8 Days
(2014)

Sound of Freedom and Taken show trafficking overseas. 8 Days shows trafficking in the USA.
This is based on actual events. This really does happen.

But, as someone who has been involved with a local organization that fights sex trafficking, I can say this is not the most common way sex trafficking happens in the US.

The stories of BB and Sugar are much more common scenarios that play out in the states.

Although noticeable low budget, the film does a fantastic job of showing how anyone, even a wealthy protective family with a bright teenager, can find themselves in this kind of situation with only a couple poor choices. It also does great at showing how the different roles can play out.

The recruiter, the traffickers, the abusers, the bottom girl, the other victims etc.

Godzilla vs. Kong
(2021)

Massive Disappointment by every measure
I really enjoyed all the movies leading up to this. So I had high hopes for this film.

This was an utter disappointment.

CGI - subpar. I felt it was noticeably less quality on this film vs the others in this series.

Acting - all around the acting just in not very good. There's not many movies that I watch and think "there's no way that's how someone would have delivered that line." But there are many such instances in this film.

Screenplay - wow, laughable at every turn. I could do a scene by scene for how terrible the story is.

Consistency - there is so much here that is not consistent throughout the film. Both with story and with the effects/CGI. Example: in one moment Kong or Godzilla will completely destroy an entire structure with no effort, then the next moment, they will smash into a building and just leave a dent.

Ending - anti-climatic.

The Syndrome
(2014)

Just as we see today, a small group controls the narrative and impacts the entire culture.
Just as we see today, An individual or small group with a lot of influence has the power to control a narrative that impacts the entire culture and has tremendous effects. In this case, just like many others, with little or no actual science or facts to back up their claims.

Critical thinking and personal research are so very valuable and necessary.

They did a great job of laying out the information, usual actual quotes and voice clips and videos to substantiate all their evidence and basis for the case they were making.

Also note, the changing of the terminology is something we see today as well.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
(2022)

Epic let down... Marvel FLOP
The first Black Panther movie was great.

This was so disappointing.

The story line was sporadic and was a poor attempt to cram a ton of material in one movie without making us care about the characters enough.

Plot was flimsy.

When the new Black Panther comes into play... all the sudden they not only invincible but an acrobatic war lord, even though they had no real prior history fighting.

Absolutely amateur production.

CGI was dry just downright poor.

There was literally one single battle scene that was in wide screen and the rest of the movie was in full screen. So as they toggled back and forth between the two different battle scenes your picture on screen keeps changing from full screen to wide screen.

They also if a terrible job with explaining king T'Challa's death.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
(2022)

There are only a handful of sequels that rival the original. This is one.
Wow, I think this may actually be better than the first.

This is a fantastic wholesome family movie. Fun pop culture references. Nothing really inappropriate (there is reference to the groin of a robot being a potential weakness).

Great acting, well thought out screen play and excellent production.

-just as funny as the first -new and awesome character additions -more insight to backstory -fast paced delight from scene one. No dead time in this movie, it's all plot -great action -good moral messages

They topped it off with a short Pantera snippet during a scene with Robotnik.

Awesome, excellent, great.

Monster Hunter
(2020)

I Fell asleep but wife said it ended in the middle of an action scene.
I Fell asleep but wife said it ended in the middle of an action scene.

And the CGI was not great.

Raya and the Last Dragon
(2021)

Very lame. Don't expect to be moved in any way.
One of the main characters is a dragon which is a lame attempt at duplicating something like Mushu from Mulan (Eddie Murphy) except the vocal actress was awful at bringing the character to life and making anything remotely exciting or funny.

If you have easy to please young kids they will probably love this movie. But for an adult or anyone who appreciates quality film, you will be epically disappointed.

The screenplay was weak.

This movie won't make you laugh, cry, smile or anticipate anything. It's just good enough to not make you turn it off in disgust.

We Can Be Heroes
(2020)

The kids liked it...
If you are over 10 years old or have even the slightest appreciation for screenplay, acting or directing you will hate this movie.

This is an ok movie to put on for the kids If the adults aren't interested but seriously, what do the kids not like?

The Old Guard
(2020)

Plot was thick, didn't meet potential though
Good action, great story, still felt it was mediocre. Would recommend. Wouldn't watch again.
