Christmas Bloody Christmas
(2022)

Underwhelming
I try to avoid trailers so when I saw a quick 15 second one I thought this looked right up my alley. I mean who doesn't enjoy a violent gory holiday offering. So when the hip music store owner and her friend/employee started trying to one up each other with their snobbish music knowledge it got old pretty fast but persevered... barely.

Finally when the terminator dressed as Santa started its rampage things got a little better. There were some decent gore killings but that was about it. The male friend was insufferable. She wasn't much better but he was way worse. I must say I was disappointed but hey, I'll watch anything involving holiday gore.

If you miss this one don't fret, you didn't miss much.

Violent Night
(2022)

Die Hard Lite
Always one for violent and out of the norm holiday movies I figured I'd give this a go. I wasn't aware it was directed by Tommy Wirkola. That was a pleasant surprise.

For the most part it was an entertaining holiday themed action movie. Wasn't as political as most movies are now a days but the little girls dad came across as a sniveling weakling. So annoying. There were way to many Die Hard 1 and 2 similarities. Can't leave out Home Alone either.

It was fine for what it was. Nothing original but certainly entertaining and worth a watch. Want to see a better Tommy Wirkola movie watch Dead Snow.

Wednesday
(2022)

Not terrible.
This currently is sitting at 8.5. That's being generous. It's not terrible but it gave me a gothic Nancy Drew attends Hogwarts meets Pumpkinhead on the CW type of vibe. It's shot nicely and you can definitely feel Tim Burton's influence, which is a good thing, and she portrayed Wednesday pretty well but I didn't think CZJ and LG where a very good Mortica and Gomez. Like how Thing was a primary character. I was pleasantly surprised how much blood/violence was in it which added an extra star.

It did sort of drag a little but overall I found it to be passable and worth a watch. I'd probably watch a second season/entry but wouldn't be disappointed if they choose not to do one.

7/10.

Prey
(2022)

Wasted Potential
It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Watchable. A little far fetched with the 120 lb girl kicking everyone's arse. Would have enjoyed it much better as a subtitled movie. At least try for some authenticity.

I was lost trying to determine if it was suppose to be primitive hunter yet still having all of its toys. A little confusing. The girl did an above average job and the visuals were above average.

Overall one of the better entries in the series but for those that give it a 10, c'mon be real.

6/10.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
(2022)

At least the kills were decent.
The only reason to watch this is for some decent gore. Unlikeable characters and non coherent story. I would only recommend it if you're a person who likes to watch crap slasher flicks. And people say 80's slashers are terrible. If so, why do they keep remaking them. If you watch and like it or think it's a great movie, good for you. Glad you enjoyed it.

American Auto
(2021)

Oh my....
Being a fan of Superstore I had lofty expectations. Sadly those expectations were run over by this driverless attempt. I did chuckle a couple of times but that was about it. It's a shame really because I wanted to like it. Oh well, life is full of disappointments and this is one of them. Not sure this will be worth continuing. Maybe.

Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI
(1986)

I have a great Chiropractor but....
One of, if not, the best of the bunch. The Sheriff kill is in my top 3 of Jason kills. Always enjoyed that one. C. J. Graham was solid as Jason. One of the better ones to wear the mask.

The Suicide Squad
(2021)

Somewhat Entertaining.
Enjoyable in parts. Decent action pieces and I didn't mind the gore. Some good humor and I can always watch Margo Robbie as Harley. The other characters were passable. Watchable but nothing special.

Jolt
(2021)

Not terrible but not good either.
Action. Comedy. Mess. I enjoyed it more as a comedy than anything else. Even with the work she's had done it's always good to watch Kate. Her alone adds a couple of points.

SAGA - Curse of the Shadow
(2013)

Enjoyable B flick
I can't really add anything that others before me haven't already stated other than I enjoyed it enough to buy the Blu and watch it a few times. Above average costumes and everyone involved put forth a great effort. If you're into these type of flicks it's a solid watch.

The Mandalorian
(2019)

Repetitive
Great visuals. Good action pieces. Decent humor in spots but the story is weak. Very repetitive, same episode over and over. You help me, I help you, only a few guards yada yada yada. It was watchable but nowhere near as great as I was led to believe.

Barbarian Queen
(1985)

It only took 41 seconds.
41 seconds in and you have a topless woman. Thanks to Shout Factory this glorious entry into the 80's Sword and Sorcery trash cinema along with Amazons was just released on a Blu-ray double bill. All I can say is "Thank you." I remember watching this gem when it first came out, along with every other entry into the genre. Roger Corman, you sir were in integral part of my misspent teens. Is it complete garbage, yep but it's my type of garbage. Every single one of these Sword and Sorcery "films" are cinematic gold. Plain and simple. Scoff if you will but I bet I'm not alone.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
(2003)

Not as bad as some as some would lead you to believe
I for one didn't think the original was all that great. For it's time sure, I guess but nothing to rave about. This isn't a bad remake, I've seen worse. I enjoyed it. If this is the worst or dumbest movie you've ever seen, I'm envious. Jessica Biel alone gives it a 3 plus another 1 for R. Lee Ermey. So there's a 4 right out of the gate. If you want a gore flick to pass the time, watch it.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Yikes!!!
Sat down with my son, we were both really looking forward to seeing this. The opening sequence, that was decent I might add, ended then the mall sequence. Oh my. He looks at me, I look at him and he said "this is terrible". I couldn't have agreed more. This movie is a mess. Bad CGI, story that's all over the place and so much more. At two different points he wanted to shut it off but I talked him off the ledge. I was determined to finish, no matter what. I have been known to make bad decisions.

