Contemplations: On the Psychedelic Experience
(2022)

Excellent Documentary
Austrialian produced documentary on the wonders and benefits of the psychedelic experience on those who have tried them. A psychedelic experience (known colloquially as a trip) is a temporary altered state of consciousness induced by the consumption of a psychedelic substance (most commonly LSD, mescaline, psilocybin mushrooms, or DMT). This film is recommended by anyone who wishes to expand their knowledge of these substances and to learn more about their many healing qualities. For anyone who has ever wondered about these mind altering substances this is a film well worth watching. Detailed accounts of personal experiences give insight and knowledge of these little-understood drugs.

Static Codes

Enjoyed THis Movie
Interesting drama centering around a paralyzed man's quest to find his missing wife with a unique twist of alien abduction intrigue. Many independent films such as this are often overlooked in the mainstream media because of much lower marketing dollars are not available to allocate to large advertising campaigns thus great little films like this get missed. Such is all the more reason to discover this hidden gem which features solid direction, good acting and a decent script from which to work. Writer and Director David Park delivers a solid story with good dramatic elements resulting in a satisfying film I found very enjoyable.

Great Retro Dive Into Barroom Arcades
I enjoyed this documentary! Unusual dive into a retro smoke filled barroom past of slot arcades. An inside look look into three Arcade Bars and their owners over 2 years as they try to thrive and survive through a global pandemic. This brought back great memories for me as I love the arcade games, pinball, Pacman and air hockey. This explores the human side of the arcade business, the owners and the fans, and how they adapt and change with the challenges of economic uncertainty. You will see some familiar faces in this documentary including Stormy Daniels as you'll recall from news headlines a few years back. I recommend this film highly.

Remarkable Power
(2008)

Entertaining Comedy with Kevin Nealon and Tom Arnold
Get Back Jack! (aka Remarkable Power!) starring Evan Peters, Kevin Nealon and Tom Arnold. This film was an official selection at over 40 international film festivals winning several awards, including: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Feature. Lots of great memorable songs. I ENJOYED this film not only for the camera work but for the acting and the outstanding direction. It was great to see these well known stars in a small indie film. More films like this should be given a chance to shine despite the trolls which always seem to attack small films. Well worth the watch. I loved it!

Toxic Impulses
(2022)

Worth the Watch!
Tense police thriller written and directed by Kyle Schadt. A disgraced ex-cop is enlisted to help protect a neighbor in need and ends up getting in over his head. This low budget indie is well worth the watch! I was impressed with the script and the cinematography as you will see this was shot on a low budget but todays filmmakers can make do with less and really deliver on quality without having to have millions of dollars in budget. While you won't be getting the latest Denzel Washington thriller with all the bells and whistles what you will get is a well-crafted and well made indie film that is well worth the watch.

La Inevitable Muerte del Cangrejo
(2022)

The Inevitable Death of the Crab is a good feature with lots of political intrigue
Spanish language drama about a political system plagued by corruption. As the drama unfolds the story takes unpredictable twists and turns that will keep you guessing till the very end. Very good independent movie made on a small budget. You will enjoy this film! I found the characters well developed and the camera work was quite good. Indie movies are difficult to make well on a low budget but this one came through with flying colors as I was really interested in finding out what would happen so I stuck with it till the end and am really glad I did. If you are looking for good drama with lots of twists this is an excellent choice.

It Crawls Beneath
(2022)

Very Well Done Low Budget Horror-Thriller
Everyone loves to trash low budget horror movies, but having just watched this one, for me it was a winner. The movie's story mixed a good human story with the creature element in expert fashion. It reminded me of John Carpenter's THE THING. I gave this a 10 out of 10 because I know how hard it is to make these movies on a low budget and how easy it is for a story to go off the rails. The creature effects were wonderful, the acting was quite good for its budget class - I am assuming under 1M - and the production values were decent. The writer and producer were smart enough to not take the premise too seriously and had fun with it. So I would urge you to give this movie a chance and don't listen to the trolls and the boneheaded critics. Think for yourself. If you enjoyed the drive in Roger Corman movies of the 70's and the Charles Band movies of the 80's, you'll love IT CRAWLS BENEATH.

Guilt
(2022)

It's a decent film that's not afraid to take chances. Worth a watch!
If you are looking for polished studio fare, look elsewhere. That being said, this murder/suicide mystery has supernatural elements and takes unconventional turns. It's a micro-budget production but gets the job nicely done with some satisfying performances and even a few laughs. It's a decent film that's not afraid to take chances. Worth a watch!

