Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
(2016)

A must see for fans...But moves fast past the magic.
Overall, I liked MOS and thought it was a good starting point for the upcoming DCEU, and was excited to see Batman V Superman, with high expectations that they were taking things to the next level. I have to say i enjoyed the film and it was visually stunning. From a "distance" its a good movie worth seeing and watching over again. Really look forward to the directors cut.

That said..It left a lot to be desired. It almost feels like watching a 4 hour movie on 1.5 speed fast-forward.

Finally...we get to see detective Batman/Bruce Wayne in action at the party.. sneaking around avoiding security, stealing secrets and evidence, using awesome bat-gadgets etc to break into highly secure areas to extract confidential information. NOPE. NOT HOW IT HAPPENED

Okay. Well, finally we get to watch the court proceedings, and hear some heated debate how the government and people really feel about Superman, aliens, the destruction etc, and how Superman defends himself and his actions, and how he fits in society, politics, and the world. Perhaps a super-speech that helps us understand his motives and what makes him the great savior and hero we've come to know from the comics. SORRY, BUT NO, TRY AGAIN

Well, at least we get to witness Batman and Superman fight it out... then after-wards realize they are on the same side, find some real common ground, and eventually develop a deep friendship and bond which ultimately leads to the foundation of the Justice League. NOT HAPPENING

The movie is FILLED with great ideas and scenes that, if fully developed, could have been very intense, interesting, insightful, and inspiring. Instead, all the great ideas and scenes are crammed into the movie and cut short... and we're left with an awesome Wonderman we don't know, a brilliant Batman/Bruce thats under-utilized, a dead Superman nobody really cares about, and a literally insane Lex, that doesn't seem mentally stable enough to command respect or devise a brilliant plan. Not to mention another so-so looking CGI creature that blows up more stuff.

Hopefully the directors/ultimate cut fills in some of the blanks. They are on the right track, and have the right actors, ideas, tone, and visuals to create something amazing. Just need to work on making a standalone good movie, as opposed to rushing the plot and fast- forwarding to the Justice League.

Too many really good ideas seem to have gone to waste in this one. But the fact that the ideas are good, the visuals are great, the score is amazing, and the actors are (almost) all cast perfectly...make this a solid film worth checking out. Especially if you're a fan of the characters. 7/10

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
(2014)

The Dawn is taking longer than expected.
*Possible Spoilers* I enjoyed the first one, and expected this sequel to be a story about the rise (or dawn whatever) of the apes to global power, as the dominant species on the planet, with the humans struggling to find ways to recover control from an intelligent ape society. Well, maybe they'll get to that in the next one, because this was more about a relatively small group of smart apes, living in solitude for a decade, who soon discover humans still exist, and must decide how to get along with them (if possible), in a remote part of a worn down san francisco. Unlike the first movie, the events that take place probably wouldn't effect the world very much, and ultimately seem...well rather insignificant. Don't let this take away from the fact that this is still an entertaining movie, and well worth the watch. 7/10
