The Witcher: Blood Origin
(2022)

good, but not amazing
I think they should have kept the show at 6 episodes. A lot of the scenes felt short and rushed, and things weren't fleshed out enough.

People complaining online about the diversity are ridiculous (why does it matter? Really? Give one reason why it matters or it's "bad" for the show to be diverse?), and should instead focus on actual critiques, such as quite a lot of stilted dialogue, a few cringe-worthy moments, and a lot of unexplained things - particularly, what was the floating blue orb meant to be?!

Positives: cool sets, great costumes, i surprisingly loved Avallach and Eredin, it was entertaining enough, and i actually quite enjoyed the idea of attempting to create a sort of witcher-prototype before witchers were actually invented.

Elves were too similar to the humans of the main show, instead of being their own society/civilisation, but that could be explained as the humans taking over everything that was originally elven. The actors clearly had great talent (most, not all), but the writing did fall short at times with unnatural dialogue.

All in all, i really did enjoy this. I loved seeing Ithlinne- she was one of the best parts. And the songs were great. This definitely was not as bad as some people say (i think some were determined to despise it no matter what, unfortunately), but there were also definitely aspects that needed improving.

Wrong Turn
(2021)

I cannot believe how good this was
I haven't seen the old films, but i thought this was truly amazing. I have never watched a film like it. The characters were likeable, the events shocking and unforeseen. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Every time you thought you knew what was happening, you didn't. It goes through so many different phases, each unexpected. I don't understand the low reviews. Are people just annoyed that it doesn't fit with the old films? Because as a standalone, it was absolutely incredible. It has easily found a place within my top 3 films.

Grace
(2014)

fairly decent
Wasn't terrible, but the first half was better than the second. The whole exorcism bit felt a bit overplayed and took away from the eeriness of the film.

Rust Creek
(2018)

amazing compared to other films in this genre
Started really really strong! The main female lead did p much everything right and didn't do anything stupid and acted like a normal person? Her acting was absolutely brilliant, too! So emotional and horrible to watch.

Aftermath
(2021)

ehhhhhhh
Atrocious acting and style. Hated the female lead. Stupid script. Got better in the second half.

She Dies Tomorrow
(2020)

absolute rubbish?
Couldn't even finish it. Pretentious and horrid. Random shots and close-ups and weird movements in an attempt to seem philosophical. Slow as hell.

After.Life
(2009)

Amazing idea, but horribly made
A really strange start??? The female character was so unlikeable and her actions really confused me??? The boyfriend's acting was good though. Felt bad for him.

Haunter
(2013)

brilliant for its genre
Super unique, good acting, amazing plot, and a solid ending.
