Vampire Senzo
(1990)

Very Interesting But Very Fast Paced
SYNOPSIS: A CIA base in America is attacked by "vampires" which triggers a chain of events leading to our main character being mixed up in the battle between French & American agents to gain possession of a girl whose blood contains the answers to questions and solutions to problems. Intervening in the war is a vampire with his own agenda. Fighting off CIA agents, French agents, and a vampire, our hero is out to save the girl and possibly even the world.

I had this sitting in my queue of movies to watch and when it finally popped out at me to try it, I was hopeful of how it could turn out. A few minutes into the movie (I call it a movie but at a little under an hour, its really more like one episode of a TV show), I felt very confused. The story was moving along at seemingly breakneck pace for the first half of the movie and then finally the plot seemed to click into place. By the time it was over, I really wanted to see more of the story and was very disappointed by the quick and predictable ending.

"Vampire Wars" is an intriguing blend of action, horror, sci-fi, and drama that really leaves you wanting something more to come of the story. It really feels like once you become interested in a scene/plot line/character, things jump ahead. At one point in time, they even jump ahead in the story five days without so much as a wipe, text on the screen, or anything besides the character saying "I waited for 5 days when..."

SUMMARY: Interesting blend of several genres that really deserves more time to tell the tale. It'll leave you disappointed there's nothing more because its over before it really gets going.

6/10. Very cool and promising for something more, but too short to really show what it could be.

Unaccompanied Minors
(2006)

Give It A Chance, You Might Smile
Plot Summary: Due to a weather storm, an airport gets shut down on Christmas Eve/Christmas, stranding everyone there. All the kids get tossed into a room when our main character kids decide to bust out, leaving trouble in their wake. As punishment, they're isolated yet manage to escape several times in an attempt to bring Christmas to others, among other things.

Review: The acting is a bit lacking at points, and its full of clichés and overused schticks, but it still turned out alright. Quite honestly, I was bored out of my mind the first 15-20 minutes, which felt like half the movie should have been over already. But it really turned around past that. Its got a lot of slapstick comedy and should be enjoyable for the family, providing laughs and a pretty feel-good ending.

Overall: OK, so this movie's not gonna win any awards. But I didn't see why it's rated so low here. Maybe once the DVD hits shelves, people will realize its not all that bad of a movie. No one was expecting the "Citizen Kane" of kids movies here, so if you just want to see some funny stuff and have some laughs, you might actually be satisfied with the movie "Unaccompanied Minors."

The Marine
(2006)

Action Lovers Rejoice
"The Marine" with John Cena is as pure of an Action movie as you can get. As a long-standing WWE fan, this was a must see for me. John Cena, an ex-Marine, has a long deserved vacation with his wife go horribly wrong. Crossing paths with a group of crazed thieves & murderers, he goes on an action-packed chase to catch them and rescue his wife.

The movie isn't going to be a classic & doesn't claim to be 100% accurate in military protocol and realism, but Cena and the rest of the cast do a pretty good job of entertaining us. Robert Patrick does an excellent job of playing the lead villain, and their supporting cast isn't horrible either. The movie had tons of bullets whizzing, stuff exploding, and bodies flying with some humor thrown in when you least expect it. If you're an Action junkie, you'll enjoy this movie.

Bottom Line: If you go watch this movie just expecting to be entertained, you should like it. Its not going to win any awards, but its still a good & enjoyable movie.

Mean Guns
(1997)

Time for some good old fashioned redemption.
"Mean Guns" is a great movie as far as action goes. Christopher Lambert and Ice-T are really the only two big names in the movie. The rest of the cast is either virtually unknown or relatively unexperienced in the action movie genre.

What happens when you dump a load of guns into a roomful of killers? You get this movie. As action as action can get, the confines of an empty prison makes for the perfect setting for the mayhem and murder of the contest that will leave only a certain lucky few alive, as per rules of the contest. Kill or be killed, the movie follows around a handful of central characters as they attempt to make it through alive.

The soundtrack, the majority of which is Perez Prado, makes for the perfect background for the beautiful symphony of destruction and death throughout the movie. The acting leaves a bit to be desired. Some of the characters give very wooden and monotone performances (specifically that of "D" and "Cam"), but most of it is pretty decent. The action is on the more realistic side of the spectrum, going against many modern action movies in which the bad guys fly back 10 feet when they're shot with a small-caliber pistol. The deaths are fairly realistic; you don't get everyone being shot 14 times and then giving a long speech before finally doing a 540-backflip off a roof to their death.

As far as action movies go, this is a good one. Don't expect any academy award winning acting, but its definitely an enjoyable movie.

7/10
