The Spiderwick Chronicles
(2024)

Far and away from its source material
8 epsiodes, 8 hrs to develope better than the orginal that was well done in 90 min. When you cannot tell a solid story in 8 hrs with the foundation already laid out, time to call it quits. And do we need to throw in every issue of todays world and make the main character another villain. Cause that is what Jared was. Far too much emphasis in mebtal health. We get it. And the towns people reaction after what happebed to them! Really? Why did we hardly see thimbletack? And his design was horrible as well as the rest of the CGI? Roku if you are reading this, no season 2 unless you switch writers and spend some xtra money on the effects and the fairy world we are all looking forward to. Too.

Monster House
(2006)

An absolute classic
So I saw this movie when it first came out in 2006. It was also nominated for best Animated feature film. So for anyone who critiques the animation compared to today's animation put it in context. Also if you are just watching for the first time and are expecting a slasher? Get a clue. For those who say "not for the real little ones!" No its not, it's Rated PG!!!! . So everyone needs to do there homework first before poorly reviewing this movie. Especially Zr's and anyone under 20. Its not Disney, or Marvel or any other over hyped movies like today. The reviewer who said it was boring, and took to long for the action to begin! Clearly not a Hitchcock fan.

The Vampire Diaries
(2009)

Yawn
So all the 10 stars must the from tweens and teens. This show just like the twilight movies just throw all the Vampire love right out the window, just so they can write there really bad story telling. Vampires getting drunk? They don't even need to eat food, why would they get drunk. All they need is blood. And see? They have no need for it either. I could go on and on. But just not worth anymore of my time.

Stargirl
(2020)

Why?
Seriously the CW formula for there shows is getting boring. Especially the Hero shows. I mean the flash was great for the first 3 seasons, then it became 90210. Supergirl is like Gilmore Girls. Legends, a bad sitcom with powers, except for season 1. And this Stargirl! The JSA was one of the greatest Hero teams and they ruined it by building around Stargirl? Dont get me wrong, I am a DC fan, but of there comics and animated Movies. All else is just not up to muster. But to sound like a jerk, Nolans Batman trilogy was the greatest. But that was before DC comics got involved in there movies. I will give credit to Aquaman, Wonder Woman and even to shazam. But DC has such a huge Library of character why cant they figure this out? Not everything has to be costumes heroes. I have too much to say frankly and not enough time. But as long as there are teenagers inguess the CW will be successful. And no I did not like joker.

Stranger Things
(2016)

The Phoenix we didn't get in the X-men movies
As someone who is a child of the 70s and teenager of the 80s of course this show will appeal to me as it harkens back to that nostalgic time. But I was and still a fan of the Marvel comics of both those decades. In fact some of the best writing in comics cam from that time period. In particular the Chris Claremont run on the X-men , which ran from the 70s to the 90s. 17 years of great storytelling. If you have red these comics before you can see the influence of the Phoenix on the Eleven character . Both the Jean Gray and the Rachel Summers versions of Phoenix. That feeling I got from reading those issues. That " oh $#!t " feeling is the same feeling I got while watching Eleven flex her telekinetic powers. That never came across in the X-Men movies. One could say that both actresses couldnt pull it off , but more I think , was the true understanding of the potential untapped telekinetic power could unleash. It's not enough to CGI ted eyes, fire and red veins. There is none of that in Elevens character and yet we can see and feel the power. Of course what hurt the X movies was that they became Wolverine movies and not movies about the X-men. That's what made the Claremont run so popular. It was about the team with other underlying stories about the individual X-men. The dark Phoenix Saga won multiple awards for it's writing. Let's just hope with The X-men back under the Marvel Banner we will finally get the X-men and the Phoenix we deserve.

Bumblebee
(2018)

Can't believe they made this movie
Watching this movie as I write this. I have had to fast forward to skip from falling asleep. I'm a child of the 80s, grew up watching The transformers cartoons, G.I. Joe etc. Why does everyone think they can ride the "stranger things" train to a good movie?! Captain Marvel, Bumblebee, Wonder Woman 84, etc. Being Nostalgic is not the way to a good movie. Outside of the soundtrack, this was a sad movie. Like another reviewer said : am I watching the same movie? If I want E.T. or the goonies, I'll watch that. I do not need a rehash. How in the world would the Transformers back story start with Bumblebee? Thank God it's free on Amazon Prime and I didnt pay for a $15 movie ticket. Also why is everyone bashing Michael Bay? He may not have directed bit is still holding the rains. Check out who the producer is. Anyone gave this movie more than a 5, probably loved Justice League .

