Uncut Gems
(2019)

Looked incomplete
More than the movie parasite, Uncut Gems explains the concept of parasite clearly when one lender turns on his borrower even when the borrower had actually made a huge profit using his credit he took from his lender. Adam does justice to the role of an ambitious diamond merchant who tries to make amends for his lenders by trying to buy one of the opals from the African Jewish community without knowing if his risks would indeed be worthy enough for the efforts.

Although Adam Sandler seems artful during the initial parts of the movie, he rather looked gullible when he was hoodwinked by the African group with the Black Opal by selling him for a price that it was not worth for. There are too many scenes that show how helpless the protagonist is when he is unable to spend time with his family and is constantly under the dagger, but beyond a point, those scenes seemed unnecessary to the plot.

The movie explains how heartless the loan sharks are in the NYC business centres and how seemingly clever men fall for ways that send them to the abyss. Although some moments created palpable tension in the audience, the movie as a whole fails to cut ice. You never know if the movie was created to evoke sympathy for the protagonist or to cast a bad light on his business practices as well as that of the loan sharks.

Unforgiven
(1992)

Revisionist portrayal at best
Clint Eastwood has done justice to the revisionist view of the wild west and the lives of the bounty hunters. While the protagonist (Will Munny) repent the actions of his past but the dire straits lead him to the abyss (killing spree) once again. The gory details in the climax have made any possible romanticism of the wild west impossible. Rightly so this movie has been added to the National Film Registry of US for being culturally important while portraying the wild west objectively. Some parts of the movie lacked and supporting character "Schofield" depiction was little inconsistent. Nevertheless, this movie deserves to be seen.

The Irishman
(2019)

Simply a brilliant mockery of gangsters.
One of the best movies directed by Martin Scorsese. This movie is a about a desolate gangster who revists his life while sitting in a wheelchair in a oldage home. Even after having killed so many during life and having betrayed his closest friend, the protagonist does feel remorseful at all.

This is the director's touch of Martin Scorsese (just like Stanley Kubrick's anti-war movies) where his mockery of gangsters of the 19th and 20th century were so full of themself that they were totaltly shut off from they misery they had casued to their near and dear ones.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
(2013)

andy samberg leads the way
Modern day sit-com that not only has all the elements necessary to tickle the funny bones but also deals with topical social issues like Homosexuality, sexual assault on women and what not.

Jake Peralta spontaneously carries all the episodes and never has he overshadowed other characters in the series even though he it the protagonist in the show.

Captain Ray holt's stoicism mixed with breezy quips makes his character the most interesting one the series.

Amy Santiago and uptight and finicky detective who wants her boss ray holt to mentor her for in her pursuit to become a captain one day finds love of her life in jake which appeared absolutely natural.

Charles boyle, jake's best friends an earnest character in the series gives his best in whatever he tries. His flirtation with Rosa and his short-lived relationship with Gina shows that he is never serious in marrying a woman after his first marriage failed. He is the ultimate fangirl of the "peraltiago" scenes and wants them to together forever which earns the love of the audience.

Terry and Gina lighten up the mood of the precinct along with Scully and Hitchcock with whom no one wants to be associated with.

Foreign Correspondent
(1940)

disappointment
Unlike all the other Hitchcock movies, this movies does not have a good character development and at the end the movie looked incomplete. The lead protagonist "Haverstock" is an exuberant and charming young reporter who has a penchant for his new assignment. While the entire movie is headed towards the right direction, the other reporter ffolliott steals the show in the second half of the later half of the movie which overshadows the role of the protagonist.

The movie is logical and accurate on many scientific aspects of the plot. The climax where the English airplane bombed by the Germans had a realistic portrayal of the plane going and the crew trying to escape the plane without defying the logic or the Archimedes principle.

Although there were some interesting moments in the movie, the major part of movie was largely dull and elicited the wrath of the audience.

Kaithi
(2019)

Unrealistic movie that survives due to the emotional connection between a convict and his daughter.
Although the director has put his heart and soul in this movie, most of the sequences in this movie looks unrealistic. The protagonist more or less looks like a immortal being sent into this plot who could survive infinite amount of melee attacks and could also survive several stone attacks on the back of head.

One part of the plot that revolves around the police station was too good to be true. When a bunch of youngsters who are detained in police station for drunken driving in a normal world wouldn't involve themselves in acts that could potentially prove to be fatal. But, the director defies the norm here. The detained group of youngsters (read as good samaritans) decide to help a old cop who has been transferred to that police station that night keep vigil until the protagonist along with the senior cop arrive there. As one would expect, the police station that has rogues filled in it and parasitic thugs who try to jail break the police station from the outside finally butcher one of the detainees.

Just like his previous film, "maanagaram", lokesh kanagaraj has made this movie with logic defying stunts that are absurd to say the least. In spite of all this, the emotional bond between the protagonist who waits for 10 years to see his daughter for the first time lifts the spirits of the entire movie which is otherwise pulled down by the trite sequences.

Caste discrimination dealt in the most powerful way
Throughout our the movie vetri maran has dealt caste discrimination in a way that wouldn't offend anybody but would also send powerful message across the aisle.Dhanush and Manju warrier have essayed their roles with ease. This is best movie I have seen that demonstrates the cruelty of caste discrimination

Joker
(2019)

Extraordinary performance
That was a distinguished display from Joaquin phoenix. His acting carried the movie which otherwise had a wafer thin storyline. There was a sense that one more movie showing the adulthood trauma (PTSD) was needed to make the movie appear complete.

Gravity
(2013)

Nothing to do with space
This movie is just an emotional drama under the disguise of space venture/sci-fi. In fact the movie rarely cares about the limitations of physical capabilities in space. Doesn't deserve the academy awards for best movie and best direction.

Friends
(1994)

couldn't get any better
This is by far the best sitcom I have ever watched. Having watched other immensely successful sitcoms like the office, I would ascertain the character development in friends is incredible. Most of the characters by the end of the show did not change their character from what it was at the beginning of the show. There were too many moments that were emotionally connected to me which is where David and Marta Kaufmann done a fabulous job. Monica has this finicky character which some of the audience might not like but her other aspects more than make for it.

Initially, Chandler's character looked the most comical during the first two seasons but after that Joey's character stood out to best in the series throwing up with instantaneous jokes that would tickle most of the bones in our body.

The scene where Joey is asked to describe the relationship between Monica and Chandler and add something about the love he consciously uses alliteration with loving....sharing.....giving....taking.... even after he inadvertently uses a better description of how they meant to him. That is the best scene of the series.
