Sheriff: Narko Integriti
(2024)

Is almost at par as the best ones (Internationals) ive seen
I had 0 expectation going in as - i had no clue about the movie existing & never watched any trailers - i was pleasantly surprised at how far our local films' quality have become. There was pretty "meh" casting (i thought they were casted because of popularity instead of quality) but whatever, just watching sub-par acting is a bit distracting for me. Cinematography-wise overall great, there were some random shots and out of place imo.

-About the actual film- It was great at how its not entirely clichéd. It kept some of the surprising elements up until the very end for me, which IS a big deal because as far as malay films go .. is a rarity. I can tell they put a lot of actual thoughts into the storyline, which i can definitely appreciate. In fact for whatever reason it sorta reminds me of a little bit of Cumberbatch's version of Sherlock + Guy Ritchie-ish.

Sometimes i also feel like they try to fit in everything into 1 darn film, its giving *too many chefs in the kitchen*. So it ended up as "ok whats the point of that, totally unnecessary". Somehow it also makes me feel it was rushed and all over the place.

-About the casting- Ngl there were a lot of "stars" in the film to the point of like they're competing for the lime light. At one point i thought Syafiq was the lead but the title is Sheriff but this other person has more screen time. Buts and buts. I see what theyre doing towards the end you (theyd definitely franchising the heck out of this and i hope theyd get better instead of only chasing the fame and $) BUT ANYWAY - i like the Sheriff character (its a love-hate situation) the way Zul brings it to life, yesss. I feel like he mightve improv-ed the dialogues maybe? He just looks natural and not forcing it too much to the point of blergh shut up. The girls~ uh sorry but it couldve just been anyone. Syafiq was ok but his face is too flawless the entire time i was thinking -mannn thats A LOT of makeup- so i was somewhat distracted hahaha. Aaron is just being aaron oh well. But oh i also appreciate they brought in some veteran actors imo as a gesture of respect idk.

No One Gets Out Alive
(2021)

Unexpectedly ok
I dont know any of the actors therefore I didn't expect anything much from what seems to be a low-budget slasher film lol. But I was quite surprised that this is actually pretty good in terms of cinematography, acting, storyline 👏🏻

The Batman
(2022)

Ok
Can't unsee Edward. Idk.. I'm not feeling it having him as batman lol. Kinda stiff, kinda looks the same (expression) all throughout. Overall ok.. tbh it kinda bores me by the 2nd hour.

After We Collided
(2020)

Huh?
Didn't know there was a part 1 or whatever. Now it's been 20 mins and I'm just so confused by everything.

365 dni
(2020)

I mean 5 stars bcos Michele is hot 🔥
I keep seeing this on recommended so - it's the ultimate cliches of all cliches but I'm giving it 5 entirely because Massimo is hotss. Either the book or the movie could've at least tried making a decent storyline but we all know that's not the focal point at all lol.

The Serpent
(2021)

Lol idk why are y'all so pressed
It's a show it's not documentary stop expecting 100% accuracy. Lol some of the review just makes me laugh. How can they possibly knew what happened and the actual dialog word-by-word? That's why Netflix did the lil disclaimer there. I on the other hand thought the show is quite entertaining, slow at times sure, but even when we already know what happened to those people I still feel the suspense.

The Skulls
(2000)

Here to watch Joshua lol
So.. 5 pts for Joshua. The rest of it well, gotta admit towards the end there i kinda had to force myself to finish tbh. A duel?? Really? Geesh.

Dawson's Creek
(1998)

Not the ending for me
Pacey and Andie deserves better than this. I don't understand why they had to destroy her character like that, they might as well just killed her off. All of these just because they want this love triangle crap to happen, that quite frankly, I don't have the slightest care at all.

Don't Read This on a Plane
(2020)

I see what you did there
If you think that this'll be some uplifting travel story well.. you're wrong. I get it though, it's a reality check. Nobody can afford to dream :)

The Boys
(2019)

Few questionable moments
It is overall good I enjoy it - also on the verge of coming off as trying too hard to be cool. Hughie is so damn annoying even more than his name I wish he dies already (I just started watching S2 for context). Something if off with Annie's maybe acting or smtg i just can't pinpoint what, Homelander is amazing lol - I mean I guess I started watching because of the memes and expecting a superhero show with superhero doing stuff but this is just too much talking and drama, literally can't even figure out what starlight's actual power is, light? laser light? Electric? 😂 what's up with black noir? And what does he even do but maybe that's just me

Someone Like You...
(2001)

Whats with the ending
First of all, how hot was the young Hugh? Daymm. Well anyway everything was fine and charming up until the end like, why tf did he just bails in the middle of work?! Doesn't make any sense, where the hell is he going? So dramatic rofl

Belok Kanan Barcelona
(2018)

Everything in one
Overall i enjoyed it very much. The classic high school friends story yadda yadda but so much more! Pleasantly surprised on how they incorporated race and religion bit in there but i thought it was a nice touch - nothing overly offensive or trying too hard to be 'right'.

