Jawan
(2023)

Cool entertainer with a great message!
The movie is made as an action-packed mass-masala entertainer to capture the interest of all movie-goers in India and I believe that the movie will achieve that due to the high relevance in today's political ecosystem. The movie isn't preachy but delivers some solid food for thought.

The Action sequences are very well made with SRK's physique put to the test ( or I don't know if it's stunt doubles 😂 ), which was the highlight of the movie. Each sequence makes you cheer for SRK and that's done effortlessly! Nayantara really surprised me with her action sequences and she had good chemistry with SRK too.

Cinematography was peak and beautiful to watch in theatre and the person who did that, did his job really well!

Plot was mediocre though with Atlee combining sequences, stories and shots of his previous movies like Mersal and his usual formula making the lead actor play father and son with a predictable revenge story.

Anirudh's music for the movie didn't feel impactful but his background scores were superb which elevated the gravitas of SRK in action sequences!

Overall, it's a great watch in theatres and it's a solid popcorn movie!

The Equalizer 3
(2023)

Had high expectations but it was a bit of a letdown!
I was really excited to see Denzel back in action and went to watch in theatres the first day itself but honestly it was bad. It had the nuance and potential to be a great concluding chapter in the Equalizer series but it didn't do the character any justice. Somewhere along the way, the director, Antoine Fuqua lost the charm of how he made the first Equalizer great: with riveting and inventive action that keeps you glued to the screen. This movie doesn't have that. The opening act was cool but after that, the movie goes stale and bland for a long time until the end of the second half but even the climax of the movie wasn't properly done. You can easily predict what would happen in the movie pretty easily and if you have watched the trailer, there's actually nothing more to be seen cause they have included all the good portions of the movie in the trailer. Thankfully I didn't watch the trailer and so atleast, that was an advantage for me but even then, the movie is simply put: boring. I've even liked the second movie but this one is really bad! It felt like the movie didn't have a proper script and they just wanted to release a movie just to say that they've completed a trilogy!

One Piece: Wan pîsu: Luffy's Peak: Attained! Gear Fifth
(2023)
Episode 1,071, Season 1

Drop dead gorgeous animation!!
This episode was a fantabulous visual treat for all the anime fans across the world! The cinematography, blitz-like animation style infused with a soundtrack that complements the situation of what's happening in the anime and elevates it to another level like never before ! I know most of the manga readers might already know the story and what's happening but even then, they will obviously tune in to see how well it's visualised in the anime! Kudos to Mayuri Tanaka for voicing Luffy for 20+ years and still she finds ways to innovate with her voice as she did in this episode! I won't spoil it for people who are planning to watch it without even watching the teaser but all of you are in for a treat! If this is just the introductory episode, imagine how the next episodes are gonna be like!

My only negative with this episode is maybe they show too much of flashbacks and maybe reduce that next time but I doubt they will coz one piece have been like this since it's inception. Rest, everything is PICTURE-PERFECT!!

The Batman
(2022)

A mashup of old movies blended in a way such that the average filmgoer doesn't know about it
Matt Reeves has made this movie quite well - he added the scene of Jack Nicholson's "Chinatown" where cat woman tells Batman that Falcone is her dad (Sounds familiar!!😁), he copied (or what is the fancy word for that - inspired😂) the entire climax of Daredevil Season 1 where Fisk is actually behind everything happening in Hell's Kitchen and he's the confidential informant and Matt Reeves even reused scenes from his "Dawn of the planet of the apes" movie - the scene in Batman where the gangsters shoot BatMan in the dark. People were trying to be woke saying Zoe's catwoman was a scene stealer but she wasn't and she bored me to the core. Pattinson's acting was good but I felt his acting chops were under-utilized. Colin Farrel was a breath of Fresh air in this movie. This movie didn't have good dialogues which established a relationship between the characters and thus lost the tinge of humanity required. It also copied a lot from the Arkham Batman videogames ( the starting fight scene, his investigative equipment scenes and many more ) . Credit goes to Greg Fraiser for his outstanding cinematography!! After watching this movie, I liked it but more than ever, I'm feeling that Warner Brothers should have proceeded with the Snyderverse !

Don't Look Up
(2021)

A thought-provoking Bulwark of a movie!!
Adam Mckay is at his top form here after "The Big Short" and he has created a wonderful movie with a much needed message to everyone in the world without being preachy and that's the quintessential beauty of this movie. All the actors are well casted and did their roles wonderfully. The movie is as honest as it can be and invokes pensive thoughts about conglomerates, their influence on politics and people, how social media delineates the line between fact, fiction and truth and so on. The movie makes you see that the problems we humans face now are trivial when compared to a real danger like the one presented in the movie and as always, humans are the crux of any problem that may or may not get solved and the movie is blurting out the truth that it's time for Humans to unite, with all might, with all the strength it can muster to save and conserve our planet Earth, for we are nothing without it. Kudos to the makers for delivering such a brilliant movie!!

No Time to Die
(2021)

A Lacklustre Bond
I went to this movie with full expectations with high hopes for death-defying action, well written plot and a great end to Daniel Craig's bond. I've liked all the previous Bond movies of Daniel Craig but not this one. Quantum of Solace was 100 times better than this. To start things off, Billie Eilish's opening song was a huge bore when compared to all the previous bond songs. Then comes the plot - a bad concoction of a haphazard story (obvious problem due to change of director and bringing in Phoebe Waller Bridge to a genre she doesn't have any experience in). Next comes the pacing of the movie which felt a bit off when compared to previous Daniel Craig bond movies. Now, I'll mention the positive parts - Daniel Craig's starting action sequence (which every bond movie does well), Ana De Armas(she just shined really well). These were the only parts I liked. Daniel Craig deserved a much more spectacular ending for reinventing Bond but alas, we are not getting that here!!
