The Fall Guy
(2024)

It has something for everyone
Romcom, action, crime ... this movie has it all. You can tell this movie was made to pay the due respect to all stunt industry persons and I loved that about it. As someone who fears heights or falling down, Stunt people are like Gods to me.

Ryan Gosling does what he does best, acts the ever living *** out of each scene. Emily Blunt's comedic side shines. Duke Wilson is always fun to see on-screen and Aaron Taylor Johnson pulled out the perfect A list actor stereotype we all think must be true. Oh, Hannah Waddingham did great in her role, but I hope never to see her as a brunette again!

Ryan plays comedy so well, The Nice Guys proved this to us but if you have followed him since Crazy, Stupid Love ... you know he can really hold his own as a comedic actor.

I can't wait to see this movie on streaming so I can pause and catch all the parts in a few scenes. I honestly just can't wait to watch it again ... absolutely the most fun I've had in a movie for a long, long time. Also, if you're Gen X ... this movie's soundtrack will hit all your pleasure centers.

The Bubble
(2022)

For what it is ... it's pretty damn funny
This isn't a cinematic masterpiece by any means. This isn't even one of Judd's best BUT it's still a good time. You can also tell the actors had a really good time making it. I laughed out loud quite a bit! It's stupid humor. I went into it with absolutely zero expectations and happy I did.

People are taking things way too seriously by giving this movie such harsh reviews. The end scene tells you all you need to know.

Make yourself a drink, smoke a blunt or whatever you want to do and just enjoy yourself and the silliness that is this movie. I know the actors did.

The Thing About Pam
(2022)

I think some people are missing the point
Pam Hupp could be anyone from anywhere.

In this Dateline'esque style show about a terrible true crime, it examines the horrible woman at the center of it, Pam Hupp. What it also does is expose the other people who need exposing ... the inept investigators and prosecutor. Talk about misconduct! Wow!

The retelling brings to light how tragically Betsy's children lives were shattered not just by Pam but by all those who were involved from the start. Betsy's husband, Russell, was another victim to Pam. And he wasn't the last.

Understanding how wrong a case can go from the very start can hopefully help someone else from having the same thing happen to them ... because Pam Hupps exist, whether it be LA, California or a small town in Missouri. And while this is entertaining and may feel like it makes light of Betsy's murder, it very much takes the truth and justice of it quite seriously.

Having seen videos of the real Pam Hupp, I have to give it up to Renee on capturing her accent and mannerisms. The supporting cast does a wonderful job, too!

Deep Water
(2022)

If you like erotic thrillers, this is your movie
It's been awhile since I've watched a truly good erotic thriller ... seems like no one really wants to touch the genre much in the last decade.

Affleck does a great job of making you question motive the whole way, is he some cuckhold husband who just wants to keep his wife or is something else going on ... reminds me of how he played his character in Gone Girl.

De Armas and Affleck's chemistry is palpable when the story needs it to be, making their scenes really sizzle.

If you're a fan of this genre, you won't be disappointed with addition.

Dexter: New Blood
(2021)

Slower pace but so worth it!
Yes there are still 4 episodes left to the season and I trust that they have learned from the past to not completely derail the final episode like they did the original series.

In the original, there was more killings because he pretty much had a new victim each week. This isn't the same formula as before. This is exploring new territory to the character and the writers and actors are absolutely killing it!

The inclusion of Dexter's sister is so good because what/who is Dexter without Debra?

I truly hope they can find a way to keep the he series going beyond just this single season of the reboot because there is so much potential to keep telling the stories of Dexter and his son.

True Story
(2021)

The acting here is everything
I was able to piece the story together pretty quickly but oddly it didn't take away from a single bit of my enjoyment. Kevin really elevated his acting chops in this series. Billy Zane's contribution shouldn't be overlooked by any means.

This took me by surprise, I heard nothing of it coming and it deserves some hype.

Plan on bingeing it all in one sitting. You want to see how it plays out.

A Castle for Christmas
(2021)

It's a Cheesy Christmas movie, don't forget
On a scale of Christmas movies ... it's pretty good. It isn't the best Christmas movie I have seen but it is sweet and enjoyable. The Scotland backdrop makes it even more fun to watch. Brooke and Cary play well off each other.

Low ratings are by those who likely do not like this very specific genre, you can't expect too much from these films and if you don't ... you will have a good time.

Black Widow
(2021)

Yep, 10 out of 10 for what I judged
Pugh was amazing in this and her and Johanson worked so well together, chemistry was so natural between the two. I only wish there could be more of them in the future.

Black Widow has deserved her own movie for a long time and they have done her justice here. The action was fun and bad ass to watch.

If you're a fan of the MCU, you will love this addition.

Coming 2 America
(2021)

The nostalgia IS the sequel
To start, talent of black actors here is tops! The casting agency really showed up for this movie. There also was not a stone left unturned on the nostalgia walk during this movie.

CGI wasn't End Game level but not much is ... this was for the fans and I loved it. I didn't walk in expecting to see an academy worthy film, this was made for the fans and for the cast and crew of the original.

The costume design though. Wow! That should receive a nomination come award season next year. Everything, every single outfit was worth pausing to take note of. The hair was also perfection, a new style for every scene. Gorgeous!

I gave it a high rating because I rated based on how this movie made me feel and it hit every nostalgia bone in my body. Not to mention the talent of the new young talent was refreshing. These are faces we need to get used to seeing!

Enola Holmes
(2020)

A fun movie with a great cast
If they do not make a follow up movie with Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes and his sister on a new case, I will be madly disappointed.

Enola and Sherlock have wonderful chemistry as brother and sister; they definitely deserved more screen time together.

Enola is a strong character with an amazing mother. Even though this is set hundreds of years ago, Enola is an ageless character worthy of any young woman's attention.

Medical Police
(2020)

Naked Gun humor
Completely stupid humor and I love it. It's mindless and that's sometimes the best type of show to watch.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
(2019)

Pinkman's farewell
It was a beautiful way to send off Pinkman that we didn't get in the original show. Aaron Paul did an amazing job at being a tortured Pinkman, a man desperate to leave his past in the past.
