodie Foster is great, but the character is boring. The other characters are annoying and unlikable. The music is good but out of place.

I'm seriously disappointed. Season 1 was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. Season 4 has so much cringe that it's unwatchable.

Thor: The Dark World
(2013)

Female Thor
The movie was very light-hearted, with lot's of narration, short clips, and cliché fight scenes. The most egregious part was having a female version of Thor. It doesn't make sense at all. I guess they're going to do this with all movies.

Overall the movie is watchable, so long as you can overlook the nonsense I suppose. The special effects looked good. There's several good fight scenes in the daylight. But for the most part, this movie just feels like a quick cash grab.

Marvel knows how to make good movies, but the producers keep messing around with the storylines.

All in all, this will make a good date movie, even if you sleep all the way through it.

The Rehearsal
(2022)

So stupid, and yet, it's one of the best things I have ever seen
Everything about this show is amazing. It's an absolute masterpiece.

The show is about giving people the ability to rehearse an important event in their life. They go through incredible lengths to make sure everything is perfectly accurate. That part is impressive, but it's not really the best part of the show.

Somehow, the makers have an incredible ability to highlight the subtle things that make life complicated, fascinating, weird, and most importantly, human.

The Rehearsal is an emotional rollercoaster that everyone should experience.

Fatman
(2020)

Best Christmas Movie of All Time
I'm not sure why this movie is ranked so low. Everything about it is incredible. Mel Gibson never fails to deliver. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire film, which is really rare for me.

The Last Duel
(2021)

A High Quality Film with a Thoughtful Story
It's a wretched tale about the wretched lives of men and women in the middle ages. It is an attractive movie with incredible acting, wardrobe, and sets. The camera angles and choreographery are pretty standard for this style of movie, but the storyline is unique as well as the way it unfolds. I really do think it's the story that makes this film so special, but it was done very well.

Succession
(2018)

Fantastic dialogue
All of the characters are worthy of loathing. The story is gross and pretentious. The production level is on par with the US version of "The Office."

The best part of this show is the dialogue, which is some of the best I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant writing. I have laughed so hard during show, and I'm not even sure it's supposed to be a comedy.

It's way better than most of the garbage out there, even if it suffers from the same moral bankruptcy that's so prevalent in modernity.

Enter the Void
(2009)

Something to Behold
This hyper-realistic masterpiece, is the perfect choice to watch with headphones and about 6 grams of mushrooms. The visuals, cinematography, and interpretations of conscious experience are without a doubt, some of the best that film has to offer.

My only complaint would be to the actual storyline, which is unrelenting, sleazy, and thought-provoking. Told in an unique way, the story gets in the way of the amazing sounds, visuals, and mini-experiences, but no one should apologize. It's fning great!

Game of Thrones
(2011)

Perfection
Game of Thrones is a 70 hour long film that can only be described as excellence. Everything about this movie is amazing. The characters, the acting, the story, the wardrobe, the choreography, the special effects, the humor, the nudity, the dialogue, and everything else. I don't see how it can get better than this.

Ready or Not
(2019)

Samara Weaving Delivers an Amazing Performance
This is an incredibly fun horror flick. Easily one of the best in the genera. This movie is almost as good as Zombieland.

Good Boys
(2019)

Best Coming of Age Move Yet
This movie is absolutely hysterical. I'm not sure why it's rated so low. This is probably better than SuperBad. It's wholesome, accurate, witty, clever, and fun. The soundtrack was fantastic, the casting was perfect, and the story was well written. I loved this movie.

Triple Frontier
(2019)

Grade A+
I really enjoyed this movie. The shots were beautiful, crisp, and realistic. The story was compelling and refreshing. The acting was spot on. I really don't know how anyone involved in this could have done a better job. Everything comes together quite nicely. It's not the best movie ever, but it's a lot better than most movies.

Calibre
(2018)

Realistic, Powerful, Heartwrenching
Wow, just wow. Everything about this movie was solid. Do not watch if you are emotionally unstable.

The Umbrella Academy
(2019)

Overrated
Ellen Page is just awful. She is embarrassingly unbelievable and gross to look at. The rest of the cast did a good job, but the whole thing just fell flat. The only likable character was the donut lady. The story was predictable but somewhat entertaining. Blah.

Russian Doll
(2019)

Groundhog day for Biggots
I didn't make very far into this series. It just appears to be another one of those shows that uses every opportunity to spread leftist propaganda.

Searching
(2018)

The Most Realistic Movie Yet
This entire movie plays out like a national headline, telling the story in a unique and captivating may. The plot is interesting, gripping, and most of all, realistic. I am very impressed.

The Last Kingdom
(2015)

The Best for this Time Period
This show is amazing. The characters, the plot, the realism, the costumes, everything about this show is fantastic. It's better than Game of Thrones.

Outlaw King
(2018)

Top Notch Film, Should Have Been Longer
Amazing cinematography, excellent acting, + good story. Braveheart is an incredibly powerful movie. Unfortunately Outlaw King was not so powerful, but it was entertaining and gripping.

Definitely worth a watch!
