I Am Lisa
(2020)

More than worth a look
Unless you're expecting a masterpiece, this wasn't half bad. A non existant budget and novice actors actually added a few points since I was expecting almost nothing and got a decent horror flick. Granted the script was by the numbers but the lead was decentnt and the two sisters played their parts (evil and good) very well.

The Stand
(2020)

UTTER GARBAGE
I would like to know how you screw up this masterpiece. Skipping back and forth may seem artistic but its confusing. Add in that Frannie and Harold are completely unsympathetic characters and this is a mess. James Marsden is decent usually but completely miscast here. In addition, scenes which were in the book.....well I give up. Worst of all, this is only the first episode.

Haven
(2010)

Great show but jumped the shark in the last season
I generally liked the show and especially some of the supporting characters. Audrey was likeable, especially as her evil self Mara. Duke steals the show week in and week out. Vince and Dave are good as the town's hostorians. And surprise, Dwight (former WWE superstar Edge) is a guilty favorite. BTW, his partner Christian shows up in the last season. Gloria's acerbic wit always brought a smile as did several other semi regulars.

The issue starts to warp downhill when Audrey's original persona takes over after William comes along. Mara is the bad girl version of Audrey and takes everyone along for the ride. She eventually causes Duke's love Jennifer to die.

The final season comes along and everything goes to hell. The big baddie turns out to be Croatoan (played by William Shatner of all people) who turns out to be Audrey/Mara's power hungry father. Troubles pop out of the woodwork like rain from the sky and the town is doomed.

While several of the characters get bittersweet sendoffs, Duke becomes a unnecessary casualty with a crappy end. And dear old dad has been banished but not before realizing the error of his ways (a crap end considering how evil he was).

So basically a 9 for the first three and a half seasons and a 5 for the remaining episodes.

Shadowlands
(2020)

UTTER WASTE OF TIME
This was more of a student film and not a good one at that. The plot revolves around some Manson conspiracy so it might appeal to some fringe element. Otherwise, avoid at all costs.

House of Purgatory
(2016)

Utter waste of time.
The two stars are for the opening which was amusing. The rest? ZZzzzzzzz. Oh and these are the oldest looking teenagers i've ever seen.

Truth or Dare
(2012)

Good movie until the end
The setup was nice and the actors all did thier parts. The real issue is that none of the 'victims' were likeable in the least. And the reveal at the end of the movie and that's why it wasn't worth anything more than a five.

The idea that the s****y characters are somehow redeemable is laughable especially the girl who survived who was the worst of the lot. Definitely left you with a bad taste in your mouth.

Glass
(2019)

Great ending for a great trilogy.
The conclusion of the three films is outstanding but sadly, many people will hate it. Does NOT have tons of action, explosions or sexual content. So if your attention span is non existant, this film is not for you. It is well written with characters that you feel for. Willis' Dunn character is spot on and McAvoy nails Crumb to perfection once again. And watching Sam Jackson as Elijah is almost pure poetry; a role he was born to play. The ending was more reality based and thus probably unsatisfactory for many who expect the happy ending for the hero. Still, its parallel to the current world is eerie and too close to reality for most. (Hint. The good guy doesn't win in the end). Great movie that I'd highly recommend.

The Perfection
(2018)

Disturbing tale of revenge
While I have to say this was a bit predictable, that was mainly due to having seen hundreds of horror movies, including foreign ones. What it reminded me of was another Japanese horror film called the Audition. If you've seen that, you'll be prepared for this tale. There were several similar tropes (especially the ending) and the acting was pretty good.
