Legends
(2014)

Sean Bean's death streak is broken, and what a break this is.
Last year people were hyped about Blacklist. It was an FBI series with secrets, plot-twists etc etc. And it was a pretty good series too.

Then, in 2014 we get Legends. Oh boy does it make Blacklist look petty in comparison. Legends follows Sean Bean as an FBI agent who works in the Undercover Department, incarnating "Legends" (the fake identities agents make up for their missions). However, Martin (Sean Bean) starts to question his identity, as someone claims that he isn't who he thinks, and that Martin Odoum is just another Legend.

The story is intriguing on its own, and Sean Bean's acting is simply over the top. The way he is able to incarnate each and every Legend is absolutely amazing. Besides Sean Bean, the plot is really interesting and it gets better with each and every episode. Every week I'm hook in front of my TV set, dwelling further and further into the mystery.

A 2014 must watch, don't miss out on this one!

American Reunion
(2012)

Back to basics.
The American Pie franchise accompanied generations of teens through their teenage years, and for a good portion of us, it was the first time we saw nudity. I still remember coming home from the video club, going straight up to my room and locking the door, just so my folks wouldn't freak out. American Pie was the movie that started the whole American/romance/comedy genre. And then it turned sour. Yeah, we were excited with American Pie, we loved American Pie 2. We sat through American Wedding. On Band Camp, well, that didn't lived up to our expectations. Naked Mile was kind of an improvement, but still. Then came the Beta House. That kinda reminded the first few, but it was still lacking something. And then it hit us. The Book of Love. Damn. If I could undo watching a movie, Book of Love would definitely be it. What a tremendous pile of garbage that movie was. Most of us thought that this was it, our beloved series would end like that.

But, thankfully, someone felt the need to redeem themselves, and voilà, American Reunion was made. It's everything the first movies were, and even more! It sports the original cast, the original hilarious moments and has the same old "feel". I know I mentioned the cast, but it also has the original Stifler. A must watch for anyone who loved the first few movies and/or grew up in the nineties.

Chef
(2014)

Yum.
Chef is the story of a chef (would you guess?) working at restaurant where he's not allowed to make any decisions regarding the menu. Things go bad when he gets reviewed by the same reviewer that called him a "culinary prodigy" years back, and he's still not allowed to alter the menu to prove himself. Long story short he goes on a rampage bashing the guy (which ends up on youtube) and the story from then on takes its turn. With his kid and his best friend, the start touring the US selling traditional sandwiches. It's a great movie, the food scenes are amazing, making you wish you were the one eating these goodies (especially the scene with the french toast/grilled cheese sandwich comes to mind). For younger generations, the depiction of Chef's struggling to use Twitter correctly accurately depicts the struggle older folks have using all these new "features" of the internet. I was kinda disappointed we didn't see any more of my dear old Scarlett, but oh well! She's still a welcomed addition to the cast, a cast that boasts Sofia Vergara. How can you skip a movie that has Scarlett and Sofia in it? Give it a go, you'll like it :)

Bad Words
(2013)

Quite better than people give it credit for.
Well, this movie isn't necessarily your typical Sunday night comedy. It's a little bit darker. However, Jason Bateman's acting is amazing. He's pretty much 90% of the film, fair and square, and he pulls off his character perfectly. There are some pretty funny scenes, and his cynicality won me over. The kid is actually pretty likable, unlike other child actors who make watching certain films unbearable (a quality that should not be overlooked, given that he has decent screen time). All and all, it's a pretty intriguing story, has quite a few funny moments and makes time pass rather enjoyably. I would suggest watching this film.

Warrior
(2011)

A true diamond in a sea of garbage.
Warrior is the most heart-melting movie I've seen in a while. Movies of 2011 have been all the same, and much of a disappointment, if I may say so. But this one is different. The story of two troubled siblings, each fighting for it's own just cause, whilst avoiding the ghosts of the past. Their worlds will rumble as they will have to face each other, their father and their most well-kept secrets in a fight that will decide the life of the one or the redemption of the other. With every fight won, I cried tears of joy, with every punch taken, I feared for the brothers. This movie is so touching, even though it dwells in the primal sport of the MMA. A true masterpiece, probably the best that 2011 has given us so far.
