Its bad.
Its really bad I didn't like the actors.
The script was bad.
The directing was bad.
Who in this reality would release this to real theatres. It is not even good enough for online.
Most of the action scenes were off camera until that last one.
It had silly scenes, like Kerry Washington getting in a punching/slug match with 2 people, she is 50 years, while 90% of it was off camera, it was still silly. I can only imagine how bad it looked that they only showed the back of her head for a few minutes of it bouncing around.
Even the opening scene, somehow our unarmed main action star takes out a roomful of people with automatic weapons, because he is just that tough. Well I assume he did because they are all dead, and he walks away but it was all off camera so hard to tell.

The show has all the right ingredients for success: a talented cast with proven track records, an engaging premise, and a setting ripe with potential.
It should be great. It obviously resonates with many viewers based on other reviews and I wonder if the reviews are split based on nationality as this show feels very America with humour very specific to the US.
But I found it incredibly dull-and it took some time to figure out why. Despite having all the right elements, none of them are developed in a way that makes you care.
The series feels stuck in a never-ending introduction phase, where characters are presented but never fully fleshed out. You're left watching stand-ins waiting for personality or purpose that never arrives.
I think it is because the direction and writing seem to keep the cast in first gear. I've seen these actors deliver much stronger performances elsewhere but here they're reduced to cardboard cut outs serving a script that drifts from scene to scene like a series of failed skits.
That format can work, but only if it's funny. This it was so uninspired. I could see the actors would like it, the cast is large they get to rock up do exactly what they are told , "Hit their mark" and move on, the show show feels so dry.
Every scene feels like a skit separate from all the others then just assembled in whatever order they felt like in editing, because most scenes the order does not even matter.
Basically if you want a dry, vaguely comic (sort of), characterless sludge of random skits this is it.

The actors except for a few exceptions are solid, sadly one of them is the lead.
It started off fine, a bit of mystery, until about 20% in where they dump all the info about what is really happening.
The writer definitely does not read any Scifi, because out of all the possibilities this has got to be the lamest story lines I could imagine, as soon as I realised there is nothing clever the movie really went down hill.
Its basically just sims, crossed with the Matrix with a bit of action on top. All comes off as a very poor rip of some aspects of the Matrix without any of its depth. We even have a bit of "bullet time" special effects.
They ignored the "show dont tell" which would have made the movie better. And exactly why you should care about a game of sims as some sort of crime against humanity is just ridiculous.