A.N.T. Farm
(2011)

This is a kids show.
So, reading all the negative reviews, written by adults and what they think. This show and every other Disney show , was not created for adults. The parents who are mortified by comments like " I'm gonna leave my debt to my kids like every other american" need to relax, because your kids aren't even hearing that, there too busy laughing at Chyna's dumb brother and olive. Them the critics who ( and I came believe how many ) compared it to hannah Montana, need to get over themselves and grow up. Especially if you are still living in your mom's basement. Maybe get a job and get a girlfriend. But probably the same grown ups who watch my little pony. Anyway, when my daughter was young she watched the show all the time and was always laughing her head off. That's what you want, is for your kid to have fun and laugh a lot from a kids show. Trust me, no harm will come from you kids because they watched this show. My daughter is now in middle school attending a gifted and talented school majoring in Creative Journalism and Biology. She was appointed a spot for art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art here in Manhattan for young artists and was just published in the 2019 young writers of America for short stories. The premise of this show is to teach children to be who they are and not be afraid of there gifts and/or interests. Show them they don't have to "follow " the crowd and be like everyone else.

Titans
(2018)

Bad language does not make up for poor dialogue.
So, let me first say that I am not opposed to language being used in dialogue. But this makes these kids , who are proteges of some of the most iconic heroes in history, seem illiterate. They drop the F bomb here more than a Tarantino movie. But at least in a Tarantino movie it has a place.

Second. The acting is less than desirable. Jason Todd is annoying. He's not supposed to be annoying. Jason Todd was troubled. The actress who plays Rachel is not very good. For a streaming platform show, it's very CW except for all the language. Third. Too much of a rush to introduce so many characters. The is so why the DCEU didn't work. Why can't they take there time.

I grew up in the 80s reading the Wiolfman/Perez Titans run. Between that and The X-men those were 5he days of great story telling. Most of the fans raving about this show were problem fans of the 90's babes, boo s and guns craze in comics. There is a reason all those comics are worth, not even the paper they were printed on. No substance. Just like this series. I really wanted to like this. I just can't.

Let's hope they don't introduce Damian Wayne. That is a great character that they will not do justice to.

Legends of Tomorrow
(2016)

Why does this show exist?
This shows only reason for being is to be able to tap into the DC comics Library and have little snipets of there characters. Time line stories get boring unless there is a beginning, middle and end. But this jumping around time to fix corrupted time lines is ridiculous already. Are there Not enough writers for the CW shows? I have an idea! cancel Supernatural already and have those writers work on the superhero shows. A few question what happened to the hawks? ( not that I really care they sucked) and Why a black lightning show? P.S. Green arrow is not BATMAN Greg Berlanti!

The Gifted
(2017)

Snnnooooorrrrrrrr
So guys, this is a bad show. Geared towards millennials and teens. I have been a lifelong fan of marvel and the X-Men starting in the mid 70's. X-Men issue #134 changed the way I read and bought my comics books and recognized them as an art form. I do not believe that source material has been read. Brian Singer needs to walk away from the X-Men franchise. He has taken the stories so far out of canon its heartbreaking. Especially after X-Men apocalypse. High Expectations for this show, but alas, a let down. Enough with teen angst!.Television is not the place for the superhero genre. With the exception of What Netflix has going on . I wish HBO would Pick up a marvel or DC title and work that Magic that HBO does. Next! off to rant on the Inhumans. Oh psssstt!? The trivia part of IMDb says " did you know Polaris is magnetos daughter? " well she's not. Lorna's Parents died in a car accident that she caused when her abilities started to show. Jeez!!!

Inhumans
(2017)

Whyyy?
So, Marvel to me is the best comic book universe. They were the first to have continuity. Been a fan since the 70's. Especially loved groups like the Inhumans. Jack Kirby was always ahead of his time. This show is a disgrace to his memory. I seriously hope it gets canceled. So many inconsistencies. I don't even know what to say just because there is so much to say. where does one begin? There is just too much being put out there for the broadcasters. I know superhero properties are the hype, but at the cost of quality. Disney and Marvel need to close the doors to there library of characters, until something really good can be made. Outside of Netflix, superheroes do not belong on television.
