Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story
(2020)

One of the best.
One of the best series from India. I enjoyed it a lot, specially the character of K Madhavan.

The Test: A New Era for Australia's Team
(2020)

Great documentary on cricket.
This is one of the great documentary on cricket. When this scandal happened whole of the cricketing world was in shock. It's great to have some insight on what happened after that. Although because it's heavily influenced by the Australian team's perspective so completed fails to shine light on how did the scandal happen, who was the main architect of it, since how long they were doing it before being caught.

Overall it's a great documentary because there aren't many like this on cricket.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.
(2011)

Fun
Fun movie, the ending was funny and surprising. Just simple light comedy.

Chernobyl
(2019)

Informing, unsetting, humbling
Great documentary. Shines light on human how negligence can lead to disaster of this scale, and how they can make it worse just to cover-up their incompetence.

The Dictator
(2012)

Super Funny
"The Dictator" is super funny. The film let's noting get in its way to be super funny. The purpose of this is to make you laugh and nothing more, so don't try to focus on the plot holes otherwise you'll ruin this movie for yourself.

Icarus
(2017)

Shining light on the corruption in sports.
As a kid who was always fascinated and inspired by sports and Olympics being the highest rank for sports, the truth of doping which is like open secret in the sports has left me devastated. To greed and misuse of power by some people can ruin sports for both spectators and sports persons alike. Grigory Rodchenkov earned my respect by standing up to the Russian government and sticking to the truth in the end. Although it doesn't free him of his past but it certainly makes amendments to his image. Over all this is brilliant documentary and I would recommend every sportsperson to watch it.

Captain Marvel
(2019)

Mar-Vell-Ous
Captain Marvel is a fun movie to watch. Although the film is not very exceptional but it's definitely enjoyable. There are some great scenes and humor. Samuel L. Jackson was excellent with the jokes and sarcasm. Captain Marvel has everything you'd expect of a Marvel movie. Action, comedy and betrayal it had everything.

People disappointed with the movie, are the people who were expecting too much. Every movie can't be epic.

Overall Captain Marvel is a fun movie and people who enjoy Marvel movies will definitely enjoy it.

Mirzapur
(2018)

Disappointing
I was really excited about it but my expectations were slowly killed as I moved from one episode to another. It feels that instead of the story the series focuses on serving the cocktail of violence, politics and sex without any narrative. Mirzapur has too many plot holes to ignore. It starts with the both Pandit brothers joining hands with Kaleen Bhaiya. Although both brothers have no history of dealing with the violence but they smoothly transition into the gangster life without facing any significant hurdle. Munna, son of Kaleen Bhaiya is opposed to the partnership, so is the father of both the brothers but they fail to put any significant roadblock before it. Guddu is able to have an affair with Sweety, love interest of Munna but even though Munna has a lot of 'chelas' and goes to the same college yet somehow doesn't know about it. And the most bizarre thing is the 'Mr. Purvanchal Competition', Guddu who is never shown doing anything for preparations apart from just taking pills, looses his mind when he is not declared the winner and he only feels the side effect of the pills after the competition. Father of Sweety who is also a corrupt police officer and who certainly wants Sweety to marry Munna, doesn't even show surprise when Sweety introduces Guddu as her boyfriend. Guddu kills the 'Shukla' of Jaunpur and no immediate blow back is to be have by their side. The list goes on, you get the idea. In the end, I would only say that It's a dish which is overcooked.

Ralph Breaks the Internet
(2018)

Not up to the expectation
I was looking forward for the sequel, especially because the first part was such a masterpiece. But, I was very disappointed after watching this. It lacks in the story which was the most strong element in the first one. For me, the movie introduced too many new characters while ignoring old character like 'Fix it Felix'. It's a fun movie but when to look it as a sequel to the master piece which 'Wreck It Ralph' was, it stands no where.

Strokes of Genius
(2018)

Amazing
This doc takes us to the other side of the court, what players and their families sacrifice to produce something which only happens once in a lifetime. The rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest in the history and 2008 ' Wimbledon' final was the peak of it. It showed the dedication, grit, mental toughness of both the players. With all of the what made it more pleasant was the mutual admiration between Federer and Rafa, which is sadly rare in other players.

Tim's Vermeer
(2013)

Exploring the unknown
First of all I must admit that I had no idea who was Vermeer, before I started watching this master piece. But as soon as I saw the first painting of Vermeer my jaw dropped, I was amazed how could someone possible paint like that. I felt like that I was there with Tim as he tried different things to emulate Vermeer. I was even more amazed that something that incredible like a 'Vermeer' can possibly be created using simple tools which were able in the 17th century. It also showed that It's possible that great artist can also use scientific methods along with creativity to create something which is truly astonishing. It teaches us that not all art is created by imagination or combination of something supernatural. Though there is a slight possibility that Vermeer may have not used such instrument but Tim's attempt to recreate a Vermeer provides enough evidence to convince me that Vermeer used some kind of device to see things differently from others. But that doesn't make Vermeer's painting any less on the contrary I can imagine him putting months of months to achieve something which is much much beyond the ordinary. It also presents me Johannes Vermeer as a cross between an artist and a scientist. If you are lover of arts and sciences its a must watch

Bareilly Ki Barfi
(2017)

Fun movie to watch
This was a fun movie to watch. Rajkumar Rao was brilliant. I found it similar to movies like 'Garam Masala', 'Bhagam Bhag' etc.. Its nice to have a light movie like this once in a while.

