The Bear: Ice Chips
(2024)
Episode 8, Season 3

She says to Donna what I want to say to my mom
I had a Donna mom. Dysfunctional but she loves me. I work in the food industry and with me a lot of people that come with a story. I also recently gave birth and it was not smooth.

This episode hit so close to home that I got restless, couldn't sit still, got a stomach ache. Jamie Lee delivers an amazing performance, and Nathalie says the words that I could never say. How she puts her mom first all the time and how unhealthy that is. How it shapes you in someone who is always alone but always there.

No, this episode was not about the kitchen. But it was about all those people in the kitchen that bring a story. This episode was needed.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
(2023)

Adjusted rating from 9 to 10
I want to have this movie in my home, right now. So I can watch it a few more times. As I watched in the cinema, I got emotional of how beautiful this movie is. Everytime Gwen's storyline came up, I got goosebumps. The backgrounds fits every character perfectly. It's freaking funny, it's good for nerds and non-nerds, there's a lot of depth and emotion in it. Various life stages are touched in this movie. From teenager to parent. From puppy love to hardcore grief.

When the movie ended the audience sighed. Nooo we want moooore. And I will wait patiently for more of this beautiful artpiece. If the third one is half as good as this one, it's still the best series in the history of film.

Spider-Man: No Way Home
(2021)

Yep. It is awesome
Again, Marvel tampered with the trailers. And again, it was for the better. Watch this movie. You won't regret it. I left the cinema wanting to watch the movie again immediatly.

How to Get Away with Murder
(2014)

A show with a proper ending
I've changed the rating of this show many times while still watching it. I was mind blown at the first season, still excited for the second one, kinda bored during 3 and 4, but 5 picked up the pace a little bit. But oh boy did this show end strong. And I mean strong. I have no more questions, all my tears were cried, I am satisfied.

Viola Davis ends up in my favorite list of actors and this show is going to be bought on disc because this show is a true iconic masterpiece. Peter Norwalk you brilliant, brilliant man.

A Knight's Tale
(2001)

I saw this movie only 20 years too late
Here I was, postponing this movie for years because I thought it would be a romantic costume drama.

But as soon as I saw Mark Addy and Alan Tudyk I thought: wait a minute... this is going to be fun! And then the we will rock you scene came (which is a brilliant way to set the mood for a movie) and I was a fan.

I loved it and craved more and every second was worth watching. Queen, Bowie, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC... next to Heath, Mark, Paul and Alan they were the main characters of this movie.

Captain Marvel
(2019)

This movie is more than it seems
What everyone else hates (Brie acting 'forced'?) is what I love (Brie standing up). This movie hit home on so many levels and I didn't even know it. It's subtle, but there. The 'you need to control your emotions' or the urge to prove something to a man because you are a woman. It felt like this movie was written for me. About me. With me in their minds.

I walked out of that theater with a feeling that I saw something special. When I got home, I watched the trailer again. The trailer shows us the line 'we need her' transforming into 'we need a hero'. She is a hero. An awkward lovable hero.

The Mitchells vs the Machines
(2021)

I adore this movie
I haven't laughed this hard about a movie for a while. If the movie was like 15 minutes shorter, it would've gotten a 10. Absolutely must see.

Songs for While I'm Away
(2020)

It's okay amigo, you can let yourself go.
Yesterday I saw this documentary in the cinema. Very special, since it was the first movie I saw in this pandemic. Also very special because the entire audience was double my age. 'All these old rockers...' mumbled a guy a few feet away, with his Thin Lizzy shirt on.

I grew up with Thin Lizzy because my parents named me after the song Rosalie. And although born in 1990 in the Netherlands, that was not the only song I knew. I discovered Thin Lizzy like it was a band releasing new songs. I bought albums as a teenager, I even somewhat followed Phil's solo career.

Having that said, I was tremendously excited to see this documentary. Phil was a big part of my life, but I didn't know much about him. Who was this guy that was always blasting through my speakers?

The documentary is very complimentary to Phil, and not without reason. He was a special man. A lot of songs passed through the docu, even songs I didn't know yet. It is a very personal movie and all the comments stay very personal. That was maybe the only thing I missed: Phil's influence on other musicians. But nevertheless, a very moving docu. It's very dreamy, just like Phil.

For me, Thin Lizzy will always have a place in my life. And this docu is a nice add to the library! Wel done.

Split
(2016)

I always look forward on watching this movie
I've seen it maybe 10 times now. I love the suspense, the acting of McAvoy, and the Unbreakable reference. I don't get it that people don't love this movie. It's fantastic.
