Sonny
(2002)

Poor Acting and Directing
I thought this film would blow me away and might be original considering the subject matter. I was wrong. The acting was less than average from 3 actors that are usually brilliant. The characters are inconsistently played (except for Brenda Blethyn), probably due to poor direction. Blethyn's character is over the top and melodramatic. Mena's is wispy and under-played and James Franco's doesn't have half the impact it should.

In short, without spoiling the plot, I expected far more from Nicolas Cage and from the actors.

Poor effort from a story that had the potential to be interesting, emotional and gripping.

Who Killed Baby Azaria?
(1983)

Absolutely abysmal acting, writing and directing.
After watching "A Cry in the Dark" and "Through My Eyes", this made for television movie left me disgusted. The writing, acting and directing are all abysmal to put it nicely.

It is clear that Frank Moorhouse (writer and narrator) researched little more than court documents to put together this awful documentary style tele-drama.

Moorhouse's narration is strained and told from the prosecution's point of view and there is little point of view from the Chamberlain family. The acting is horrible to say the least and it's no wonder Lindy Chamberlain was so disappointed in this obviously rushed and biased film.

The so-called "scientific evidence" (that was eventually quashed when the Chamberlains were exonerated) is presented in a rushed and careless manner . No scientific evidence or research conducted and collected by the defense team was presented at all.

This tele-drama serves one purpose: for you to be left thinking that Lindy Chamberlain murdered her child.

However, this movie was made in 1983, while Lindy Chamberlain was still in jail. It is a very early take on the events and it is dangerous to rely on this movie alone for the facts of the case.

I encourage you to watch this out of interest rather than to gain knowledge or draw an opinion from. There are 2 far better movies to see on this case and they are : "A Cry In The Dark" and "Through My Eyes". Both these far better!

À ma soeur!
(2001)

total disappointment
Hi all, I loved Romance, and thought something of such quality and depth should never have been banned from my country (lucky it was re-rated!). I saw For My Sister shortly after, in total anticipation and of the expectation that it would be just as fantastic as Romance. It was real and presented some very valid points, but I was disappointed in the quality of not only the acting, but the lack of chemistry between the actors the way it just fizzled towards the end. Sexual curiosity is a valid thing to explore, but the way it was presented was over-tragic and melodramatic. I will still continue to search out Catherine Brelliat's work, and hope to see Anatomy of Hell soon!
