Midnight Mass
(2021)

Didnt finish it
So sick of endless animals dying for shock effect. Learn how to write a story that can stand on its feet without it. Gave up after two episodes.

Ghostbusters
(2016)

Stands on its own. Lots of fun
Not sure why everyone has got their knickers in a twist about 'gender swapping' as it isn't really. They're not replacing existing ghostbusters. They're not repeating the same story. It's a separate story with a new cast that is a lot of fun. We all loved it. Highly recommend for all the family.

Thunder Force
(2021)

Good goofy fun
Not sure why this has had such bad reviews. There's a lot of silliness but also some wittier moments. Great cast. Good effects. Easy and fun to watch.

Moxie
(2021)

Under-rated gem
I didn't have much expectations of this but thought I would give it a go. I was slightly triggered by the abusive tactics but this is a reflection of the film reflecting it well, instead of silly bullying tactics that most teen films show. This film covers a lot of areas that we should be aware of. Some in smaller doses than others. This is a really good film that I will be showing on family film night. 1. It's just a good film. 2. It opens up conversation and thoughts on so many areas that should be discussed. I actually even got a l'il teary at the end. Well done.

His House
(2020)

A hidden gem of a film
What a surprise this was. Desperate to find a decent horror after some many terrible ones. The acting is understated and brilliant. Great casting for a start. There is a great miss of questioning, is this about reality, PTSD, different beliefs in different cultures, or all of the above. There's definitely some tension, scares and the right amount of confusion, but above all, you actually get a decent ending. One to watch for sure.

The Haunting of Bly Manor
(2020)

What a waste of our time
I love to know a good story so for me to walk away after three episodes shows how painful it was to watch. The story could be interesting but the over-acting (not a fault of the actors as some have been in other shows and excellent), the script is ridiculous. I don't think anyone involved in this has been to England, or spoken to anyone English because their accents are horrific and the behaviours are an awful stereotype. I don't have much good to say about this unfortunately. Give it a go and see if you don't want to throw the characters in the lake yourself after three hours.

Virgin River
(2019)

Don't bother if you're a self respecting woman.
So we start with a woman in distress and then have her rudely treated and patronised by each local man she meets (and she's the one who has to apologise) until it's the hot barman who wants to sleep with her. I'm sure if I give it a chance I'll 'fall in love' with the characters but if anyone treated me so poorly I wouldn't stick around and no-one else should. In short..this is a great example of women putting up with crap and it being romanticised on tv.

Literally, Right Before Aaron
(2017)

A film trying to justify abusive behaviour. Just. No.
My first review and I had to write it because it was so bad. Such a shame as a great cast but wow... The main character is an emotionally manipulative abusive selfish person who has all of his behaviours 'romanticised' by the film. It's films like this that make people think stalking behaviour is romantic, lying is ok and that it's funny to be a complete **** if you think you've been heartbroken enough. It's not. This film is awful. It should have a warning or be banned.
