Marupadiyam
(1993)

A gentle touch!
Any Balu Mahendra film for that matter, won't be just another film. Of course, this film is a remake. But you could see Balu Mahendra in every frame.

Cinematography is as usual excellent. Music by Ilaiyaraaja will stir your heart.

I won't call this a true art film. For in some way it does have commercial elements.

Revathy, Rohini, Aravind Swamy and Ravi played important roles. All were just fantastic! Personally I liked Aravind Swamy the most. Balu has once again scored in direction.

Many films may become successful at box office. But only few films remain in our heart. Balu('s) Marupadiyum enters your heart!

Sandhya Raagam
(1989)

Masterpiece from the legend!
A true masterpiece from Balu Mahendra. A natural story with beautiful performances. A sensible climax.

The hero is Chokkalinga Bhagavathar - an old man. He truly knows what acting is. Archana and Veera Santhanam have done a great job as well.

L. Vaidyanathan's music, did not create any great impact, but it was not a drawback as well.

This film made in 1989 was shot in black and white. This is a main advantage for the film.

Cinematography, Editing, Story, Screenplay, Dialogue and Direction by Balu Mahendra. This is definitely one of his best films. A true art film from the hands of the legend.

Enjoyable!
A nice comical flick from Balu Mahendra.

I really loved it! Performance of Mohan was extraordinary! Raadhika, Archana and V. K. Ramaswamy have also done their job very well!

Ilaiyaraaja's music was awesome as always! Especially, 'Raja Raja Chozhan' and 'Kannan Vanthu' are evergreen hits.

Camera, Editing, Direction, Screenplay and Dialogues by Balu Mahendra was awesome!

You will enjoy throughout the film! It's a wonderful piece from Balu Mehendra.

On the whole, I would say that this is an evergreen classic.

Rhythm
(2000)

A nice film...
We like so many films. But we like to watch only a few films any number of times. For me, Rhythm is one such film.

This is definitely Director Vasanth's best film.

The performance of all the actors were good. This film is the best film of Arjun Sarja as well as Meena. The small boy has done his role superbly. Nagesh's role and Lakshmi's role impressed me.

Visual Effects could have been better, but that doesn't really matter.

The music by A. R. Rahman was awesome. Camera by P. S. Vinod was very good.

The film has all the contents to satisfy the audience.

A must watch for all.

Panneer Pushpangal
(1981)

A Pleasant Breeze...
Panneer Pushpangal, is first of all a remake of a Hollywood film named 'A Little Romance'. I haven't seen that English film and I don't want to. Because Panneer Pushpangal has everything one would expect it to have.

The film is about love in school days...

Debut Directors, debut Actors, but that doesn't let the film go down.

The overall performance of all the actors were good. Especially, Prathap was my favorite. He is an excellent actor, and this character suits him perfectly.

The music by our Maestro Ilaiyaraaja was AWESOME!! I loved the songs and BGM's. Camera was decent.

It's definitely an evergreen film. Though the school life and love which we see today is not the same as it was in those days, you will like it.

On the whole, the film is a must watch for all.

Mouna Guru
(2011)

A Must watch
A very good film.

The film is a wonderful thriller in the history of Tamil Cinema.

The performance of all the actors were good, especially those of Uma Riyaz Khan and Arulnidhi.

With this film, I would definitely say that Arulnidhi has a good future.

No one would ever believe that this is Santha Kumar's debut film. He has done the film with perfection.

Camera by Mahesh Muthuswami was decent. Music by Thaman could have been better.

Pavithra
(1994)

A good film...
The movie is simply superb.

The young Ajith had done his part well. Nassar, a good actor has done his role well too. And, Radhika, the real hero of the film. Her part was the best.

For those who want to see Ajith Kumar in a good and different role must watch this film.

A true love has been depicted in a very nice way by the Writer and Director K. Subhash.

The comedy track of Vadivelu and Kovai Sarala could have been avoided.

A. R. Rahman's music was very good. Bernat S. David's camera was nice.

Johnny
(1980)

My All-time Favorite
A very good film and a must watch for everyone. Excellent direction by Mahendran and beautiful performance by Rajnikanth (and Rajnikanth!) and Sridevi. The casting was perfect, music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja was awesome and camera by Ashok Kumar was decent.

Probably it's the only film which I've seen many times in my lifetime and I love to watch it for many more times too.

The story was good except for one place where I'm confused till date. It is the starting scene, where the character named 'Vidyasagar' is shown to be a Robber. But actually, the character named 'Johnny' is only the Robber.

Anyways, except for that, it is a very good film.

Pachaikili Muthucharam
(2007)

A good film
Though many are quite upset with the film, I'm quite impressed.

First of all, I would say Sarath Kumar was apt for the role. Though he's not an excellent actor, when compared to Cheran or Madhavan (who were approached to do this role before him) he's a better choice.

Jyothika, a very good actress, has done her role well, except for some places.

I felt that Andrea's performance was better than that of Jyothika's.

Dialogues were good in most of the places. Direction could have been better. Camera was good. Editing was good too. Music was nice.

Though Gautam Vasudev Menon said that Sarath Kumar was wrong for the film, I would surely say that this is a landmark film in Sarath Kumar's career.
