I understand the appeal behind this film, but unfortunately Vince Vaughn, despite his Italian ancestry, doesn't really give off a very Italian impression from him, after all we couldn't expect much from his acting. So the ladies end up stealing the thunder and they are pretty good in what they are doing.
Now let me quickly address the title of this review, either Vince compiled or was given a checklist of things to make him sound more "Italoamerican". Even if those aren't necessarily wrong, but they seem too stereotyped or too repetitive, like how he often is saying "I am sorry" to other people's misfortunes. I am not saying the character shouldn't worry about his people, his community, but it feels fake.
Besides the whole food motif behind this film, we have a lot of stories, a lot of grief, a lot of regret, but even if interesting, it is poorly structured in the story of the film. It is almost looking like a jigsaw of stories, still it is fun if you look over that, too bad though because it could have been a way better film if they had a different actor playing the protagonist.
