I never understood the hate for Ellen. She was always funny and I liked her 2018 special even though she whined a little bit about being a symbol for the gay community. I watched her talk show until she started dancing. A few months into the dancing I realized it was so awkward because she didn't really want to dance. Her producers wanted her to dance because they thought the audience loved it. So, from there on out she caved into her producers in order to get along. It was those same people who later called her a tyrant. Maybe she just wanted to have input on her own show? Anyway, this new special is really all about how that experience changed her. It's sad really but it is also a sign of the times. Hopefully Ellen will overcome this low point and realize it was only her inner circle that was the problem. Maybe she will stop isolating herself within her little group and see the rest of the world. I hope she comes to realize that being gay has nothing to do with the gender challenged and her sexuality is the least funny thing about her.

I wanted to watch this because it was about mountain gorillas and then I saw the poor rating but no reviews explaining why it was so low. This is a documentary but it isn't really about mountain gorillas. This is the story of Portia buying Ellen a gift for her 60th birthday and what it took for them to fix it up. The preserve was the Diane Fosse mountain gorilla center where Fosse spent many years studying the gorillas. The documentary interviews people in Ellen's world and at the gorilla center. There's very little about the gorillas in the documentary and so that's why there is a low rating. If you're an Ellen fan, you'll enjoy the documentary.
