Mistrz
(2020)

When having one polished skill can help you survive
This is a tale of how a skill can make one's miserable enslaved existence more beneficial for the self and others. The skill saves some innocent and destroys some too; but no matter how hard the predicament might seem, there is always something to fight for. Dramatic near-death and comeback resurrection are truly inspiring.

Fear Street: 1994
(2021)

shallow
As shallow as American values. In this new age we need more than bright colours of the setting. Very poor.

Troe
(2020)

A worthwhile watch
Midlife crisis from Khabensky has delivered - the story is gripping and smoothly realistic. The main character is a tragicomic and the picture hinges on a constant dynamic play between drama and humour.

American Buffalo
(1996)

Chekhovian monotonous rambling
American Buffalo is a theatrical picture taking place in a crammed old shop. It is monotonously Chekhovian: there is no A to B movement but rather a monotonous rambling with a glister of hope that the characters are trying to embrace. In the centre of action, there is a kid on whose vagueness and proneness the sole hope of two grown-up men hinges. Meditating and self-reflective watch.

Sputnik
(2020)

Clichéd nostalgic take on sci-fi that failed
An immensely poor effort at a sci-fi film (odd one out example of the genre in Russian cinematography) overlaid with clichés and hollow scenes aiming to dwell on the nostalgic atmosphere that has been continuously used in the past decade.

Booksmart
(2019)

Appalling, dysfunctional and pointless.
Unimaginative, dysfunctional and bo-oring. One of those movies that one should avoid!

Earthlings
(2005)

"As long as there are slaughterhouses there will be battlefields."
"As long as there are slaughterhouses there will be battlefields."

A particularly vivid and explicit illustration of speciesism that illustrates and makes us aware. Though some bits are almost undertones of an urgency to not eat any meat, overall, it is a nice bit for rational thought.

The Ivory Game
(2016)

An absolutely terrifying manmade crisis
The documentary explores operations of poachers in Africa and further trafficking of illegal ivory to Asia where it is sold to local wholesalers who subsequently can deliver it to your doorstep a 'nominal' fee. The undercover footage gives the documentary great validity and evidential basis. Must be watched - thought-provoking and horrifyingly real.

Easy
(2017)

Absurd but Funny and Easy
A chubby admirable Italian in the most desperate Eastern European country with a dead body in a coffin looking for his car and talking to Chinese girls that speak native-level Ukrainian (?) and the polite police officers - absurd but funny, an EASY pleasant watch. Plus, constant reminiscence of the country that has been been gone for a while but has seen no change adds drama for those viewers who can relate to this layer of the picture.

Nuovo Cinema Paradiso
(1988)

An Undeniable Masterpiece
Unequivocally compelling - that one has it all - inspiring, dramatic, honest, funny and romantic. The setting, characters, music and plotline create a cosy little world that keeps you immersed and evokes profoundly positive emotions. An undeniable masterpiece in cinematic history - commendable and exemplary. Suitable and essential for every movie-lover who has a heart and soul.