Maysville

Maysville - Heartwarming period piece set against the backdrop of Appalachia. Beautiful cinematography and a family story make this a great choice for all ages.

Metamorphosis
(2022)

Original Suspense Thriller-Horror well worth the watch!
Exceptionally well-crafted story with a surprise twist you won't want to miss! Expertly written and directed, this suspenser kept me guessing and on edge throughout. Uncommonly good for its class, showing what can be done on a small budget, great acting and writing and decent cinematography.

Cohabitation
(2020)

Entertaining character-driven story with thriller undertones...
Entertaining character-driven story with thriller undertones about a paramedic who attempts to skirt PTSD by checking out of life but her new roommate with a questionable past has other plans. Interesting vendetta twist. Up and coming filmmaker/writer Lauren Barker keeps things moving and lively in this well-produced microbudget drama.

Wade in the Water
(2019)

Great Indie Human Drama
I loved this movie. It was done very low budget but had a great story and acting and was refreshingly different. The writing, acting, direction were top notch yet still retained its indie innocence. I was especially impressed with the lead actress she has a natural star quality.

The Midas Touch

Fun Movie!
Good and funny movie - well worth the watch! Depending on what your expectations are, it's not a high budget but these low budgets are better for me I like what these filmmakers do with less money.

The Dark and the Wicked
(2020)

Outstanding - Very Well Done!
Outstanding - Very Well Done!

I'm a big fan of Bertino. He directed the masterful THE STRANGERS original and the sequel as well as THE MONSTER. Dark and Wicked is OUTSTANDING on every level.

Tristan Nyby's cinematography is brilliant, rich, ominous and powerful, as are the performances and a super tight script.

Bertino knows how to milk every last ounce of tension and suspense from each scene and keeps it up till the end.

When the Fever Breaks
(2019)

Well paced, intense and fun!
Lovely low budget entry to the zombie apocalypse genre. Well paced, intense and fun. Decent performances.

Greatland
(2020)

Colorful and Fun
Colorful, imaginative and bizarre. A fantasy-like surrealistic tale with a message about gender roles, this one could eventually become a cult film. It won't be for everyone, but I enjoyed it. Star actor Eric Roberts is memorable as well.

Love Is Not Enough
(2019)

It's Got Heart and Soul!
Enjoyable limited-budget african-american comedy-drama love story. Interesting characters and funny situations are punctuated by a positive message of redemption. If you like black comedic dramas, check this one out, it's got heart and soul.

The Eve
(2015)

I Enjoyed It
Cool thriller set in scenic locations - the main one being Martha's Vineyard in the winter, which is really pretty. Pretty decent performances. Low budget but effective. Earlier review said killer was obvious. I disagree. Surprise ending.

6 Weeks to Mother's Day
(2017)

Bravo All The Way Around - I Loved It!
Heartwarming and positive documentary about a woman called 'Mother' who runs a school for unloved children in the jungles of Thailand. Beautifully shot and well crafted treatise on the power of making a difference to those who need it the most - and how that help ripples outward in ever-widening concentric circles. Well worth watching. We could use more films like this.

The Crumbs
(2020)

BNB From Hell!
Creepy and unsettling. If you liked Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you'll enjoy this story of a backwoods family that does experiments on unwitting travelers who fall into their den of iniquity. The gore is kept at a minimum but the forboding evil is ever present. Punctuated by quirky and comic characters. Some very good performances. This one could achieve cult status!

Endearing Romantic Drama
Good performances punctuate this endearing romantic drama directed by Guy Pigden. Story of a struggling man in a difficult relationship with a beautiful but complicated woman and his developing friendship with a second old flame which rekindles and new feelings emerge aknew. Comedic, entertaining, fun and witty. If you love rom-coms like When Harry Met Sally you'll love this.

Paranormal Attraction
(2020)

Reminiscent of Paranormal Activity, but with it's own unique twist...
This cinematic turn from director Alex T. Hwang is reminiscent of Paranormal Activity, but with it's own unique twist. Newcomer Brooklyn Haley turns in a decent performance as the innocent ingenue who develops a lesbian relationship with a hot lady cop. It's super low budget fare, my kind of movie. Those looking for studio polish need not apply.