Also i especially appreciate the soundtracks and travelogues. Love, laugh and feels ❤

Tall Girl
(2019)

Cringeeeeee
Sorry i cant even get thru till the end. Story feels straight up written from the 80s complete with all cringeyness except shes tall. Which probably doesnt affect anything if they exclude that factor even. A timid girl with outspoken best friend + hot mean girl + handsome boy bla bla boring.

Someone Great
(2019)

Simple and easy chick flick
It was okay, simple and easy. Nothing to immediately tell other people about yknow? Probably forgetting the storyline in the next few weeks but for what it is - i liked how relatable the heartbreak was, wish i have girlfriends like them to go through quarterlife crisis together. :)

Myûjiamu
(2016)

Needs better plot lines
Hmm... hear me out here. While it might not make total sense hollywood-wise, it kinda does in a way that its a Japanese movie. Ive seen far more implausible storyline and this one kinda make sense. Do you know what i mean? Lol.

But lets talk about what i find somewhat annoying;

1. All these shouting man. I know it's probably because of culture differences that i might not get how they'd react . But lord pls stop shouting and get things done! Thats so overdramatic.

2. OF ALL THE THINGS IN THE WORLD - Frog mask??? How can audiences take you seriously

3. The plot can be a lot tighter. Instead they focused more on the special effects, which is nice but makes me think that the police are totally useless.

4. Started off well and then goes downhill for me starting from the point he realises that his wife is missing. Then i felt like it was dragged on and on and on.....

what i like; 1. Oguri Shun. Hahaha not my most favourite acting from him but probably the character IS needed to be annoying, loud, clumsy, and teeny bit dumb lmao

2. I like the goriness. Some twist here and there i wouldn't say the movie was boring at all

Terra Formars
(2016)

So bad that its sort of good
When u think Japanese stories wouldnt get any weirder but u are just so wrong everytime. Any point of the movie u just sorta keep asking why youre still watching this but ... i honestly dont know and dont have an answer to that.

Why would people wanna imagine this sort of a thing? Is even more baffling question. Im confused

Forrest Gump
(1994)

Always A Classic
Over the years I keep coming back to this film, I've lost count how many times Ive watched it by now. As you grow old you understand a little bit more, it's such a weird experience. But also in any one of those experiences you'll always end up with the same warm feelings in your heart :)

Now Jenny however, what a user. I hope someday I'm gonna watch this again and understand why she did the things she did but hell - until now I still cant say that I like her. Forrest deserved someone better and not just somebody that'll come when she's in trouble or dying.

Yi wen ding qing
(2019)

Perfect Valentine's
Why wouldn't people like this? I think it deserves a higher rating!

Darren (ZhiShu) is always dreamy ofc but I'm not sure why he even had to act aggressive at times like boi what are you fighting with?? - seems a bit unnecessary XiangQin honestly mid-movie I find her quite tiresome and annoying. Too much girl stop hahaha.

Overall very cute bubbly story :)

Sensei!
(2017)

It was everything but...
I triedddd so hard to enjoy it but i cant wrap my head around it's almost paedophiliac theme hahaha. Sorry. Thinking about it just makes me cringe but i pulled through because Toma never looked so good!

Honestly though how would you even fall for someone you barely ever spoken with? I would never risk life on such a thing. smh

Bokura ga ita: Zenpen
(2012)

Closure at last!
Honestly I liked the first one better but ending was such a cliffhanger ffs. Hence I'm glad they didn't f up with the same ending. They are soo cute together and hello Ikuta Toma can just play any types of roles and kills it! Worth watching just expect some agony and pain all throughout.

Ps/ still not sure why he NEEDED to live with yamamoto. So annoying

My Ambulance
(2019)

Ending just a No
Wtf is with the ending? Just mostly sorry I wasted hours watching this but the end is ridiculous. I wished I never bothered watching at all.

Gôsuto
(2010)

Wuttt...
Ok note that I love the classics and not a fan of almost all remakes of anything. But dang it this one I try hard to cope through just because I adore the casting, the story though feels sloww and painful. Asian movies should just stay making Asian-vibe things cause this just ain't it. Feels forced almost.

Hello, Love, Goodbye
(2019)

Unexpectedly Real!
Oh they went deeeeeppp.

This isnt just one of those sappy romance stories, no, it covers real-life topics (i assume) about Filipinos foreign workers, immigration etc. I gotta admit that i never really think twice about these things but this movie makes me feel the pain! We just gotta be grateful of choices we have in life - some people have it harder.

Now, Kathryn (Joy) is such an amazing actress! I can almost relate to everything shes going through in the movie. And oh, prepare tissues cause youre gonna need em.

P/s: Low-key Hong Kong Tourism ad done right. lol

Das schönste Mädchen der Welt
(2018)

In Love :)
OK first of all i had no idea who and what Cyrano de Bergerac is so i had no expectations at all. And i am totally in love with this movie! Just take it as what it is, a heartwarming love story - perfect for when youre just in a mood for that kind of thing ♥

Can You Keep a Secret?
(2019)

Just..No
I had hopes cause the casting looks promising enough but omg sorry cant even get through to it till the end. Just a mega cringe-fest entirely.
