American Nightmare
(2024)

A must watch
If you're a regular person who thinks if something bad happened to you that the police would help you...this documentary will change that for you. This is a horrible story and, unfortunately, it has probably happened to others. We just will never hear those stories. For those that wondered about this case but never heard what really happened you will want to see this. There has been multiple reports and articles about the Vallejo Police Department but confirmation bias is pervasive everywhere. There were many moments that I was so angry I had to walk out of the room. If you think you don't need a lawyer you are wrong even if you're reporting a crime committed against you.

This is a must watch.

Sue Perkins: Perfectly Legal
(2022)

This is the darkly comic travel show I've been waiting for
First Sue Perkins is hilarious.

And deciding to adventure in some really risky scenarios that really could result in bodily harm is pretty brave for anyone.

Travel explorers will appreciate the off the path locations and experiences in this show.

And if you're easily offended or squeamish might not be for you.

While there are some subjects that I would have rather not ever known about, the locations and different events (like Ultimate Lucha Libre) were things that I'd not seen and enjoyed learning about through Sue's witty and quintessentially English lens.

No Anthony Bourdain quips here, something new and decidedly different.

High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America
(2021)

A spectacular glimpse of history and food
Ignore the poor reviews on this and enjoy this brief series on the roots and culture of African American cuisine. The host serves as both guide and culinary tourist. A great documentary series leaves me feeling that I had an inside look of something personal and profound and wanting to know more.

The Parish
(2019)

Just the right amount of horror
Nice little Indy horror not too much blood and definitely enough mystery to keep me curious. It definitely has all the elements scary nuns, mysterious happenings and helpful priests. If you want the scare without the stress inducing nerves this is definitely worth a watch.
