CBGB
(2013)

One of the best music movies
The music inheritage of CBGB and the history of PUNK in a movie. Simply outstanding.

Cobain: Montage of Heck
(2015)

The controversial idol
A controversial image. An uncompromising revolutionary artist or an adolescent with psychological problems? The truth is that Kurt Cobain was, is and will be an enormous figure. A man milestone in music history. In the film they made very good efforts to approach such a complex personality and in a great degree they succeed. Very nice scenes with animation. I'd like some more interviews of Cobain so I could understand him better. The only thing that annoyed me were the scenes with Courtney Love. That approach gave me the feeling that i watched a soap opera. Nevertheless, a remarkable documentary which from we learn more of that wonderful musician, Kurt Cobain.

Jimi: All Is by My Side
(2013)

Didn't meet the expectations
The reason why I write this review in a simple language is because the film worths nothing more than that. The film itself is simple. Sure you learn things about the life of Jimi Hendrix, at least for the period of his life it refers to. André Benjamin is doing a good job, for a man who is not purely an actor, but up to a point. Very poor directing in terms of technique and aesthetics. The passion, the vibes and the electricity of the music of that period did not appear in any phase in the film. The approach to social issues was so simplistic that i would prefer if the director/writer avoid it. As an avid fan of Hendrix i saw the film without resentment but with disappointment. For the rest of the possible viewers, don't waste your time i suppose.

Buena Vista Social Club
(1999)

Simplicity at its greatness
One could describe it as a life lesson. A seminar for anyone involved in any art form. The internal recognition and peace with no need for wide acceptance, glory or money. Giants of the musical firmament that their food was the greatness of their soul and their love for music. Human sensitivity and romanticism at the height of their beauty. Their gold, the human values, honor and dignity. Lovers of love and truth. All these huge musicians appearing give us a life lesson. Simplicity as something more precious than all the treasures of the world. Wenders once again shows its quality. And a big thanks to Ry Cooder who brought to light these diamonds of world civilization.

Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul
(2005)

A diamond of documentaries
Alexander Hacke, a figure of the underground life of Berlin and musical intelligentsia of Germany doing a western objective approach to the music of this city, leaving every hero of this film unfold the greatness of his inner world. Faith Akin, the eye that always tries to give what is behind each picture. Each directorial frame gives the pulse and the aura of human life in all its truth. "Crossing the bridge: The Sound of Istanbul" is not a musical documentary. Faith Akin gives us through music, a comprehensive description of Istanbul at all levels, presenting its history, class and age differences of the people but also the common point that unites and simultaneously separates them, their culture. Simply a masterpiece.