The Fountain
(2006)

Emotional and Heart Wrenching
This is a masterpiece. The story is very emotional and acting is fantastic. You're always guessing what turn the story is going to take and some scenes are very emotional as you'll expect when main character of the movie is suffering from a terminal disease. I also liked the style of direction, this movie is very close to reading a book in experience. This the kind of movie the more you watch it the more you discover new things. Everyone should watch this movie to freshen up their taste and reduce the overload of Hollywood Formula of making popular films.

The Boss Baby
(2017)

Entertaining
I have to admit that I had very low expectations from this. How good a movie featuring a little baby can be? The answer is very good. Trust me you would not feel bored for a single moment. I totally recommend it.

Hacksaw Ridge
(2016)

Could have been much better
This story deserved better screenplay. The film tries to glorify the war where in reality it is very traumatic for soldiers of each side. But this movie tries to portray Japanese soldiers as zombies who don't have any feelings and they just want to kill or killed. The movie ignores the reality like a plague. The US soldiers are marching forward without any cover. Japanese have dug trenches but Americans don't bother. They use a point to climb over the ridge etc.. The list goes on you get the idea. I had high hopes for this movie but it turned out to be a disappointment.

Alien
(1979)

Good
Alien is a story of a commercial spaceship which lands on an inhabited planet after receiving a distress signal only to find out it was a warning signal instead. They find an alien spaceship with alien eggs. Soon after they are attacked by alien fetus which brings out the differences among them. They try all sorts of things to get rid of it. What spoiled this movie for me that it was a blockbuster in its time and in the span of more than 30 years we have seen several movie imitate 'The Alien '. Overall it is a very excellent movie considering the point that it was released in 1979.

127 Hours
(2010)

Not Much
Knowing that this movie is based on a true story, I was wondering how this can be translated into a movie. Can't do much if you only have to "a lone guy stuck in the canyon crack " as a story.

Metropolis
(1927)

Dare I say Not enjoyable in 2018
I was excited about the movie after reading the reviews but I have to say the this movie just not makes sense in 2018. It must have been a master piece in 20's but after almost 90 years it has lost all its relevance.

Redline
(2009)

Very Good
Frankly I must admit that I'm not a big anime fan and this was my first anime. But to my sweet surprise this is a very good and entertaining. This has everything that you can expect in a racing related movie. I was more astonished to find out that it took them 7 years and more than 100000 hand drawn pictures to complete this movie which only increased my appreciation for the movie.

10 Cloverfield Lane
(2016)

Loved it!
I loved the movie, especially the ending which came from no where. I kept guessing what would happen next and it kept going other way every time which doesn't happen very often. 10 Cloverfield Lane is beautifully written thriller which every thrill loving person must watch. First I was finding similarity with the movie "The Room (2015)" but after sometime things got more interesting and the ending was totally unexpected and somewhat funny. Totally not what I expect.

Shaun of the Dead
(2004)

Very Ordinary
I don't know why this movie is so highly rated. In my opinion this is a very ordinary movie, nothing special. I didn't even find it funny.

We Bought a Zoo
(2011)

Good not great
This movie could have been great provided that it is based on a true story. But unfortunately it isn't. The movie is so predictable from begging to end that I could tell what was about to happen next. Overall its a good movie to watch with family. Just enjoy it, don't expect anything special.

Children of Men
(2006)

This is the tale of Humanity
Children of Men was on my wishlist since a long time, finally I managed to watch it. And boy I was delighted. The movie is so emotional especially considering the refugee crisis going on now. This movie highlighted both good and evil sides of the humanity in such way that many other movies are simply not able to do. This film will be certainly in my top 10 movies.

Majo no takkyûbin
(1989)

Astonishing
I haven't seen the Japanese version but must admit I enjoyed the movie very much. I know that Disney has removed or was unable to maintain all the subtlety of the Japanese version as pointed out by other reviewers but I understand that they must had to do it to make it more appropriate for the American audience. So I can't complain.

Big Fish
(2003)

Lying as a life
I find it fascinating how the movie is able to deliver a message about life's own struggles and its joys with the "lying" in the center stage. The movie walks us through the essence of life while still being funny and light. As a young person sometimes these kind movies make you thing about the purpose of living or simply put "Why we live" and what lies in the core of humanity. Sometimes it makes you sad and sometimes it makes you appreciate your life much more.