I feel giving it a 3 is VERY generous, VERY generous. How someone can even think this is a 10, please. Watch and judge for yourself but be warned. It's bad, very bad. Catwoman is an Oscar winner compared to this. Just say'n.

The Doorman
(2020)

"Die Hard" on a Ramen Noodle budget
It's "Die Hard" alright, except Reno lacks the panache of Hans Gruber. It was watchable.....I guess. All I kept seeing was Kate Kane and it scared me. The baddies weren't intimidating and the action wasn't all that great but I've seen worse. I know this is trivial but the way they wore those doorman caps over their ears bugged the crap out of me and those uniforms, straight out of some 1930's movie. That told me right then and there how this movie was going to be. I'm not here to tell anyone not to watch it but be warned, go in with low expectations and you'll be fine.

Rogue
(2020)

I've seen worse.
I didn't think my day would include writing a review regarding this flick. After reading all the negative reviews and comments about it, I figured I'd watch it to see how bad it really was. Well, I must say it wasn't the best movie I've ever watched and nothing I haven't seen before but to say it was a total waste of time, I'd go with no it wasn't. Does it have it's flaws? Absolutely, there are quite a few but it wasn't near as bad as some make it out to be. In the case of the CGI, brutal. Very bad and the story was all over the place. The so called "comedy" fell flat but I thought the action decent and she reloaded. That should be worth a star right there. I've seen worse.

Overall I'd say if you get a chance, watch it for yourself but don't spend your hard earned money on it. I thought it was a decent time waster and would watch it again. I really can't believe I'm actually defending this movie but a 3.8? It's better than that, hell, the Doorman is rated higher and that sucks way more than his one. Just say'n.

The Night Comes for Us
(2018)

What's it about? Don't know, don't care.
If you want a plot, a well crafted story or character development, you'll not find it here. If you want excessive violence, gore and an insane amount of action, well, that's what you'll get and then some. Worth the time if that's what your into. I had fun with it.

How to Marry a Millionaire
(1953)

Bear Trap
I'm not going to dig into the script, direction or character development. I'll just stick to things I like about this movie. Bacall and Grable did a good job and then there's William Powell. He's great in everything no matter how big the role. What I like most about this movie is Marilyn. By far my favorite of her movies. If you feel like something lite, give it a try. You could do worse.

Booksmart
(2019)

I tried...I really did.
I really wanted to like it but I couldn't even finish it. Force feeding me crap that I should think is funny. It wasn't. I thought I might get a couple of chuckles from it. Nope. I was wrong. It wasn't that it's a terrible movie, from what I watched of it anyway, for the right demographic but I'm not in that group. Good luck if you watch it. I hope you enjoy it. I couldn't make it.

Black Christmas
(2019)

I'm such a dolt.
Why oh why didn't I heed the advice that others before left. Did I watch it anyway, yep sure did. I feel shame. Not sure the shame came from watching it or that I'm a male and we're all pigs. I gave it a 2 because of some semblance of slasher esq type killings and a plastic bag. Yes, a plastic bag. I would advise against this one.

A Quiet Place
(2018)

What the ?
After reading various reviews and talking to people that have seen this, I was expecting an enjoyable viewing experience. That could not have been further from the truth. This movie is terrible. Boring and not suspenseful at all.

Credit for the idea, I guess. I was so confused about several things. Things that were never explained. I did like Emily Blunt and the looks of the creatures but that's it. Hence my 2 rating. Maybe it's just me but I don't understand all the hype. Oh well, to each their own.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
(2019)

Really.....
I sat down and thumbed through some of the reviews for this flick. I had to laugh. I love the no plot, no character development, meaningless violence, blah blah blah. No kidding. It's a John Wick movie. If you want serious, don't watch it. You don't have to be a genius to know what you're getting yourself into when you throw this thing in and hit play. It's not like this is the 3rd movie or anything. I also love the "worst movie I ever watched" ones. If this is the worst movie you've ever seen, you must have led a sheltered existence. Sit back, turn off your brain and enjoy it for what it is. It's actually a pretty simple concept.

Eliminators
(2016)

What I Expected
This isn't a review to point out all of flaws about this movie. I could care less about the acting, direction or any of the several other things people bring up when reviewing a film. I knew what I was getting into when I sat down to watch this. Which is fine. I am a Scott Adkins fan so I usually watch anything he's in and generally enjoy them. With that being said, what bothered me the most a bout this flick, someone else also mentioned it. That "hitman" was the worst in the history of hit men. It wasn't even the acting of Stu or Wade or whatever he prefers to be called, whomever wrote that character just made him so inept. The people in the movie were fine but my gosh that character. I just kept thinking that through the entire movie. The only other thing that stood out. The shoot out in the safe house. Nobody could hit anything from about 8 ft away...yikes. Would I recommend this movie, sure if you like B action flicks. In that regards it's fine. Enjoy.
