Like chocolate chip cookies without chocolate chips Is it really too much to ask for a monsterverse series to have monsters in it?
It seems obvious, but the key to any Kaiju story is to include monsters. I agree that most Godzilla related projects have poor character development. Godzilla Minus One demonstrated how you can have monsters AND tell a great story.
However, there are plenty of fantastic Godzilla films with weak, or downright ridiculous characters and stories. If something is going to be lacking in a monster movie, don't make it the monsters.
This series manages to do both. The story is paper thin. The characters are one dimensional and uninspired and there are virtually no monsters to speak. A couple dull sequences and rehashed clips from the movies just don't cut it.
I keep hearing it's a budget issue. Well, Monsters, Minus One, District 9 and Cloverfield are just a few examples that show a low budget doesn't need to be an obstacle.
But if you need a big budget to pull this off and you don't have it, then don't waste our time.
This series is a terrible series and an even worse monsterverse entry. Thanks for not even trying Apple. I'm cancelling my subscription. You obviously aren't using the money well.
