It Takes a Thief
(1968)

It Takes a Thief took my Heart and broke it
Every girl and woman had a crush on RJ back then--he was so f*****g suave! I loved this show and the premise, it was always intriguing. I always had a crush on Fred Astaire as well and when he joined the show, I thought, perfect casting. I will always have a soft spot for Malachi Thorne, I loved his mellifluous voice. I recall one particular episode that guest starred the beautiful, not to mention Black actress, Marilyn McCoo (5th Dimensions). Up until that point, RJ interacted with many women, but here was definite chemistry and I was sooooo disappointed that they wimped out on the kiss--Ar! As a young Puerto Rican woman, I knew this was a pivotal moment on TV that would have opened the doors to race relations on programming and they just didn't have the guts to do it--such a shame. Talk about missed moments. BTW, I was only 13-14 then. Get this out on DVD already so RJ and MT can make the talk show circuits. This can be remade with RJ playing MT's role--that would be fun.

Honey West
(1965)

Something for 'everyone' not just guys.
Honey West's sex appeal did indeed sell the show for guys as well as my Dad, however, I remember thinking, here's the first strong and sexy female character who can kick butt too--cool. Makes a woman proud, even though I was 9 yrs old, the impression stuck. I never was attracted to Sam Bolt and his brotherly attentions to Honey was also confusing. I could tell he was attracted to her but their relationship always left me cold. Of course, Honey didn't make any real attempts either. There was no sexual tension. If a 9 yr old can notice that, something's wrong. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the show anyway and I thought the ocelot was cool as well.

Garrison's Gorillas
(1967)

Garrison's Gorillas--Sleeper Classic
I was 11 when I watched this series and was an instant fan, I haven't seen or heard of it since. I too loved Combat! and felt Garrison's Gorillas was a perfect follow-up because of it's sense of humor which was welcomed at that time. I loved Goniff's irreverence, Actor's suaveness and I had a crush on Chief. It's true Ron Harper was a little wooden and I viewed him almost as background support, but make no mistake, he had control of his men and I think the others respected him. I recall the first few episodes included Telly Sevales (cashing in on his Dirty Dozen character), but I didn't feel he quite fit in and was glad he left in short order. Bottom line, these were fun and action packed. I even remember having a Garrison's Gorillas coloring book!
