Harlan Coben's Shelter
(2023)

Did I Read The Same Book??
As some others have said, there were drastic changes from the book adaption and they weren't good changes! The book doesn't even have an Aunt Shira so that threw me off immediately. Then there's a whole separate storyline of her becoming a lesbian? I guess they felt they needed to diversify the characters, but it felt really unnecessary to me and didn't add anything of value to the story. On a positive note some of the episodes were very suspenseful and there were some good twists. Another thing mentioned by other reviewers was the foul language. The cursing was really excessive which surprises me because it was supposed to be targeting young teens so I thought it would be a bit more family friendly. I have enjoyed the adaptation of other Coben books, but this one was overall a big disappointment. Read or listen to the book instead! Not sure if there's going to be a season two, but if there is, I hope they clean it up! So much potential from the book for the screen adaptation to be good. Such a waste.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window
(2022)

Too Dramatic To Be A Good Parody, Yet Not A Good Drama Either
I get that this was supposed to be a spoof on mystery/thriller movies, but it just fell flat for me. It had a few funny moments, but wasn't nearly funny enough. It was too ridiculous to be considered a good drama though so I'm just really not sure what they were going for? There were some really unexpected dark and depressing moments. I would normally give something like this a 4 or a 5, but I love Kristen Bell and she's really talented so I gave it a 6. She's definitely too talented for something like this though.

Love the actresses, but definitely do NOT love the show
I really wanted to like this because I do love all three of the main actresses, but this is just not good. The women all act like clueless and unlikeable idiots. I get that they're supposed to be "in crisis", but much of the episode plots just seem so over the top and unrealistic. Eliza Coupe's character in particular is just bizarre. She somehow has two kids and doesn't know how to be a mother. She works part-time and never sees her kids, but she frequently has time to hang out in a grocery store or coffee shop with her friends?? Oh and she can somehow afford a nanny despite only seeming to work part time? I feel like this show must have been written by men. It just seems so out of touch. It's a shame- all these ladies are so talented and yet I'd be extremely surprised if this gets renewed for a second season.

Trust the reviews- stop after Season 1
I wish I had made myself stop watching after Season 1! If you want to be incredibly angry and depressed, then keep watching Season 2. Otherwise, I'd give Season 1 an 8/10. Overall a 7 for the second season.

Tell Me Your Secrets
(2021)

Complex with unanswered questions, but still worth watching
The reviews on this are pretty mixed, but I thought overall that it was very good. The acting from characters Emma/Karen, John, and Mary was amazing. I felt like it took a bit too long to reveal some things and then the final episodes were rushed. There were also a lot of turns (some of which seemed unnecessary). Lots of unanswered questions, especially regarding Theresa's character.

*Spoilers* Some have talked about some plot holes with details that didn't make sense, and that's true. For example, was Pete a U. S. Marshall? If not, why didn't we see one in Emma's life? Isn't that a standard thing in witness protection? No police presence other than the one cop in town for a woman hated and feared by the public? There should have been and they could have properly investigated Jess' murder from the start. It also didn't make sense that John's character was able to be gone so long without authorities noticing? Didn't he have a parole officer he would have had to check in with regularly? What was the point of the plot with the girls at St Jerome's? Was Bodie making money off their eggs? And what about the girls on drugs at the hotel room? What was up with that?

Despite the questions, I was hooked. Hoping there will be a second season!

The Sinner
(2017)

Third Season Not As Bad As Other Reviewers Say
I agree with most that the first season was the best season. Filled with lots of suspense and twists. Lots of reviews have trashed the third season, but I didn't think it was bad. To me- the second and third season were equally good. They just weren't as good as the first season. All actors in all three seasons are amazing. You get a very different view of Detective Ambrose from the first season to the third. I hope this series continues.
