Severance
(2022)

It's Incredible...
The last time I felt so in love with a show like this where I was quite literally on the edge of my seat and talking to myself (ironic for sure) out loud whilst watching was Mr. Robot. Funny enough, they're similar in the sense of the main protagonist living some sort of parallel double life. But my god, is this show good.

Who knew Ben Stiller had this in him?! He directed 6 episodes and said it was the longest project he's worked on, (5 years). I mean I thoroughly enjoyed the Secret Life of Walter Mitty even though the critics and the ratings may say otherwise, but this is definitely refreshing and immersive. The cast is amazing; all of them are so great but I've never seen Adam Scott so real and so emotionally invested before. The set designers and the cinematographers need all of the praise imaginable. I seriously cannot get enough and cannot wait for a second season. Just, wow.

Bo Burnham: Inside
(2021)

Genuinely Speechless
I've never felt more immersed in what's supposed to be a comedy special. I didn't touch my phone the entire time, I was totally fixated on it. I love how it was streamlined but yet it was choppy at the same time? It felt very, very real. To be stuck with Bo in that little room and watch his sanity seem to dissipate was extremely relatable to everyone in quarantine the past year. And I appreciate that he never holds back with his lyrics, he tells it like it is. Also, the cinematography was incredible? I almost couldn't believe he did the whole thing all by himself. I would watch it again just to enjoy the lighting, focus, framing, and colors of the shots. Then again to solely focus on the lyrics. And again to solely focus on his sanity. You've outdone yourself again, Bo. Thank you.

It
(2017)

Easily a classic!
Everyone else's reviews seem pretty irrelevant to me. Everyone's a critic and impressions are subjective, so you have to watch it for yourself to create your own opinion. If you have one review where somebody claims the movie wasn't enough like the book, and then another review where somebody states the movie was too "perversive" for the audience it's "aimed towards" (which actually doesn't make sense considering the movie is rated R so you have to be at least 17 to even get into the theater) then you have two totally different perspectives because clearly the person who left the second review has also never read the book. If you look at the movie as it's own entity; it's great. It doesn't have to be "scary" to be a good horror movie. Is everyone forgetting about the Scream franchise entirely? The actors were amazing; really an awesome cast, and the teamwork is extremely admirable. i LOVE this movie!!

Fahrenheit 451
(2018)

Extremely Disappointed...
Not only is Ray Bradbury one of my favorite authors, but this novel is my all time favorite book. I own the graphic novel, I have multiple copies, I even have a tattoo...so with that being said I was clearly setting myself up for failure. I shouldn't have held my hopes up so high but the cast was really really great, I just wish they had maybe stuck by the story line at least a LITTLE. There were maybe two brief scenes or comments from the book that were in this movie, the rest was a totally new story line. The only concept that was the same is Montag still gets caught with the books. That's pretty much it. If you didn't read the book, you may actually like this interpretation, but I can't make any promises :(
