Transatlantic
(2023)

Pleasantly Surprised
I stumbled upon Transatlantic out of curiosity, not knowing what to expect. However, to my delight, it turned out to be a true gem. The exceptional acting, well-crafted plot, and engaging script kept me captivated throughout the entire movie. What truly sets this film apart is its artistic value, evident in every scene, from the stunning cinematography to the exquisite ending credits.

As a war movie enthusiast, I was particularly intrigued by the historical context and story of the French resistance during World War II, which I realized I wasn't familiar with. The film showcased this movement in a stylish and compelling way, which was a refreshing departure from the usual war movie tropes. The addition of the artistic flair and the charming seaside of Marseille added an extra layer of visual appeal and made for a cinematic dream.

Overall, the film exceeded my expectations and left me with a newfound appreciation for the French resistance and the beauty of Marseille. I am grateful to have discovered this hidden gem.

Busanhaeng

2 hours of boredom
As a zombie movies fan, I have watched a lot of them. I can compare this one to one particular - I Legend. I Legend was a terrible movie though I admire the book. This one is terrible AND long, which makes it even worse!

If you are a zombie fan, I guess you have to watch it. But you will not enjoy it. The only interesting part is definition of zombies as blind creatures in the dark. Kudos for that. Otherwise, one big disappointment.

If you are looking for train action without zombies, try Snowpiercer. At least you will not get bored so easily.

Crimson Peak
(2015)

Great old school horror.
Great story for all Poe-like horror lovers. A movie, that is based on tension rather than on modern effects. Beautiful Gothic atmosphere and color symbolism. If you enjoy old horror stories from the turn of the twentieth century, this is perfect for you.

Del Toro chose his actors carefully. Acting is great, as well as costumes and sets. The key to understand this movie is to get to know the roots of modern horror. Do not compare it with modern movies. Compare it with classic horror books.

It was great to find a modern tribute to classic horror stories and authors. If you know what to expect, it will definitely not disappoint you.
