My Cousin Vinny
(1992)

New York CITY????
Other than being used in Law School to show why you tell a client to shut up 'I shot the sheriff...I shot the sheriff??? Being twisted into a confession this is the worst legally researched film of all times.

No Judge starts a Death Penalty trial without having Defense Lawyers experienced in such trials. They also don't waste a small town's money and resources on a trial that will result in a mistrial if an unknown lawyer is not suitable after 3 weeks.

But after numerous times of watching Vinny over the years I spotted the worst mistake in the movie. EXPERT George Wilbur swears under oath he tested the tire marks and they are IDENTICAL to the Defendant's tires......although the rubber he tested isn't from their car.5 minutes later he swears under oath it can't be from their car.

Monk: Mr. Monk Meets the Godfather
(2004)
Episode 5, Season 3

True crimes
It is beyond sad that although Monk is only able to see the truth and facts and the Police don't let him earn a decent living the minute he sells his talent and services to a person being framed the Police including Stottlemayer and the FBI start pressuring him to ignore his principles and find their evidence.

What a sad but true documentary on our actual legal system. At least Monk ruined the tie and found the actual murderer. Who was the funniest character in what is supposed to be a Comedy. Does anybody miss the irony in the thief and killer confessing to get away from the Godfather by going to prison where there are dozens of his people waiting only on his orders.

Wings
(1990)

Not really funny today
I can't remember before Brian was a real life character in the news everyday for insulting everyone, telling lies and being a narcissist who hates women but maybe he was funny back then.

One odd thing I watched for when yet another deception or scam fell flat was the number of red haired people in almost every scene. Mostly women but many men in background shots as extras had red hair about 1000% higher than the average population.

Did the writers not know only PILOTS do a Pre-Flight inspection or did they just not care?

Reading through the trivia, goofs and reviews there is no mention of why this occured for all seasons. I agree with those who saw the obnoxious Helen and still wonder why the writers thought Boohoo I was a fat kid and everybody dragging her across the floor was funny.

Night Court
(2023)

Night is for sleeping...ZZzzzzzzzzzzz
Their first of many problems is the only talent on the set is Dan Fielding who is not a stand up comic. He is brilliant when set up for his kind of humor but nobody on this show has that talent of straight man. The weakest link of the real Night Court was Art the dork who created a vacuum as a maintainence man but this new guy is so bad even Art looks good in comparison.

Not really sure where Harry got a daughter or how the least qualified Judge in history has a daughter even less qualified taking his old job...........coincidental???? What a tragedy that the 2nd most boring actor on the real Night Court died....... Dirk could have been the Star of the show.

All is not lost if they can drag the Wheelers back to the cafeteria or maybe Yakov Smirnoff to ensure this show is cancelled. Mel Torme would have shortened it's life by 6 months but he shuffled off to wherever bagpipe and accordian players end up.

The Other
(1972)

Rattle,rattle,rattle........
You'd think an evil genius would stuff some cotton inside his Prince Albert tobacco can to protect his valuables and not announce his presence from 500 feet away.

One interesting thing from 1972 is the Circus "FAT LADY" who might have been show worthy back then but is smaller than the Walmart scooter riders we see every day in 2022.

We could have probably done without all the foreign language nobody understood but any kid the evil doers age who keeps his shirt tail tucked in for a two hour movie can probably speak many languages.

An entertaining movie for killing a slow evening but it needed more evil with less discussion to be a horror movie or more suspense to be an action movie.

How did IMBD miss the clean stairs that suddenly had 4 inches of cat tail fuzz on each step when they left the basement.

Blacula
(1972)

Great get the popcorn movie.
Other than turning him into a vampire there wasn't much old BBC movies where they sit around and talk...and talk....and talk. Everything seemed realistic and could happen but if a wooden stake kills a vampire why not pull it out and kill a few more?

They missed a few goofs like the importer guy who cut his arm but when Blacula hops out of his coffin and his partner pulls the bandage away not a scratch is on the arm. I get needing magic oil lamps that once lit put out more light than the sun but nobody ships cases of oil lamps filled with kerosene and two guys skinning every penny they can from reselling would sell you the oil separately.

I guess low budget and running time limit the scenes possible but you can leave a dead vampire in an open grave and it's never mentioned by the Police or his friends they talked to later?

All in all an interesting and fun to watch movie.

Scream Blacula Scream
(1973)

Great technical director.
This movie sticks close to the myths about vampires and is very watchable. The two most glaring mistakes are Gloria we would assume was embalmed by the undertakers who put her in the casket but yet she came back to life anyway. That may or may not be possible since back in the days of vampires in Transylvania dead folks weren't embalmed so there's no historical folklore about what formaldehyde would do to the undead.

The other big mistake is ol' Blacula draining two living bodies in an hour or so. That's two to three gallons of blood with a stomach that holds one to two quarts of volume.

Overall it's an entertaining movie with a leading bad guy you wouldn't want to meet in a lonely place.

