Not nearly as bad as most say
Like, yeah some jokes fall flat. But for the most part this is a fun over the top dramatization of Americans. The characters are enjoyable, the plot is easy to follow, its really good fun. Its not high brow, nor is it ground breaking. Its an hour and a half of just making fun of America, told through a intriguing "Tell Tale" games animation style. I dont really see a lot of the faults others do, I see it for what it is. A beautifully dumb movie thats good for some giggles and slams against America. Id recommend this to friends.

Good but...
I liked this episode alot! My main problem was the placement, in the middle of the season, felt off and it was a rather short episode for what could have easily been a two parter OR an open ended episode with problems being released to be solved later. Still it was good.
It is weird that the ponys are slow to react to a situation theyve seen before, especially twilight who has dealt first hand with the opposite versions of the mane 6 before.

Episode 15, Season 8
Made utterly no sense
Last we saw discord he was all anti love, which I can understand. He came around and saw what love meant to people, he learned. Gradually since discord become a good guy he has become more and more friendly, which is good.
However, in this episode it seems they threw all that development out the window. Starlight running the school made sense, especially when you have all the mane 6 out of the episode. Bringing Maud, Trixie, and Spitfire is a great idea. You couldve done so much.
What went wrong?
Discord threw a massive temper tantrum because he "felt left out" and was hell bent on ruining the school. Not only that but he sent the mane 6 away on a false friendship mission. Does any of his actions have consequences? No. He actually gets an apology and a reward. This not only reinforces whining to get what you want but its also completely out of character.
What could have been
Show us more of the substitutes teaching! Have 6 different people teaching classes! We got Maud, Trixie, Spitfire, why not Ms. Cake or Granny Smith, or Big Mac HECK THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS COULD TOO. The episode could be showing how much the mane 6 have affected ponyville so everyone is good at friendship, it could've birthed a cool all mane 6 friendship problem episode, and it couldve proved to have more than a couple tiny jokes in this massive dumpster five
