Manjummel Boys
(2024)

The boys from Manjummel
Manjummel Boys is not just a movie; it's an emotional rollercoaster that leaves you breathless, heartbroken, and ultimately hopeful. Director Chidambaram weaves a powerful tale based on a true story, showcasing the unbreakable bond of friendship and the unwavering human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity.

The film starts by introducing us to a group of carefree friends from Manjummel. We see their camaraderie and playful banter, establishing a sense of normalcy that makes the tragedy that unfolds even more impactful. The transition from lighthearted moments to the chilling incident at the Guna caves is masterfully executed, leaving you glued to the screen.

Soubin Shahir delivers a career-defining performance as Kuttan, the friend who risks everything to save Subhash (played by the equally brilliant Sreenath Bhasi). Their on-screen chemistry is palpable, making you believe in their deep affection for each other. The supporting cast is equally impressive, adding layers of humor and emotional depth to the narrative.

A Survival Story that Grips You: The descent into the cave is filmed with a sense of claustrophobia and dread. The desperation of the trapped friends, the dwindling oxygen supply, and the constant fear of the unknown create a visceral viewing experience. The rescue attempt is a masterclass in suspense, leaving you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

At its core, "Manjummel Boys" is a testament to the power of friendship. It shows how ordinary people can rise above their limitations and perform extraordinary acts of courage when driven by love and loyalty. The film doesn't shy away from portraying moments of despair, but ultimately celebrates the unwavering bond between these friends that sees them through this ordeal.

The decision to base the story on a real event adds a layer of poignancy to the narrative. Knowing that this tragedy actually happened makes the film's emotional impact even stronger. "Manjummel Boys" serves not just as entertainment but also as a reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the importance of cherishing loved ones.

While the film is flawless in most aspects, some viewers might find the initial portrayal of the friends as irresponsible to be a slight drawback. However, this characterization strengthens the contrast between their usual behavior and their heroic actions later, highlighting their growth and selflessness.

"Manjummel Boys" is a film that will stay with you long after the credits roll. It's a powerful story about friendship, courage, and the will to survive. With its exceptional performances, gripping narrative, and emotional depth, this film deserves all the accolades and a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.

Varshangalkku Shesham
(2024)

The nostalgia Lanes of Madras
"Varshangalku Shesham" takes us on a charming journey through the world of aspiring filmmakers in the Madras (now Chennai) of the 1980s and 90s. The film's technical aspects are a real treat - the music is a delightful blend of nostalgia and contemporary sounds, perfectly capturing the era. The visuals are equally impressive, transporting viewers back in time with their evocative settings and costumes.

The performances by Dhyan Sreenivasan, Nivin Pauly, and Basil Joseph are the true highlights, and they bring their characters to life with humor and warmth. Kalyani Priyadarshan and Neeta Pillai, while not having extensive roles, deliver solid performances in the supporting cast.

However, the film falters slightly when it comes to Pranav Mohanlal's portrayal. While he shows potential, there are moments where his acting could be more nuanced.

Despite these shortcomings, "Varshangalku Shesham" is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The story of friendship, ambition, and the magic of cinema is heartwarming and relatable. With its strong technical aspects and stellar performances , this film is a delightful watch for anyone looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane of film making in the 80s and at present.

Kung Fu Panda 4
(2024)

Not as charming as before
Po's back for another round of noodle-fueled kung fu in "Kung Fu Panda 4." While the film delivers the series' signature blend of action and humor, it struggles to break new ground.

Fans of the previous movies will find a comforting dose of familiarity. Po's clumsiness haven't faded. The animation remains impressive, with vibrant colors and fluid fight sequences.

However, the plot feels recycled. A new villain with world-domination plans? Been there, seen that (multiple times) from Tai Lung to Kai. The emotional core, Po grappling with his newfound role as spiritual leader, could have been more impactful.

Ultimately, "Kung Fu Panda 4" is a harmless, albeit predictable, addition to the franchise. It might not surprise you, but it might provide a mild dose of nostalgia and some chuckles along the way. If you're looking for something fresh, this might not be your Dragon Warrior's journey.

Madame Web
(2024)

Not a total disaster
While "Madame Web" won't be winning any awards, it's not the cinematic disaster some reviews might have you believe. Dakota Johnson brings a certain charm to Cassie Webb, and the film's exploration of precognition is a unique twist on the superhero origin story.

The fun unravels a bit during the climax. It feels rushed and underwhelming, failing to deliver the punch a superhero film needs. The action sequences throughout are decent but forgettable.

However, to dismiss the entire movie based on the ending feels harsh. The concept is interesting, and Johnson's performance is engaging.

Is it a groundbreaking superhero movie? No. But as a person who is font for super hero movies, for a casual watch with a moderately intriguing premise, "Madame Web" isn't a total waste of time. Just don't get your hopes up for an epic finale.

Argylle
(2024)

Not up to the mark
The plot is tangled mess - confusing spy stuff with twists that feel unoriginal. Action scenes have Vaughn's signature flair, but the story is all over the place and pacing is slow. Jokes try to be funny, but end up goofy or mean.

Some performances shine. Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell give their all, even with shallow characters. The visuals are undeniably cool, with a vibrant 1960s vibe.

Still, style can't save a weak script. Argylle feels like a wasted chance to be as good as Vaughn's other films. Action-comedy fans can find better options. This one's only for hardcore Vaughn fans, and even then, be prepared to be patient.

Animal
(2023)

Male toxic/chauvinistic/Alpha
The most obvious toxic mentality of a so called Panjabi alpha male, or should I call it the most male chauvinist charector ever seen. Connecting with film greatly depend upon the charectors and their arc over the period of the film. Here we can see the most unrealistic scenarios where you can write a scene in the most male toxic/chauvinistic way possible.

I couldn't be able to connect, possibly I'm not an alpha male. But really doubt such alpha males exist or not. Most charectors other than Ranvijay Singh and balbir singh, doesn't have a proper role. The role of Gayathri and Zoya have good screen time, just for the sake of having female characters in the movie Other than the script and charectors of the movie, it's a gem when it comes to the technicalities of the film. Music, visuals, art every department worked on it in an amazing way, but that isn't a reason to watch the film.

Scoop
(2024)

Could have been worth
There are instances where makes us feel like the deeds of the royal family is being glorified. Performance wise, everyone came in mediocre. But the screenplay seems to be a better one. Id recommend this one only if you are keen to know about the PRO works of the royal family, how paparazzis work and how much interest is shown by the press to bring down someone from the royal family. Not saying everyone in there is a saint. But there are better things to do than bringing someone there down.

It's not a technical brilliance though, we can watch it would out any comparison. Mediocrity is seen at most of the places.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
(2024)

Not really big, but worth a watch
Stuns visually with epic landscapes & well-done bending effects. Score soars, but some miss the original's playful charm. But some critics have noted a lack of the original series' playful charm in the music. Sound design fares better, with immersive effects that pull you into the world. Pacing feels rushed, and some acting is uneven (check other reviews!). Still, a promising start for this new adaptation.

If you're a die-hard Avatar fan, this might not be the definitive reimagining you were hoping for. However, for those looking for a visually stunning adventure with a familiar story, it's a solid offering. Just be prepared for a slightly different take and manage your expectations.

Batwoman
(2019)

Was really good till season 2
The worst series after season 1. Untill the first season end it was interesting.

From season 2, Amazingly bad acting, Sorry @JaviciaLeslie, you became the worst batwoman.

Bad story. 60s70s period dialoges, the flash and arrow got better stories than this. Was really missing @RubyRose throughout. She did an amazing job in season 1. She was the perfect cast for batwoman.