Penn & Teller: Fool Us
(2011)

Great show
...but it seems the host is too eager to be the prim and proper schoolmarm who is too easily shocked by things she would have smacked with a flute at Band Camp.

Wonderful tricks that don't involve the quintessential 'STRANGER' from the audience which of course the magician has never met but they always pick the volunteer.

You have to love the economics for the show. Not a bad looking trophy but it's the only thing magicians get if they're lucky and then they can perform on Penn and Tellers regular show. Nice to make money from a show that is actually an audition for their main show. Altogether a fun show to watch.

WKRP in Cincinnati: Who Is Gordon Sims?
(1979)
Episode 18, Season 1

Times do change
Actual episode based on facts from the Vietnam era. I came home to fools spitting on us and calling soldiers vulgar names but I preferred that to those same hypocrites saying Thank you for your service that keeps a gutless coward like me free in America.

Venus was correct in saying it was a dark place where he was. There was a severly disproportionate ratio of minority soldiers in what was affectionately called the 'Combat Arms' which means Infantry. Quite an impressive performance by the Major and I wonder if a real Major could handle the same situation in this age of bone spurs and disrespect for the military from the highest office in the land.

Barney Miller
(1975)

Almost great but...
The trivia says real cops think this is the most realistic show on Earth but Wojo is a walking joke too dumb to believe. And most police officers don't attack suspects calling them names and talking down to them. They also don't steal a taxi cab and destroy it and do 50,000 in damage to public property chasing a misdemeanor suspect without being fired.

Rather a cold blooded choice of names for a guy with an IQ of 93. I'm sure many were offended by the stereotype. And if they hadn't already insulted law enforcement enough they bring in Levitz and the Inspector.

Sad that such a great potential was brought down by bad character choices.

Gone with the Wind
(1939)

Great entertainment weak history.
Why is Mammy called a maid or servant? She was a modern day Personal Assistant who ran everything in the house and raised the children. And since women couldn't own property how did Widow Scarlett get Frank's store and sawmills?

There was no actual 12 Oaks plantation but after the war the land there would have belonged to Ashley and his taxes would be as high as Scarletts but no mention of his getting the money. If the Overseer really wanted to stick it to the snobbish Scarlett he should have bought 12 Oaks and built a new house.

Rather silly of Rhett to join an Army that had thousands deserting at that point. With his sudden Rebel Pride he should have made more runs to Europe for supplies they needed and paid for them with his millions.

Overall the person with the most honest integrity was Belle Wattling. Odd how Scarlett was selling the same thing Belle was to get revenge and Frank's money and then Rhett's money but the Aristocrats looked down at Belle during the day even though most of them were at her place at night.

Master Minds
(2020)

Could be great but......
Brooke is the most annoying woman on TV with her cheerleading for the competitors and that devastating show of emotions when they miss anything. With the exception of Muffin who thinks she's all that but can't read the cue cards for the silly extra facts.

Not sure if it's rigged but during the final round Muffin. Just started counting on her fingers BEFORE being asked how many provinces are in Canada.....Gee Muffin whatever were you pretending to figure out?

Deal or No Deal
(2005)

What they advertise.....
Ain't what you'll get. Your first clue to not waste time on this show is all the scantily clad models and their fake emotions. They get nothing extra no matter what amount they're holding. Maybe if they had a LeMan's start with them scrambling and wrestling for a briefcase it would add excitement.

Seeing the greed from the families of course the contestant is in debt and needs money. No matter how much they win they'll still be in debt.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Employee of the Month
(2004)
Episode 7, Season 3

Really?
They shoot out a tire on an overloaded van any cop could have spotted in 5 minutes. Then in case you weren't insulted enough a cop shows up before she's finished wrecking the van.

They already used their quota of bad cops cleared by Monk. New ideas please.

Out of Rosenheim
(1987)

Magical Magic Kit..
Most of the dead spots could have been eliminated by a trip to town or maybe two. The German could have fooled Penn & Teller with her tricks from a small child's magic set. And feeding dozens of truckers with no supplies or deliveries is a miracle....maybe they had some fish and loaves of bread.

Why all the 'most desolate place on Earth' comments? That highway has more traffic than Las Vegas and there's a train every hour or so. And another puzzler is why the Taxi stops on the road. Every horndog in the County drives up to the Cafe to let the girl hop out or in a vehicle. Or off of a chopper which is the most impractical thing in a desert but maybe the director saw Vanishing Point and liked Smokey Lonesome's bike crash.

As a comedy it's an entertaining movie but those deeply hidden subplots didn't appear for me.

Sleepwalkers
(1992)

Ahead of it's time.
Sadly the older reviews are sickened by the incest but everything since 2016 is more Ho Hum she probably 'DATED' her father so now she's 'DATING' her son...several times a day. And that no talent screamer crossed a line when she told the cop 'But we came here in a red car. Now it's a blue Trans-Am. People in rural areas without running water know what a MUSTANG is. If she didn't there's a Mustang emblem on the dash.....Golly gee Charles what's this cute little horsey thing here?

Although boring an attaboy to King for wanting more screen time but he has no acting talent...just do the same scene several times with different guys 'This ain't my fault. I locked the gate!!!!'.Well good Forest, when we leave you can cut the grass on the football field.

Although the Director missed something the entire film there seemed to be an actual sub plot building with the screamer's family being possibly a worse type of monster but it was accidental.

In a Child's Play sort of fashion this movie with another Chucky is not a bad comedy if you accept it for what it is. Loved the screamer at the end who just had her whole family and every cop in town murdered while hideous monsters tried to kill her being so calm 'Clovis we're all alone now.'Too bad the writers missed the obvious fact the Trans Am would have become visible when monster woman died. The screamer would have owned a sweet car to impress her friends next day ay school.

The Ringer
(2005)

Easy to review.
Johnny Knoxville had two heads in 'Men in Black 2" and would do anything for money.

Johnny Knoxville has two heads in "The Ringer" and the big head will do anything for money. Unfortunately all his thinking is done by the little head to get what little heads always want.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the UFO
(2009)
Episode 3, Season 8

Welcome to the real world Monk.
It's about time somebody refused to accept Monk's sarcastic insults and the mechanic does a great job. I'm cracking up at the reviews calling out the UFO nuts for wearing 'ridiculous' outfits. Nothing could possibly be more ridiculous than a grown man wearing the same fugly clothes every day and buttoning all the shirt's buttons. Who does that.....oh yeah Karl Childers of Slingblade renown. Also the 'Rainman' Raymond Babbitt. And Glen,Billy and others on 'The Ringer'.

Hard to believe anybody who knows Natalie would ever invite her to anything so Monk can show up and ruin the occasion being celebrated, usually at great expense. But in TV land the show needs a plot. This episode should remind folks that "MONK" is a comedy series about a ridiculous person who is there to be laughed at.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the End: Part 2
(2009)
Episode 16, Season 8

Another Virgin birth Monk??
Trudy having an illegitimate daughter after an adulterous sex affair which really was for no reason than she could and the dude wanted to sort of tarnishes the image of the perfect woman Monk created. Maybe Monk can marry the daughter since he wants another Trudy and the girl isn't related to him.

Rumor has it Shaloub is difficult to work with and irritates everyone else. I'd say with this weird finale of the Sainted Trudy putting the horns on Monk the writers got even.

Ed McBain's 87th Precinct: Heatwave
(1997)

Rather cold acting for a Heatwave.
Like one reviewer pointed out Kling needed Haviland or Fat Ollie giving him one upside the head. And Meyer suffers in comparison to Norman Fell.

Too bad they couldn't drop Carella and Kling off the roof and see if either could act their way to the ground. At least Carella might have lost that freaky whispering if he screamed loud enough. A fairly watchable movie but nowhere near the quality of the TV series.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Magician
(2009)
Episode 15, Season 7

Not a good idea.
What's more insane than letting Monk get too weird to believe?? Adding in someone even nuttier...Marcie,Dorfman,1/2 Brothers. I guess they couldn't afford Ambrose who actually had talent.

One thing is for sure for those thinking nobody could be as selfish and out of touch as Monk.....starting 5 years ago they realised yes they could. Hasn't been very funny since then.

Monk: Mr. Monk on Wheels
(2009)
Episode 11, Season 7

A puzzle only Monk could solve.
Give it 10 stars for Natalie finally shooting the moron or 1 star for only wounding a leg??Even the writers got tired of Monk's attitude toward other cast members and on the set. Every show he was on was the same....arrogant,putting everybody else down, demanding things be his way. Gee maybe that's why they turned Trudy into an Anti-Monk with no morals in the last episode.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Bully
(2009)
Episode 14, Season 7

Monk is irritating.
The only other character in history as silly as Monk as a child was Beaver Cleaver and even he matured into an adult enough to admit he himself caused most of his problems.

Monk doesn't and never will. And what brilliant writers. That high tech computer thingy is so original.....gee a 3rd grade kid could not only operate a digital camera but would zoom in for a close up.

Any sympathy for Monk goes out the window with his juvenille acting in the Captain's office. Maybe if they had him throw his food on the floor and fling ketchup on the walls his tantrums would be amusing. Wait.....no they weren't.

Monk: Mr. Monk's Other Brother
(2009)
Episode 10, Season 7

Watchable but.........
What a shock to find out Monk's half-wit brother wasn't. Chris Garten from Tremors 2:Aftershock. Good lord there are 2 guys that irritating?? Well even Gilbert Gottfried had friends so at least they can fill the void he left.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Miracle
(2008)
Episode 9, Season 7

Ted Levine is an actor.
Nobody could have played Jame Gumb as well and his range as a tortured soul in the Monastery is beyond belief. Why he wasn't Randall Flagg in 'The Stand' is a puzzle. Sad that he's locked into a role with a puppet like Monk. Every episode he acts the same which is the same role he had on Wings only more arrogant and demanding.

They should have produced the episodes with Randy as Mayor and Police Chief which were written after the show ended.
